Thanks for upgrading my edit to the repeatable quests. I'm still new to this. :)
Thanks for spellcheckin--Talyyn (talk) 06:13, 3 December 2018 (UTC)gEdit
Hey, Talyyn! Just wanted to thank you for providing some spell and grammar checking on my cintributions! It's really appresciated. Being not a native english speaker making things a bit harder. Writing most of the text via the smartphone - harder even more. So thank yoy for your work and thank you for not deleting the contributed stuff! -Listens-to-Air

- No problem.
- As for the sources - that's the case, because the info was gathered by simple audition of the various saxhleel throughout the game. How could I provide sources on audition? In fact I'm getting a jel word formation section writing. So how would one point sources on info that was gathered by attentive observation and analysys?
- Maybe for your examples of pronunciation, reference the character's dialogue audio you are hearing? That could work.
- That's the well advice, however I have no technical knowledge to coerctly capture and edit the audio. In fact I decided to write all my (obvious) conjectures as "apparently, probably, most likely" and so on, to not mislead people lik it was set and proved. On the word formation section I will try to stick to that style so I woun't be blamed for fooling people.

Quest dialogue vs. Non Quest DialogueEdit
While adding dialogue to various character I'd like some confirmation. With dialogue that leads up to starting/moving a quest along, it would be added to the detailed walkthrough for the the related quest in some way. While the rest of the dialogue would end up on the character page?--Talyyn (talk) 11:21, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
- All dialogue spoken by a character should be added to their page. Dialogue for a quest should be kept to a minimum, it isn't necessary to have any dialogue on a quest page, but if you do add some then it would be the most important parts. NPC stubsEdit
Hey Talyyn, I don't really know that much about ESO npcs so maybe I am missing something, but if you believe all important dialogue, quests, etc are listed on the NPC page, could you also remove the {{Stub|NPC}}
tag from the page? This way we know what NPCs still need a lot of work and which are basically finished. Thank you and great work so far! --Ilaro (talk) 13:59, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
ESO - "Red" choice questionsEdit
In ESO dialogue, at times you will come across options which denote choices that cannot be undone (other than abandoning the mission). How should they be written on UESP? Until now I've just been treating them like anyone piece of dialogue but I've seen at least one case where the choices were highlighted red on the page and the other where it seemed there was an actual template used which acted as a spoiler cover for the results of selecting these red dialogue options. I don't recall which page I saw the template on though.--Talyyn (talk) 11:51, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, the template is Template:ESO Red Choice. It's not in wide use yet because it was only created fairly recently and it's going to be a bunch of work to convert them all, but I think this is the best way to keep track of all these, so that we know which options have and have not been documented. Template is fairly self-explanatory. Let me know if you have any issues with it. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 00:13, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
LinksEdit
Hey Talyyn!
We do not use links in the beginning sentence of the page. Also, if you think about it, it does not make much sense. Why use link to e.g. Thornfang Pack while we already are on Thornfang Pack page? ;) We use instead bolding, and only on the subject of the article. Hugs, Tib (talk) 09:57, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
- The one on Thornfang Pack was actually fine because it gets transcluded like all the other factions. Only Earl Leythen's didn't make sense because NPC pages are never transcluded. —Dillonn241 (talk) 10:09, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
SkeletonsEdit
Hi Talyyn! Skeletons in ESO are actually NPCs, not creatures. I've undone your changes to the relevant pages. —Legoless (talk) 15:53, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
NPC DifficultyEdit
Hello Talyyn, I've noticed you putting in values for NPC difficulty on the various dungeon boss pages. I would like to point out that in general we use 3 for bosses (which is the highest it goes), 2 for minibosses, 1 for elites, and 0 or "blank" for normal mobs with no pips. I'll go ahead and fix the pages for now. Contraptions (talk) 16:20, 26 September 2018 (UTC)

