Online:Patch/2.6.4

< Elder Scrolls Online: Patch

Released on October 5, 2016. (forum post)

Welcome to The Elder Scrolls Online v2.6.4, featuring One Tamriel! This update opens up the world of Tamriel for you to explore any time, and play with your friends no matter what level you are. Due to the significant changes One Tamriel brings to ESO, we've adjusted much of the current content and systems.

In this update, you'll find that we've made Craglorn more solo-friendly, added Normal and Veteran modes for all 4-player dungeons, re-designed the Undaunted Pledge system, and made some fairly sizeable itemization changes and updates – you'll definitely want to check out all the details below.

In addition to One Tamriel, we've also added dueling, Weapon Ultimates, and added new daily quests. We've also added 16 new Monster Masks, and raised the Champion Point cap by 30 points. As with previous updates, we've also implemented many fixes and improvements to previous DLC game packs and the base game patch. The size for this update is approximately 2.3GB. Enjoy, and see you in Tamriel!

ONE TAMRIELEdit

  • Game content in ESO is no longer gated by your character's level!
  • Right out of the tutorial you'll have the freedom to go anywhere in Tamriel and play any content, in any order, just like other Elder Scrolls games. Your character will automatically scale and balance to the content.
  • The alliance restrictions have been lifted in all open-world zones, with the exception of PvP areas.
  • High-level players will be able to group with friends who are new to ESO; anyone below Champion 160 will scale so everyone can adventure together.
  • Every zone has been modified to ensure a mixture of content for solo and group play is available.

CraglornEdit

  • Craglorn has been re-designed so not all content will require a group to play.
  • The main story quests are now balanced for one player, and the remaining group content can be completed with as little as two players.
  • The group-number restrictions on all quests or doors have been removed.
  • Because of the significant changes, you will be able to complete all the quests in Craglorn even if you've done them once before.
  • Be sure to try your hand at the group delves to find new rewards, or take on one of the world events with a full group for new achievements!
  • Just like the rest of Tamriel, you can expect to find updated loot throughout the quests, delves, and bosses in Craglorn. See the itemization section below for more details.

DungeonsEdit

  • There are lots of changes for Dungeons with this update! Read on to see what adventure awaits for those wanting to delve into the darkest reaches of Nirn and beyond.
  • All Dungeons now have both a Normal and Veteran modes.
  • Previous Dungeons which had a unique Veteran mode have been converted to Version I and II; each version now has a Normal and Veteran mode.
  • Example: Fungal Grotto will now be known as Fungal Grotto I and Fungal Grotto II.
  • Each Veteran dungeon now contains a Monster Mask and Shoulder Set.
  • Monster Masks will drop 100% of the time from the final boss in Veteran mode.
  • Shoulder sets are acquired via Pledge keys (details are outlined in the next section below).

Undaunted PledgesEdit

  • We have redesigned the Pledge system to offer more rewards more often, and at a predictable rate.
  • There is no longer a Bronze, Silver and Gold key. All keys have been converted Undaunted Keys and reward a Shoulder set piece with each use.
  • There are now three pledge givers for Undaunted Dungeon quests, with each offering a unique Pledge each day. They also have a corresponding chest which, when an Undaunted Key is used, will offer a Shoulder set piece from one of the Dungeon Pledges they offer.

Maj al-Ragath offers a random Pledge for the following Dungeons:

Glirion the Redbeard offers a random Pledge for the following Dungeons:

Urgarlarg Chief-bane offers a random Pledge for the following Dungeons:

  • Each pledge can be completed in one of three ways for a total of up to six keys per day.
  • Normal Dungeon: Completing a Pledge in a Normal version of the dungeon awards a single Undaunted Key.
  • Veteran Dungeon: Completing a Pledge in a Veteran version of the dungeon awards a single Undaunted Key, but completing Veteran versions of the Dungeon are also the only way to get the Undaunted Monster Masks.
  • Veteran Hard Mode: Completing a Pledge in a Veteran version of the dungeon after the final boss has been made more difficult will award two Undaunted Keys, in addition to awarding the Monster Mask from completing a Veteran Dungeon.
  • All previous dungeons that did not have a Hard Mode have been given a way to activate a mode that makes the final boss more difficult in the Veteran version, activated by the Scroll of Glorious Battle found in the final boss' room.

