- It looks like the answer is incredibly boring: nothing. The corruption script will not work on anyone who possesses the Skull of Corruption. As part of its general sanity checks before corrupting someone (the same place where it checks that the target is a NPC and isn't already corrupted) it has a check to make sure that the target is not carrying the Skull of Corruption. - Interesting, I used the Skull on my clone from the SI "Symbols of Office" quest and it created another clone (3rd instance of me) despite the fact that the first clone has the Skull in his inventory. Reanimating and clonesEdit
This staff provides much entertainment when combined with the Staff of Worms and Glarthir's dead body. Just equip Glathir's corpse with the equipment you'd like him to use and then re-animate his dead body, clone him with the Skull of Corruption and watch the ensuing battle. --McGrude 22:11, 22 July 2007 (EDT)
- Ok this is strange. I've managed to duplicate a Greater Staff of Ruin using the above. Interestingly the staff shows the red hand indicating that it'll be a stolen item if I pick it up. Glarthir's body contained a Greater Staff of Ruin and had previously equipped it during previous re-animations. After re-animating Glarthir I cloned him. The re-animated Glarthir immediately invokes the Greater Staff of Ruin on his clone, thus destroying the clone's copy of the staff. The clone then drops the Greater Staff of Ruin on the floor and equips another weapon. After the fight the clone's Greater Staff of Ruin remained on the floor. I believe this was after the second or third battle I staged between the re-animated Glarthir and his clone. I wonder if it is possible to clone other objects in a similar manner. --McGrude 22:29, 22 July 2007 (EDT)
Essential NPCsEdit
I used the staff on Countess Alessia Caro and a few guards came to the countess' aid and knocked the clone unconscious. So I'm guessing that the clone of an essential NPC is also essential, of course it still disappears in 30 secs, so it may/may not be significant enough to add. --Sundaroct131088 12:25, 21 August 2007 (EDT)

ClonesEdit
When the Skull of Corruption is used on the player, does the clone use the player's classes's favourites? Translation: If you are a warrior, will it only use weapons, or if you are a mage etc. --Merco 12:07, 26 August 2007 (EDT)

Who Should One Corrupt?Edit
So I just got this baby, and so far I've wreaked a little havoc in the IC Market District (and revealed a Mythic Dawn agent in the process), but I'm wondering who the best NPCs are to corrupt. Anybody have favorites? Anyone who guarantees hilarity and/or lots of violence? IWon'tFightUndead 17:56, 19 September 2007 (EDT)
I haven't had a chance but I'd love to try it on mehrunes dagon in the last quest. He's affected by the wabbajack and sanguine rose so theres hopes for this dadreic staff too :D

Quest item duplicateEdit
Im wondering if its possible to drop the skull of corruption let someone else pick it up, use it on you, and the clone would have the same items?(including quest items)... im trying to get the bloodworm helm and necromancers amulet.
- From the article: It is possible to drop the staff and attack an unarmed NPC. They will pick it up and use it against you, creating a clone of yourself which will attempt to kill you. Your clone may equip your best items (not taking into account enchantments), and seems to be not able to use your custom spells. If you are involved in/head of any factions, the clone will shout lines about that faction whilst fighting you. The clone will have duplicates of all of the target's equipment with only a few exceptions, namely the Skull of Corruption, Umbra, and Wabbajack. These three artifacts are explicitly removed from the clone's equipment. I can't loot corrupted bodies!Edit
After killing a corrupt clone, the body just vanishes. I can see the container icon but no matter how many times I bash the use key in the limited seconds before it dissappears, I can't get anything. I guess the article should be changed so it says that only the staff of ruin (Or any other weapon with a "Damage weapon" enchantment) can be duplicated. 60.50.76.61 04:39, 5 March 2008 (EST)