Random Encounters PageEdit
I don't know if we have something like already but here goes my idea: I've noticed while playing Elder Scrolls Online, that you can have a variety of encounters with npcs throughout the zones. I don't just mean M'aiq, the beggars and the people who can't light a campfire. I mean the things like a mage getting trouble summoning daedra, magic duels, hostages being used as bait for an ambush. I was thinking that there should be a page that catalogues these.
From the top of my head these are some Random Encounters I remember:
- Base Game
- Trader and Mercenary getting attacked by bandits.
- Tie up person being used as bait by bandits to ambush you.
- Cyromancer vs Pyromancer (You interfere, they both turn on you.)
- Wild Witch vs Sorcerer
- Daedra summoning gone wrong
- Oblivion portals opening near you, two waves of daedra. Elite in second.
- Plus the zone specific stuff.
- Morrowind
- Meetings between House members, some cordial some not so much.
- Summerset
- Random Maormer lost in woods.
- Noble Hunting Party
- Surveying team vs Gryphon
Also not sure how it would be laid out. Hmm.
PatrollerEdit
Congratulations, you're now a full patroller! If you wish, you may now add the {{User Patroller}} box to your profile.
Also, I just noticed that you don't have the "E-mail this user" function available. Pre-Release ContentEdit
Hey Talyyn, I noticed you recently added some pre-release screenshots to Murkmire pages. Usually we try to actually remove pre-release images from articles, to be replaced by UESP screenshots. The reason for this is twofold in the ON namespace:
- Pre-release content can be subject to change and it would therefore be preferable to use a screenshot taken from live by a wiki contributor.
- Most of those ESO "screenshots" are in fact artistic renders rather than in-game screencaps.
There isn't really much point to adding marketing material like that to an article post-release when we already have excellent imagery which was taken by editors and complies with our image standards. Separate pages like ON:Screenshots is really the best place to archive that material. —Legoless (talk) 23:55, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
StubsEdit
I notice you re-added the stub tag on Online:Tzik'nith. This article is not a stub as defined here, which refers only to short articles which haven't received significant editorial attention. Your confusion may stem from the misuse of this tag in Skyrim namespace, but as far as Online namespace in concerned Tzik'nith is anything but a stub. —Legoless (talk) 11:05, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
Lore LinksEdit
Hey Talyyn! If you are adding links to characters in lorespace, make sure to exclude their title (example). We never put titles in lore article names, so the {{Lore Link}} will never work. —Legoless (talk) 10:01, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
BooksEdit
Hey, I've noticed you've been doing book work lately, so i'm just trying to get an idea of where we are so we're aligned. I currently have a sandbox User:Jimeee/Sandbox5 where I'm tracking all the different collections and the associated work that needs doing. Lore:Books by Subject is probably 99% up to date.
The last time I worked on Lore:Books by Author was Murkmire, so as far as I know the page was up to date up to Lore of Murkmire, but since then there have been many updates. Do you know if 100% of the authors for the collections following Murkmire DLC have been added? If you're tracking this separately it would save me going through all the collections since then to verify. --Jimeee (talk) 15:30, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'd have to check the Murkmire book category to be entirely sure all the author+books have been added. I did recently go through went through the Library of Incunabula and check/add books for that. But as far as I know Elsweyr to Greymoor is an unknown book wise.--Talyyn (talk) 15:44, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
-
- Ok. I'm pretty sure the Lore of Murkmire authors are all added. Its all authors from the 5 big collections that came out after which I'm not sure about. It looks like it might need manual verification. --Jimeee (talk) 15:49, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- OK, I've just been through the books from Murkmire to Greymoor to check and add books/authors to the page that were missing. Anything that already had a lore version has been added but I feel there is probably books that can be transcluded.--Talyyn (talk) 06:03, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
- That's great and ticks off another job from the list. I've just discovered many of the authors from all the Crafting Motifs are missing too, so I'll get around to that or feel free to have a go. There might be a few odd books that qualify as a lorebook and need transcluded, but it can't be that many - do you have a list? I have gone through all the ESO books/collections over the last few years, and I'm pretty sure the vast majority are now in lorespace.--Jimeee (talk) 15:56, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

