New Technique for clearing stolen flag
After being thrown in the Cheydinhal jail, I realized that I had my stolen Mundane Ring confiscated. I served my time, then broke back into the jail and stole it from the evidence chest. Then I placed it outside (in the courtyard outside of Castle Cheydinhal), and proceeded to punch a guard in the face. When I went back to jail, I served my time, then I picked up my ring, but it no longer had the red hand stolen marker on it.Xeagle51 01:34, 11 May 2007 (EDT)xeagle51
Just sell your stolen item to a fence and then buy it back. -Kern
First of all, kern, i dont think you get what he is trying to say... anyway, the same thing happened to me accept i never went to jail. I stole the Arcane University Ice Staff, dropped it accidentily, picked it up and it was no longer stolen. Yeah, that was a good day...
red object lettering
not sure if this is a glitch but about half the time i try to interact with an object in some way the lettering with the name, value, and encumberence turns a red/orange color and i can do nothing to it. — Unsigned comment by 172.165.69.218 (talk)
- It sounds like you just have a Telekinesis spell of some type ready to cast. When a telekinesis spell is your active spell, any objects within range of the spell (but not within your physical reach) show up with red lettering to indicate that you would be able to grab them if you cast the spell. --NepheleTalk 23:36, 18 May 2007 (EDT)
Frostcrag Spire Glitch fix
So, most of you may know, but the Frostcrag Spire glitch can be done much more easily. Instead of just saving in Frostcrag, you can just save in the Daedric part of the gardens in the living area, spawning you right in the room.
- I just thought I'd ask, how might I get in that test room using the console command? I wish to do so without removing or disabling the Spire plugin. I've tried the "coc" command, but that did nothing. Any other methods? --71.112.161.131 07:33, 14 May 2007 (EDT)

- I tried just a little while ago what you said, and all I got was a really long pause where nothing happened. Not even the surroundings animated. i have a question about the 360 "all Sigil Stone" glitch. if i was to get rid of my update will it delete all the items from different saves if i don't load them? (like other saves with stuff in the vault). — Unsigned comment by 154.20.13.211 (talk)
- Any pre-existing saves will be completely unaltered; only new saves (either brand new or ones that overwrite previous saves) will be affected by the mod being uninstalled and reinstalled. After the mod is reinstalled you can go back and reload any old saves and all of your stuff will still be there. --NepheleTalk 01:40, 22 August 2007 (EDT)
Please how can one remove the "Permanent Effects from Quest Items" glitch ??
I have a permanent reflect spell due to the "Crown of Nenalata" - can I remove it using the console ?
- It should be possible to remove it using the console, but since I've never tried it myself I don't know for sure which commands would work. I'd start by trying the
player.unequipitem
command, since that's the command that got skipped when the glitch occured:player.unequipitem BE5D5
player.unequipitem BE5D6
player.unequipitem BE5D7
player.unequipitem BE5D8
player.unequipitem BE5D9
player.unequipitem A55FB
- The long list is to cover all the different possible leveled versions of the crown. Hopefully that will work :) --NepheleTalk 23:02, 20 May 2007 (EDT)
- Thanks a lot ! Very nice reply ! This command didn't work though :( - if you come up with any other trick please post :) Cheers ! Btw can one paste from the clipboard to the console ? I 've been always wondering :D
- Is there a known solution? The page itself says "This effect is truly permanent: there is no way other than Console commands to get rid of it.", but I cannot find a solution, using the console or not.
Random Oblivion Weather?
Since ending the Main Quest, the Oblivon-style weather (cloudy, red clouds, high winds, thundering, etc.) randomly pops in for five minutes then goes away. I don't believe I've done anything to trigger this, but I don't know how or why it suddenly happens. I don't use cheats, but I may have accidentally put one in just arbitrarily pressing buttons X). Anyone else having this odd weather, or is it just a planned event after you finish the main quest? --WerdnanoslenTalk 10:17, 6 June 2007 (EDT)
Yeah happened to me, thankfully i enjoy crazy weather but yeah it gets annoying..i don't have anyways to stop this but ive got it to. Im on the xbox 360 so no console commands will work for me. Ummmmm, i tried waiting a full day..that seemed to hold up for about another day or so but then it came back again...sorry i don't know how to fix it.
Harrada Glitch
This is utterly hilarious, this one. Simply get a harrada, look straight forward (paralell to the ground) and drop it. It pings into the air at an indescribable speed. Dropping it from a higher place works better, but it has to be roughly paralell to the ground or it wont work.