- If you kill the clone with the Deadric Bashing effect on Mehrunes Razor then the corpse will not immediately vanish, and after saving/reloading you are able to loot it; however the body still vanishes after the spell is over. Killing my clone with Deadric Bashing also caused me to get expelled from the Mages and Thieves Guilds, but I was able to avoid that another time by saving/reloading before the expelled quest was added. --Shalley303 21:23, 30 March 2008 (EDT)
Missing NameEdit
If you do the trick above and loot a corrupted body, the corpse will have several "missing name" items with a large green square as an icon. These items can't be used or equiped, and if you try to drop them the game crashes.
- not necessarily. I got one and tried equiping it. I was able to shoot it out of a bow, so it must have been an arrow or something. didn't crash my game, it was just non-existent. the look on the gladiators face... 'OMG A BOW... What did he fire?'
- On the Xbox 360 version when you find the <Missing Name> item it shows as a green box as the item's icon and it has no value, it has no weight, it pretty has no statistics, when you drop it your Xbox 360 crashes, on the PS3 or PC it has no icon and again, has no statistics, when dropped it appears as a giant yellow diamond with a black exclamation point in the middle if the diamond shape, it pretty much is a missing mesh, there is no reason why it's in the Clone's Inventory, I guess Bethesda thought that the Player would not be able to access the Clone's Iventory so they just left the meshes/<Missing Name> items there. --Dremora Lord 20:43, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Quick Guide to Cloning YourselfEdit
Most experienced players will know how to do this, so this is more for anyone wanting to follow a quick guide to duplicate their items. This should only be used to duplicate items that cannot be duplicated with the scroll trick since that is much easier to accomplish. Items that cannot be duplicated with the scroll trick are any items with scripts attached to them, any quest item you cannot drop, any unique weapon, armor, or clothing item that you cannot obtain more than one copy of, and gold.
The trick to this is basically finding any sleeping NPC, but you don't want to do this in town and have to deal with guards running to aid the NPC. You can also do this with any unarmed NPC, but need to get them away from guards to make this hassle free. I picked Walker Camp for this guide because the thugs respawn, and take turns sleeping making it pretty easy to pull off any time you want to. This is a little better than using the Staff of Worms trick since you can duplicate your quest items and gold which you cannot put on a corpse.
- Go to Walker Camp.
- Wait until one of the two thugs goes to sleep (10am to 4pm, Midnight to 8am).
- Kill the thug that isn't asleep.
- Cast charm 100 on the other thug now attacking you, and then yield to them.
- When they go back to sleep make sure that charm 100 is still active (recast if needed).
- Pick-pocket all of their weapons. If you cannot steal their weapons you will have three chances to do so before the thug wakes up (because they have 100 disposition to you). Once the thug wakes up they will stand up, but will not equip their gear or attack you. While in sneak cast paralyze on them, and then do the same keystrokes for you would to yield. This will open their inventory and allow you to take all of their weapons. It works the same way as looting unconscious essential NPCs.
- Drop the Skull of Corruption on the ground.
- The thug will come out of paralysis, pick up the staff, and begin using it on you.
- Kill your clone with the Deadric Bashing effect from Mehrunes Razor. You don't need to do it this way, but it makes it much easier to loot the corpse if they die from the instant death effect rather than from weapon damage.
- Once your clone dies immediately save and reload your game. This is important because you may get kicked out of the Mages and Thieves Guilds if you don't save quickly enough.
- Loot the corpse, wait for the clone to vanish, let the thug hit you with the staff again, and repeat.
- Once the staff is used up the thug will come attack you with his fists. Charm, yield, and paralyze him to take the staff back, or just kill him.
I was able to kill five clones before the thug had to go to hand-to-hand combat. Be careful if you decide to do this as the thugs will run from you if you damage them too much. During one testing a thug ran all the way to Rugdumph's house, and as soon as he entered the house his inventory respawned which caused the staff to be lost.
This was all done on the 360 with all patches and mods applied, so it should work on the PS3 as well. Unfortunately on the PS3 you will not have Mehrunes Razor, making it more difficult to get the timing right for saving and reloading so that you can loot your corpse. --Shalley303 14:12, 31 March 2008 (EDT)
Perma-Cloning YourselfEdit
I am not sure if this belongs on this page or the glitches page, but you can make a permanent clone of yourself by following these steps:
- Find a cave with a non-archer NPC at the beginning. I use Capstone Cave. IMPORTANT NOTE: You will not be able to return to this cave, or clone will disappear.
- Kill all enemies in the cave except your NPC at the start. 100% Chameleon greatly helps here.
- Move all dropped weapons into a storage container or dead bodies.
- Drop the Skull near the NPC at the start. Save here in case something goes wrong.
- Initiate combat with him and Disintegrate or disarm his weapon. If you disarm it, you must pick it up before he does.
- He should now pick up the Skull and hit you with it.
- Kill the NPC quickly.
- Pick up and drop the Skull so it won't disappear.
- Run out of the cave before the Corruption effect wears off. Your clone should follow you outside, he is now permanent. As long as you never return to the cave and you followed step 8, he will always be there.
If you want to kill your clone, you must use poison or you will get kicked out of all of your guilds. Your clone's body will last forever, making him the perfect minion to lead around with the Staff of Worms.
In order to loot your clone, you must save and reload in the same cell. All items except Umbra, the Oghma Infinium, Wabbajack and scrolls will be duplicated.
If you do not want to kill your clone, casting a custom Command Humanoid spell at him, fast-traveling away and walking back manually will permanently pacify him. --66.183.229.164 15:25, 25 May 2008 (EDT)