Itemization ChangesEdit

  • In order to support One Tamriel which allows you to go anywhere, we needed to make several significant changes to itemization and item sets. In general, each zone and dungeon in the game will now drop 3 sets – one for light, medium, and heavy armor – and all set drops in the game will scale up to CP160.
  • Item Sets will now drop for every item slot.
  • This excludes the Agility Set, Endurance, and Willpower Set jewelry sets.
  • Sets that grant a bonus to melee damage will now drop more intelligently (i.e. a set with melee damage will no longer drop with a bow or stave).
  • Helms and shoulders can now drop at all levels.
  • All set drops have a chance to be green, blue, or purple quality.

The chance of receiving blue and purple quality items increases as you gain more levels.

  • All set drops from the overland are now bind-on-equip.
  • Dungeon bosses and mini bosses will now drop a set piece 100% of the time.
  • Mini bosses will drop either a hand, waist, or feet set piece.
  • Bosses will drop either a chest, shoulder, head or leg set piece.
  • The final Boss of a dungeon will drop weapons or jewelry.
  • Normal mode dungeon bosses will drop blue-quality items.
  • Veteran mode dungeon bosses will drop purple-quality items.
  • Agility, Willpower, and Endurance sets no longer drop from dungeon bosses. They are now rewarded upon completing a random dungeon using the Grouping Tool.
    • Note: These sets can still be found in the Cache chests in Imperial City.
  • All dungeon set drops are bind-on-pickup.

Non-Dungeon Bosses

    • Delve bosses will now drop a waist or feet set piece from the zone they are located in.
    • Overland group bosses drop head, chest, legs, or weapon set piece from the zone they are located in.
    • Public dungeon bosses drop a shoulder, hand, or weapon set piece from the zone they are located in.
  • Many of these Bosses have a small chance to drop a uniquely-named item, instead of the expected set piece. This uniquely-named item is also a part of one of the sets of the zone they are located in, but may not adhere to the dropped slot guidelines above.

Trials

    • Mobs and bosses in Normal mode will drop blue-quality gear.
    • Mobs and bosses in Veteran mode will drop purple-quality gear.
    • The last boss on Veteran Hard Mode will drop gold-quality jewelry.
    • Hard Modes all contain an item worth 10,000 gold which can only be acquired once every 5 days.

Undaunted Plunder

    • In order to ensure that Veteran Trials offer proper rewards as befitting their difficulty, we've added Undaunted Plunder to all bosses within those Trials.
    • By defeating bosses in the Veteran-mode Trials, you'll earn Undaunted Plunder – valuable items that can be sold to merchants for 1000 gold each.
    • Each boss you defeat will drop an increased amount of Undaunted Plunder that you can sell.

Treasure Chests

    • Treasure Chests gained from defeating a Dark Anchors have a 100% chance to drop a ring or amulet set piece form the zone they are located in.
    • The above is also true of Unstable Anomalies found in Craglorn.
    • Treasure chests found in the world have a chance to grant any set piece that can drop in that zone.
    • Simple chests have a slight chance of dropping an item set piece.
    • Intermediate chests have a good chance of dropping an item set piece
    • Advanced and Master chests have a guaranteed chance of dropping an item set piece.
    • If you have the Treasure Hunter Champion Passive, both the above chances and quality of an item will be improved.
    • Treasure chests found from a Treasure Map have a guaranteed chance to drop one random set piece that can drop in that zone.
    • Higher difficulty chests have a better chance of spawning in the world, but easier chests will continue to be more common.
    • The loot from the CE Treasure Chest maps now scale to your level up to CP160.