Daedric Waraxes......AAAAAAAA!!!!!
Ive got a strange and really annoying Glitch. Whenever i try to pick up a daedric waraxe, a message will appear saying- "The weapon crumbles to dust in your hand", and then the axe vanishes! With me an Ebony waraxe does 22 damage, but if i pick up a daedric one from a container it does 8 damage(?). Thenif i drop the axe on the floor and pick it up again, it 'crumbles to dust in my hand' again! Does anybody know how to fix this?--Willyhead 12:45, 18 June 2007 (EDT)
- It's a glitch introduced by the Unearthing Mehrunes Razor plugin. The default daedric war axe is overwritten with the champion's crumble-to-dust war axe. Uninstalling the plugin would get rid of the problem (and you would also lose all loot obtained from the plugin). Or you can avoid using unenchanted daedric war axes. New Glitch: Ultimate Heist at start of game
I found this by mistake in an unpatched PC copy of Oblivion: I was thieving from the Best Defense and went to the sewers; then I got the Bloodwater key, and continued until I found a Palace entrace: when I used it, it said "I found the sewer that Grey Hood was talking about" and gave me a Continue/MakeActiveQuest dialogue! I'm not even IN the Thieves Guild, much less at the final quest! — Unsigned comment by 24.80.182.24 (talk)— Unsigned comment by 24.80.182.24 (talk)
- You may want to double check what mods you're playing with, because what you're describing will never happen in vanilla Oblivion. And any game changes introduced by third-party mods do not count as glitches. First of all, there is no key named a "Bloodwater Key" in the game. The key that opens the gate before the entrance to the Palace Sewers is named "Imperial Sewer Key". Second, that key is not available lying around in the Best Defense or anywhere else in the game. It does not exist until it is added to the player's inventory at the appropriate stage of the Thieves Guild quest. Third, there is nobody in the game named the "Grey Hood". He's the Gray Fox, and if you're going to try to provide information it would really help if you tried to provide correct information. --NepheleTalk 00:28, 23 June 2007 (EDT)
- Sorry for not providing the correct information; I'm not particularly pedantic about the names of items and characters in games I'm only mildly interested in, especially when I post long after the fact; I had hoped that my slightly bad recollection of the names wouldn't be a deterence to interested inviduals, judging by the overall high quality of this site. That said, I'm playing on an apparently unpatched, unmodified copy of Oblivion (on my friend's computer: unpatched so he can exploit the numerous glitches). All I know is that I encountered the quest dialogue by a complete fluke. "The Bloodwork's Sewer Key" is the key in question; I found it on a bandit that I killed in the sewer system, by way of The Best Defense, and from there I was able to find my way to a further sewer entrance that activated said quest dialogue. I don't even know if that key is necessary, but I mentioned it in case it was pertinent. I can try to get you a copy of the associated saves if you care for them. Lastly, I've not been back to play since roughly when this occured; I don't know if the quest can actually be successfully completed ;) ---Scott Paeth
- "Pedantic" details like providing the correct key name or even a vaguely similar key name are somewhat important if you want to ask other people to investigate your glitch and figure out what could have caused it. The Bloodwork's Sewer Key is a key that can be found in a couple different places in the Market Sewers and allows you to open the door connecting the Market Sewers to Beneath the Bloodworks. It does not, however, allow you to open the gate that provides access to The Palace Sewers. The only key that opens that gate is the Imperial Sewer Key. If you were able to actually get into the Palace Sewers then your friend must have installed some mods (or created some of his own) in order to add even more exploits to the game. I know I've explored that section of the sewers several times before starting the Thieves Guild questline and I was never able to gain access to the Palace Sewers, with or without The Bloodwork's Sewer Key in my possession. --NepheleTalk 12:38, 26 June 2007 (EDT)
- Could you then give me tips on how to check for modification? He claims to have never applied any mods, and I'm inclined to believe him. Note that I don't recall if I actually got into the Palace Sewers; the fact that I got a quest dialogue seemed notable enough to me to warrant bringing this to the community's attention. Also, I'd like to get you my save files. Can we arrange something? --Scott

- The dialogue that I assume you're talking about, "I have found the sewer entrance that the Gray Fox told me to look for. Now I need to find the Old Way" (the quest update for quest stage 50) is only triggered by activating the manhole cover that leads from Beneath the Bloodworks to the Palace Sewers. The only way to reach that manhole cover is by getting through a locked gate that requires the Imperial Sewer Key to be be opened. I just went through with two different characters to double check that the game really does play out that way. I even tried doing exactly what you describe: I broke into the sewers from the Best Defense, took The Bloodwork's Sewer Key, entered the Bloodworks then made my way to the Palace Sewer entrance. I was stopped by the locked gate, as always. This is in a patched version of the game, but I checked the unpatched version of the Oblivion.esm file, and there are no changes made to any of the relevant sections of the esm file by the patches. There are also no changes reported in the patch descriptions. So the presence or absence of patches shouldn't have any effect here.