- I tried doing this (Yeah just found this post, so it's pretty old). Got it to work like a charm. Only problem is, all the Clone wants to do is attack me. Since he is my speed and my spells, it was extremely hard to outrun him. But I did it, he calmed down, and I walked back up to him. Now all he does is insult my character and stand in one place. How do I get him to follow me? I tried to use the Calm and Command spells, but nothing happens. By the way, I am level 51, so that means he is level 51, if that makes any difference. I know Calm and Command say they only go up to level 25, but this is not actually true. From what I remember reading, each "point" is actually a range of levels, four I think? So at "Level 25" it actually should work up to Combat Level 100. Either way, all the Clone does is stand around with his thumb up his ass and insult my character, lol. Any suggestions?

Save and reloadEdit
For the duping glitch with the Skull of Corruption, I've noticed and heard other people say that you have to save and reload for the corrupted clone's body to become lootable. However, this is not mentioned in the article. Before I/someone else add/s it, I'd like to make sure it isn't just a few games being wierd. — Unsigned comment by 70.253.99.2 (talk)

Azura's StarEdit
Something odd I noticed, when Azura's Star is cloned, by emptying one, you also empty the other. So if you had two Stars with grand souls in them, using one Star will make the other empty as well. NIL 09:36, 10 July 2008 (EDT)

- This problem can be solved by seperating them before you use it. If you put one in a container and use the other you can drop the one you used and use the second one. Afterwards pick the dropped one up.
Clean-up TagEdit

Perma-Cloning in SIEdit
Yeah, this is really weird. I cloned using a Grummite. I reasoned, well since Grummites are so civilized to carry weapons, why won't they react like any other NPC and pick up the Skull. Well, I went to Blackroot lair and tried it.
I followed step 1-5 from the Perma-Cloning guide above. Then he picked up the Skull; it got a bit glitchy because he's not meant to carry it. However he used it on me. (It takes him a couple of seconds so stay calm and don't move).
I then finished and made my clone. Woot. But I still can't bring my clone in SI back to the main world. He's really good at helping me fight in SI though.
On a side note, if you want your clone to be on fire, this a funny little glitch. Go inside and do steps 1-8. However, DO NOT USE A COMMAND SPELL ON THE CLONE. Once you're out wait a couple seconds, go back inside and quickly use the command spell on the clone before exiting again. When you're outside, turn around to find your clone on fire. If you fast travel away, he'll extinguish himself.--Tau434 01:51, 17 January 2009 (EST)
ArchersEdit
Everytime I clone an Archer-NPC, whether it be a Bandit Bowman or a Marauder Archer (there are probably more), their clone just stands still. The clone does not equip the bow and (therefore) does not attack their original, neither does the target NPC attack their copy. Am I the only one who experiences this, or is it a frequent occurrence? - I tested this. The archers do attack each other for me. However, they use daggers instead of bows. This may require sometesting under different circumstances though; When i tested it, the archer first detected me and started attacking (drawing his dagger), before i used the skull. After using the skull, i had to use invisibility on myself and wait for a few seconds before the archers started attacking each other. If it's of any value to know, the clone attacked the first, and sometimes had to strike several times before the original archer responded.