Quests

    • The quest reward items from major quests have been updated to now be part of an item set. In many cases, these items' names have been modified to reflect this. Less important quests' rewards are not part of an item set.
    • Many quest rewards' item qualities have been rebalanced, meaning that the most important quests in the zone will now reward blue-quality items. (Combined with the above, these will be blue-quality set pieces.)
    • Regular monsters throughout Tamriel have a small chance of dropping any item set piece that can drop in that zone.

Adhazabi Aba-daro the Golden, the rare goods vendor in Cyrodiil, has been updated to include the new Monster Masks and gold-quality jewelry.

    • You now have a better chance of getting more valuable or useful items from Thieves Troves as your rank in the Thieves Guild increases.
    • Treasure maps found in any zone may now direct you to any overland zone.

New Item SetsEdit

We've added 30 Item Sets to drop in Overland zones and Dungeons, with the full list of names for the new sets below.

Item Set Drop LocationsEdit

Many drop locations for Item Sets have been changed. Below are the locations for all existing and new Item Sets (generally listed in Light/Medium/Heavy order when applicable).

Overland

Dungeons

Trials

Arenas

PvP

Overland MonstersEdit

  • Damage mitigation has been normalized.
  • Monsters in the overland and in public dungeons now take the same amount of damage from your attacks.
  • World bosses and their adds have been made more resilient.
  • Defeating monsters in delves now rewards 5% more experience.

Dark AnchorsEdit

  • Added new monsters to Molag Bal's dark army, including Grievous Twilight and Xivkyn.
  • Every zone can now spawn any of Molag Bal's Generals.
  • Visuals and combat ability sets for some Generals has been improved.
  • Achievements from players involved with an anchor are now taken into account when Generals spawn.
  • Every Anchor now spawns Daedra of all types.
  • Daedra now arrive in waves, and any arriving Daedra now deal damage where they land.
  • The reward chest for completing an Anchor has been made more visible.

World BossesEdit

  • World bosses throughout Tamriel have been rebalanced to target groups of four instead of two.

The following world bosses have been redesigned:

UIEdit

  • The introduction of One Tamriel has brought upon a number of significant UI changes that we want to call out below.
  • We added an indicator to your Character window that shows how effective your equipment is at your current level.
  • Higher level and quality equipment will provide a larger bonus. Equipment with traits, enchantments, and/or item set bonuses will also provide a larger bonus.
  • Removed a monster's level from the target frame since every monster essentially has the same level through One Tamriel.
  • Quest givers offering repeatable quests now have a different colored icon over their head to help differentiate those quests from non-repeatable quests.
  • Updated quest messaging to help differentiate between group quests located inside and outside of dungeons.
  • Updated zone messaging to help differentiate between Dungeons, Group Delves, and other group areas.

AchievementsEdit

  • Added 110 new dungeon achievements to support the new Normal and Veteran difficulties being added to the existing dungeons.
  • To account for the huge number of Veteran Dungeon achievements added in this update, we've moved the Veteran Dungeon achievements to their own category in the achievements menu. This new category includes sub-categories for general achievements, Death Challenges, Slayer Challenges, Survivor Challenges, and Speed Challenges.
  • We've also reordered the Dungeon and Veteran Dungeon achievements, so that achievements within a sub-category are grouped by dungeon and listed in the order they are most likely to be discovered in, instead of alphabetically.
  • Added 3 achievements for completing all of the Magical Anomalies, Anka-Ra Sites, and s in Craglorn.
  • Added 3 new achievement lines for completing 1 / 10 / 30 of the new daily quests for Mages Guild, Fighters Guild, and Undaunted Delve dailies.
  • Completing these achievements awards a small amount of reputation for the associated skill line.
  • We've updated the Undaunted pledge achievements to account for changes to the pledges themselves:
  • The achievements for completing Pledges from Maj al-Ragath and Glirion the Redbeard are no longer difficulty specific.
  • Added a line of achievements for completing Pledges from the new pledge giver, Urgarlarg Chief-bane.