- Easier said than done. Until Lore of Murkmire, I kept the books lorespace up to date as much as possible, but I stopped updating my sandbox for a while and the work just built up. The hardest part is when they release books in old collections, like "Daedric Cults" - those slip through the net. The big collections are not too bad to sort out once they are transferred to the sandbox. I think its Jeancey who usually updates all the Collections with the new books, so maybe if he can keep a list somewhere and it can be checked --Jimeee (talk) 16:32, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Deleting RedirectsEdit
Just FYI, when deleting a redirect, you can just add the {{Speed}} on a line of its own below the redirect. We never actually documented that anywhere, it seems, so I just updated it on the Speedy Deletion page. Thanks for tagging all of them! – Robin Hood (talk) 16:32, 4 March 2022 (UTC)

- Is Bane of Dragons not repeatable? It has the blue quest starter mark in the compass. Oath2order (talk) 03:39, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- I did not see that when I did the quest, and from my experience these kinds of quests are only available once per a character. When the daily quests all update. Talyyn (talk) 04:00, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Gotcha! We'll see what happens then, in a few hours (or next year if it's that kind of repeatable. Oath2order (talk) 04:09, 27 January 2023 (UTC)

Item LinkEdit
Saw your edit on Lore:Vivec, why should Item Link not be used in refs? Asking because I've used them on a good few of my pages, thought they looked nicer but if there's good reason to not use them I'll happily remove Mindtrait0r (talk) 13:27, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- Honestly, I can't remember who told me about not using item links in the references, but I would not be surprised if it had to mobile phone viewing issues. Also we have in-house links to pretty much all the items and the information is easier to access and view, compared to the ESOLog item pages which the item links go to are not really set up for casual viewing. And I think it preferable to keep the references to the same website in the same format. Talyyn (talk) 09:03, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
WIP tagEdit
Hi Talyyn, I've removed the {{wip}} notice you placed on Online:Secrets of the Telvanni and replaced it with an {{incomplete}} tag. I don't feel it's appropriate to mark the page for a live event as locked for improvement. Feel free to work on it in parallel if you wish, but the page will likely see a lot of updates from other editors as the event progresses. —Legoless (talk) 13:43, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
Scruut EditEdit
Hey, thanks for giving more love to the Scruut page! One of the edits I noticed had you remove Leramil's dialogue as part of a larger edit. I purposely included that conversation as it claimed the records of Apocrypha were an important part of Scruut's job. Now that I look at it I think maybe it would be better if we just summarize what Leramil said about Scruut's role in Apocrypha as well. What do you think? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 06:01, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
- Because it is the NPC's page and it should not have other characters' dialogue on it. Other character dialogue should only be included if it is part of a scene eg:
- A: "blah blah"
- B: "yada"
- If you want to make note of it, add it to notes, character description. Don't just include dialogue where it does not belong. — Unsigned comment by 120.156.51.178 (talk) at 06:10 on 2 October 2023 (UTC)
-
- We can include other NPC dialogue on their page, and have done so in the past. For example, here are two example articles in our style guide for NPCs demonstrating this: Oblivion:Gundalas Oblivion:Rohssan
Italicised Quest NamesEdit
Hey, I noticed on Online:Tribune Alea Idolus you had italicised a quest name. I've seen this done in older namespaces, but just to let you know that is not the standard on ESO pages. Figured I'd let you know as it would be a lot to change. —Legoless (talk) 11:07, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
-
-
- Usually just a wiki link. I sometimes try to make it obvious from context, e.g. "during The Missing Cohort quest" or "during the quest The Missing Cohort". However, I don't think the NPC infobox needs that sort of couching language, since that field already expects a quest name. See Online:Dringoth for comparison. —Legoless (talk) 12:55, 24 June 2024 (UTC)

Edit
Hey there, I noticed you undone my edit of having Watchlings being related to the Prisoner of Fate quest. A while back, I did communicate with some editors on if enemies have relevance to quests, they mentioned that if the enemy only appears in areas which are no longer accessible after the quest is completed, then one can link the related quest to them. In the case of Prisoner of Fate, even though Watchlings are involved in the quest and even though they are not the focus, they appear in areas which are no longer accessible once the quest is completed (Ie. the areas where they are fighting the Shardborn)
Raren (talk) 17:54, 09 November 2024 (ET) Fine, put it back if you want in the watchlings case. But I still think spiders should not have Prisoner of Fate added to related pages just because a few appear in mephala shrine area if said quest — Unsigned comment by talyyn (talk • contribs)