Shadowmere and the Mages and Thieves GuildsEdit
This doesn't make any sense. If I use the skull on SHADOWMERE, I get expelled from the MAGES and THIEVES guilds? I thought Shadowmere was property of the Dark Brotherhood.70.178.75.61 11:08, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- I think that might be the horse ownership bug causing that. If you attack a horse, it counts as theft from the horse's owner, which in that case is you, so basically the game thought you were stealing from yourself, and you are a member of those guilds so it causes you to get kicked out. That problem should be fixed in patched versions of the game, though. So it may be another bug if you have the latest patches. Griffinsong 11:28, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Do not leave any valuable weapons on the ground when summoning a cloneEdit
If you create a clone of an unarmed enemy, the clone will pick up a weapon from the ground. When it disappears, the weapon will disappear as well. I once dropped Mehrunes Razor on the ground, because I didn't want the clone to attack bare-handed. It picked up the weapon, sure, but after killing the enemy, it sheathed the Razor and disappeared, taking the weapon with him. So pick up any valuable weapons from the ground prior to cloning an unarmed enemy. WRFan 16:08, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
Spell reflection and spell absorptionEdit
Just tested the staff on an NPC wearing the Mundane Ring (spell reflection). The spell cast by the Skull can be reflected, in which case the charge is wasted, but NO clone of the player character is created. I think it's because the script underlying the staff enchantment specifically excludes anybody wielding the staff from cloning. If you were to cast the spell on an enemy with spell reflection and then quickly drop the staff on the ground before the spell reaches the enemy, and if the spell is then reflected, it may create a clone of the player character, but I'm unsure if this is the case. I got the Skull of Corruption then bought Benirus Manor, I put the Skull of Corruption in knocked over drawers to the right of the fireplace,when I finished the Benirus Manor quest I put another staff into the now standing upright drawers and could not find the Skull of Corruption.Do you think I will be amble to get it back?207.190.74.239 00:01, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Duplicate the Elder ScrollEdit
I was doing the Thieves Guild Quest "the Ultimate heist" and i thought hmmm... the elder scroll looks awesome. - Off-hand, I see no reason it wouldn't have worked using the Permanently Clone Yourself exploit. I did the console version of what the Skull of Corruption does, and my clone had a copy of the Elder Scroll, but since that's not guaranteed to be the same as actually following the entire exploit through, that could use confirmation. I don't have a character handy that could easily follow the instructions outlined in the exploit or I'd test it myself (and setting up such a character would involve a lot of console work, which basically invalidates whether or not it could be done in the real game). – Robin Hood↝talk 23:41, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Befriending your clone?Edit
Is it possible to get your clone (clone of the player) to be your friend/passive? Killing him and then using Staff of Worms works, but is incredibly inconvenient because it only lasts 30 seconds, and he can't go through doors/fast travel.

Using the SoC to finish quests where you have to kill someoneEdit
If for a quest you need to murder a character, if you duplicate the character and then kill their clone, would the quest advance or does the console know the difference between the clone and the original? In particular I'm wondering if you could duplicate the characters in the cheydinhal sanctuary during the Dark Brotherhood quest "The Purification" and then kill the clones to avoid having to kill the actual characters in the sanctuary.