Motifs and RecipesEdit

  • Updated the way Provisioning recipes drop as follows:
  • Recipes in Cyrodiil, the Imperial City, and Dungeons now drop based on your rank in the Recipe Improvement passive.
  • In other zones, recipes drop based on your passive rank 75% of the time, and the rest of the time drop the same way they dropped prior to One Tamriel, by zone.
  • Crafting Motifs which were previously only available in the Silver and Gold versions of alliance content are now available throughout the world.
  • Daedra Hearts are now an uncommon drop from humanoid Daedra.

Argentum, Copper, and Palladium style items can now be found in treasure chests.

Justice SystemEdit

  • Legerdemain now influences the quality of loot obtained from Justice activities.
  • Higher skill ranks in Legerdemain provide a better chance to "find" higher quality items.
  • This replaces the previous approach of higher level zones having a higher chance to obtain higher quality items.
  • Similarly, the overall value of items from Thieves Troves is now based on your rank in the Thieves Guild skill line, with a higher rank providing an increased chance for more and higher quality items.

Crafting & HarvestingEdit

  • Survey Reports received from Crafting Writs may now send you to any zone throughout the world.
  • You may now pick up Crafting Writs from Writ Boards outside your home alliance.
    • Note: Deliveries sites are still determined by your original alliance.
  • When opening a Clothing Writ, Woodworking Writ, or Blacksmithing Writ reward box, you now have a chance to obtain a shipment of 25 refined materials from a previous tier of materials.
  • These shipments appear whenever you do not obtain a Survey Report.
  • You no longer need to be Champion 10 or above to obtain Crafting Writs for Craglorn and Orsinium.
    • Note: You still must have access to Orsinium in order to receive an Orsinium crafting writ.
  • All harvest nodes now scale to your combat level or applicable crafting passive rank.

Miscellaneous Systems Changes & UpdatesEdit

  • In addition to the above updates for One Tamriel, we've also made several miscellaneous changes to various systems across the game.
  • All vendors now offer goods close to your level, instead of goods based on the zone the vendor is located in.
  • Gold drops from monsters, treasure chests, safeboxes, Thieves Troves and other containers now scale to your level, instead of the level of the source.
  • The gold cost for Bribery is now based on your level.
  • Soul Gem usage has been simplified.
  • Players of all levels will receive and fill Grand Soul Gems, which can be used to revive players of any level, as well as to refill enchantments.
    • Non-grand Soul Gems no longer fill these roles, and may be sold to vendors.
  • All survey reports now spawn six rich nodes. To balance out the reduction in number of nodes at high-tier survey sites, the amount of materials high-tier rich nodes award has been increased.
  • Players can now undergo the Ritual of Mara with players from other alliances.

NEW FEATURES / UPDATES / BIG CHANGESEdit

DuelingEdit

  • You can now initiate duels with other players!
  • This new feature can be found in the social interaction wheel when interacting with another player, or simply typing /duel.
  • Duels may be initiated in any non-PVP overland zone against a player of any alliance.
  • Duels can only be done between 2 player characters, and only a certain amount of duels can occur within a given area.
  • If you don't want to fight other player characters or receive dueling invitations, the Social panel in your options menu allows the auto-declining of duels.
  • Duels have the following rules:
    • After the challenged player accepts the duel invitation, a countdown to begin will appear in the center of both player's screens.
    • All outside influences such as healing, buffs, etc. from other player characters will be blocked when a duel begins, and will last for the duration of the duel.
    • Combat with a monster will not break or end a duel.
    • Battle-spirit will still be applied to any player characters within a duel.
  • Duels will have a radius you must stay inside, and will be centered around a Dueling Flag.
  • You will be notified if you are nearing the "out of bounds" area of the duel.
  • Leaving the duel area results in a forfeit.
  • A duel is completed when one player character is knocked down to 0 hitpoints.
  • You will be offered a free resurrection if defeated, or can be resurrected by other player characters.
  • New achievements have been added to your journal for winning 1, 25, and 100 duels.
  • Note that we have exposed your duel statistics to the API including player name, class, alliance and race for making your own add-ons.