- I'm therefore left to conclude that the sequence of events you describe by themselves will definitely not cause the Ultimate Heist quest to be triggered. And given that nobody else has reported a similar glitch (e.g., Oblivion:The Ultimate Heist and Oblivion Talk:The Ultimate Heist) it also seems that if there is some bizarre quirk that can make this happen (without any supporting evidence from the construction set scripts) it is a very rare event. Furthermore, I don't know that getting this one quest update to appear is really all that significant. You'll be able to explore the Old Way and the Hall of Epochs, but you need to also possess the Arrow of Extrication to continue further and be able to complete the quest, or retrieve the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal, which is the main reason why a player would care about this type of exploit.
- Getting your save files won't help at all to figure out what might have caused this to happen in the first place. Even if you and your friend never installed any mods, one of you could have used the console at some point along the way to unlock this door. Just typing in
ImpSewArenaPalaceDoorREF.unlock
at any point in time would cause exactly this to happen, and it would not be in any way evident in your save files that such a console command had been used. And it still would not qualify as a glitch, because it is a change introduced by using the console. Or else your save file happened to get randomly corrupted at some point along the way, causing this behaviour, which still wouldn't qualify as a glitch. Glitches need to be reproducible by other players without using third-party mods or console commands (see the intro at the top of this talk page, or the intro at Oblivion:Glitches/Proposed). And at this point what you're describing is not reproducible and cannot even be explained by examining the construction set scripts in detail. - Sorry, but to me it seems like we're still stuck at square one: I don't see how this would happen in vanilla Oblivion. If someone else wants to pick this up and spend even more time investigating it, feel free. But for myself, I can't see anything else that I can contribute. --NepheleTalk 00:09, 27 June 2007 (EDT)
- Ugh, I see. As I never used the console, I guess save corruption is the only possible explanation. Sorry for the fuss I've caused. It's aggravating to think you've found a glitch, only to have to chalk it up to chaos. --Scott

I encountered a (slightly) similar glitch, where Methredhel initiated the 'Turning a Blind Eye' quest simply by talking to her, even though I had not even met Armand Christophe yet. Has this been encountered by anyone else? - Saruuk
- Turning a Blind Eye is a quest that can be accidentally started without joining the Thieves guild, in particular if you decide to explore Temple of the Ancestor Moths and retrieve the Savilla Stone (see the quest bugs). Doing so will tend to glitch the Thieves Guild quests if you later decide to join the guild (in particular, Taking Care of Lex). --NepheleTalk 02:10, 23 June 2007 (EDT)

Another Possible Way to Remove the Stolen Flag
A long time ago on the xbox 360, I stole the bands of kwang lao from a chest in the Arena District, and sold them to a fence in the theives guild. When i checked what he was selling, i saw the bands with no stolen flag, so i bought them back, and they no longer had a stolen flag. I don't know if this is a glitch, but it could help players with a lot of money.
- It's already well known that Thieves Guild fences can clean an item of it's stolen status. I doubt it's a glitch, as it's occurs regularly and consistently; you can use Manheim Maulhand in the same manner. --Saruuk 21:38, 2 July 2007 (EDT)
Nag speed
Hey i just got the old nag from the Horse armor plug-in, but when i rode him he was going at an incredible speed (in my opinion around 100 speed)! And i hadnt even cast any fortify speed spells on him! At first i thought it was great, but now im realizing that hes running so fast he keeps falling and taking lots of fall damage- its really annoying. Does anybody know how to remove this?--Willyhead 05:06, 4 July 2007 (EDT)
First of all, you should consider yourself lucky...i wish i could have that...anyway, if you really want to get rid of it you could try buying another horse... (im not at all sure that this will work but its worth a shot)
- I've found a way to toggle it on and off now- using a wayshrine of Julianos near the Imperial city stables. All i have to do is strike the horse with a blessing from the wayshrine and it'll disable the 'Nag Speed'. All I must do to enable it again is strike the horse again with another blessing. I don't know why this permanent speed is toggled by a wayshrine that doesn't even increase speed.--Willyhead 16:49, 7 September 2007 (EDT)
"Flying" all over Cyrodiil
I was fooling around with stuff in Oblivion when I decided to make a Damage Fatigue spell like this
Damage Fatigue 100 pts for 1 sec on Touch
Charm 100 pts for 23 secs on Touch(this was because my Destruction skill isn't 75 yet but Illusion is 100, so I needed to make it an illusion based spell)
After a while I took Shadowmere with me on my travels and later tried the damage fatigue spell on Shadowmere and it fell down like every living being would when their fatigue is below zero. I noticed that even when Shadowmere's fatigue was below zero, I still was able to mount/dismount it. The first glitch I noticed was that if I immediately mounted the horse after draining his fatigue away and dismounting it as soon as possible, the horse stays down. If you mount the horse when it is on the ground, you will "teleport" into a weird area, supposedly way down from the spot you actually were. You are unable to move, but getting out of there only needs a simple press of the A button(I don't know what button the horse mounting/action button is on the PC, space, maybe?). Anyways, the "flying" glitch works like this:
1. Use your Damage Fatigue on your horse(I've only tested this on Shadowmere but I can't see why it wouldn't work on any other horses) 2. Immediately after that, wait about 3 seconds before mounting the horse 3. Eventually after going back into 1st person, dismount the horse
After those three steps the glitch should be "working". You can go past any wall or obstacle, but if a mountain that reaches higher than your current height, you go higher the mountain but in weird way. Beware though, because for some odd reason, your character might start the "falling" animation, and the longer it goes, the bigger the damage, so even if it doesn't seem like you're falling, you actually are. I've had some moments when I haven't noticed that my character was in the falling position, so if it stays in falling for a long time you just might die. If I see am correct, the falls occur less often when sneaking. QUICK EDIT: I'd like to ask if anybody would be kind enough to check that it's not only occuring to me. --Bippo Ernesti 11:50, 4 July 2007 (EDT)
I have tried the glitch and it works with shadowmere with a DRAIN fatigue spell for 1 second. You can fast travel and phase through the walls anywhere, and to fix the glitch simply sit in a chair.
Dorian?
I have an unpatched 360 version. I am somehow not able to do this glitch; I've tried taking everything from his corpse except the gold. Didn't work. I've tried taking only the gold. Didn't work. I've tried taking everything. Still didn't work. It appears that I have discovered a glitch within a glitch. 24.242.198.70 02:28, 15 July 2007 (EDT)
Reply By Trigger:
Yes, I have encountered the same problem, but it is a simple solution. For me, Dorian was my first kill. This does not work. You have to have already killed an innocent person, so that when you kill Dorian, the kill is not "seen by forces unknown".
Basically - Kill someone else. Kill Dorian. Count Cash.
Drinking Potions
I found that at least for me that I could only drink up to 7 potions at a time using the hotkey and invitory to drink the potions can someone else confirm this?--Most Honored Listener 13:30, 15 July 2007 (EDT)
- From what I have experienced it seems that hotkey "Restore" potions (Health,Magicka,Fatigue) seem to be limited only by the number you have on hand (XBOX 360). Beyond that I don't know what else I can offer even remotely related to the question.
-
- For potions with no duration (e.g., the built-in Potions of Healing or Potions of Sorcery) you can drink an infinite number using a hotkey. That's not exactly a glitch, though, since the potions have no duration and therefore they are not simultaneously active. You could drink just as many in the same amount of time without hotkeying them: drink four in the inventory, open and close the inventory, drink four more, etc, etc.
- For potions with a duration, I'm not finding that I can drink any more than the standard four potions when I hotkey them. After four potions, if I try to drink another I just get the standard "You cannot drink any more potions right now" popup box. A message also comes up in the corner of the screen saying that I consumed a potion, but the message is wrong: the number of potions in my inventory has not gone down, and I'm not getting any additional bonuses (i.e., trying to drink a Fortify Magicka potion, my Magicka does not increase).
-
- The only time that I was able to drink extra potions was using the exploit of drinking four more potions after the shortest duration effect of a multiple effect potion had expired. And in fact, hotkeying potions ruined this exploit: with hotkeyed potions I could only ever drink one additional potion, not the four that were possible if I drank potions from my inventory.