Weapon UltimateEdit

  • New Weapon Ultimates have been added to the game. Each Weapon skill line now has one Ultimate, and each Ultimate can be obtained by reaching Rank 50 in its respective Weapon skill line. Weapon Ultimates can be morphed as well!

Champion PointsEdit

  • The Champion Point cap has been raised by a total of 30 points (10 in each red/blue/green constellation). The Champion Point experience curve has been automatically adjusted with this new cap, so that earlier Champion Points require less experience and can be earned faster.

New Daily QuestsEdit

  • We've added daily quests for the three factions – Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, and the Undaunted. Included are new rewards, and a new way to gain reputation in their ranks. You can find these quests in the capital cities in each faction's guildhall or camp.

New Monster MasksEdit

  • 16 new Monster Mask Item Sets have been added that drop in Dungeons. The following are a list of the names for the new sets:

MotifsEdit

  • We've added three new Motifs in this update:
  • Celestial Style: The signature look of the final bosses of the Trials of Craglorn.
  • The weekly quest for each Craglorn Trial will always award one chapter from a subset of chapters specific to that Trial.
  • Aetherian Archive awards the chapters for Axes, Boots, Helmets, Shoulders, and Staves.
  • Sanctum Ophidia awards the chapters for Bows, Daggers, Gloves, Legs, and Swords.
  • Hel Ra Citadel awards the chapters for Belts, Chests, Maces, and Shields.
  • All three quests have a very small chance for the complete motif book.
  • The style item, Star Sapphires, can be obtained by defeating the Bosses of these Trials, with a greatly increased drop chance on Veteran Mode and from Hard Mode encounters.
  • Yokudan Style: This style can be seen on many of the enemies in Craglorn.
    • The chapters of the style can be rarely obtained by completing repeatable quests in Craglorn.
    • The style item, Ferrous Salts, can also be obtained from these quests.
  • Draugr Style: This style has been re-discovered by the Mages Guild, Fighters Guild, and the Undaunted.
    • This ancient style of Nord armor can be learned from chapters rarely obtained by completing the new Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, and Undaunted Delve dailies.
  • Pristine Shrouds, used to create Draugr-styled gear, can also be obtained from these quests.

Craft Bag Updates (ESO Plus)Edit

  • Added a new toggle option under: Settings -> Gameplay -> Auto-Add to Craft Bag.
  • This allows you to decide if items are automatically sent to the Craft Bag.
  • This defaults to on, which is the current behavior.
  • Added a "Stow Materials" keybind to the Inventory menu.
  • This keybind appears when you have Craft Bag-eligible materials in your inventory, and stows all eligible materials from your inventory to your Craft Bag simultaneously.
  • This option only appears when you have Auto-Add turned off.

Patcher UpdatesEdit

  • We've made several updates and changes to the ESO patcher in this update.
  • The patcher will no longer have a selection for the NA and EU realms. Instead, the selection will now be made in-game.
  • You will receive a pop-up when you first log in after this update to choose a preferred realm.
  • If you have characters on both realms and frequently switch, you can find this option under Settings on the login screen.
  • Known Issue: The patcher will still display "The Elder Scrolls Online (NA)" as the main server. However, both NA and EU are accessible by selecting that realm. This will be fixed in a future patch.
  • The PTS will still be accessible in the patcher if you have that option selected to display.
  • There will no longer be a red/green light indicating the realm status on the patcher.
  • This is something we're exploring as an addition in a future update.
  • The image on the installer and the background of the patcher has been changed to a new image of the Tamrielic map.
  • If you regularly play on both realms and run different settings for add-ons, these settings will be reverted to default.
  • There will be an update to the patcher that we encourage you to download before attempting to launch the game after the maintenance for this update is complete.