- Because the details of potion drinking are still not clear, I'm providing the gory details of my tests. I did most of my tests using potions with three effects: Fortify Magicka 66 pts for 220 secs, Restore Personality 6 pts for 19 secs, and Fortify Luck 36 pts for 120 secs. I started with 23 identical potions in my inventory.
- Immediately after drinking four potions (whether hotkeyed or in the inventory) I could not drink any more. Checking both the number of potions (19) in my inventory and my magicka (350 to start, 614 with four active potions) confirmed that I was not consuming any additional potions. I also tried various different types of potions, included zero-duration, different effects, etc.
- After 19 seconds the Restore Personality expired. If I went to my inventory at this point, I could now drink four more potions, ending up with 15 potions in my inventory and Magicka at 878. I was unable to find a way to consume any further potions past the additional four.
- If I tried to drink more potions using the hotkey instead of my inventory, I could only drink one additional potion at this point, not four. Even if I drank one using the hotkey and then opened my inventory to try to drink more, I could not. So using the hotkey here makes this exploit much less useful.
- After another 19 seconds the Restore Personality from the second set expired. I could then drink just one more potion (not four this time!), no more. So 14 potions left in my inventory, and Magicka up to 944.
- I also tried this using some potions with four effects, including a Damage Health 1 pt for 1 sec. And the results seemed pretty much the same, except I only had to wait one second between the each round of tests.
-
- So at that point I thought I was starting to understand the exploit. Then I decided to try some more tests with original triple-effect potions and became completely confused:
- I drank just one potion then waited five seconds (all of the original effects still active). At that point I could then drink four more potions (five Restore Personality effects simultaneously active).
- After waiting until all five Restore Personality effects had expired, I could not drink any more potions.
- Start over. Drink one potion, wait five seconds, drink a second potion, wait five seconds. I could then drink four more potions. In other words, six potions simultaneously active, even with the shortest duration effect.
- I drank just one potion then waited five seconds (all of the original effects still active). At that point I could then drink four more potions (five Restore Personality effects simultaneously active).
- So at that point I thought I was starting to understand the exploit. Then I decided to try some more tests with original triple-effect potions and became completely confused:
-
- I'm not sure what to make of this right now. There's something more going on than just how long it takes for the shortest duration to expire, but I can't see the pattern. And I've already spent much longer on this than I intended to. If anyone else can figure it out, or is interested in doing some tests, I'd definitely be interested in finding out the results. --NepheleTalk 03:21, 30 July 2007 (EDT)
Lifting The Vale Annoying glitch
Hi! In the quest were you have to go get the draconion madstone after i had retrieved it it told me to bring it back to her so i went out to the open area of pale pass were it is very snowy and fast traveled to bruma i went to the countess and tried to give it to her but she keeps saying it's no use to lie meaning that i have not got it. If there are any console commands to get me past this quest i would be thankful for your help!!!!!
Permanent Effects from Quest Items
On Xbox360, it seems neither Boots of Springheel Jak nor Gray Cowl of Nocturnal could be applied to gain its effects. BTW, I have successfully gained the effects from Ring of the Vipereye and Draconian Madstone by following the instruction, i.e. equip the item, commit petty crime, got caught by the guard, went to jail and served time, twice in fact, since I need to turn in the stone to be award with the ring. So I believe I did follow the method described on the main page correctly, and also tried the Dagon Shrine quest, still not working. If there is any insight anyone here could share that would be appreciated. --Terry 23:02, 16 July 2007 (EDT)

Bodies Go Flat and Flap Madly
(Hey, maybe this talk page needs to be archived again!)
I am sure many are familiar with the "dead bodies in a door" effect, where you close a door on a dead body and it gets stuck in the door and flaps around (I've even seen it on youtube). One time I fireballed a mage and he got knocked up some stairs (where I couldn't see him). When the battle was over, I noticed a crazy flapping sound. I went up the stairs, and the mage's body had become flat, appeared to have its head wedged between the floor and the wall (maybe that made the program flatten it?), and not only was it flapping much more wildly than I had seen with door-bodies, but the body parts (no head, it was in the wall) were stretching and contracting (besides flapping). It was not unlike what it might be like if Mr. Fantastic were to stick his fingers in an outlet, with the addition that his body be flat. Very, very weird. When I went by that space later (when leaving the ruin), the body was gone but the flapping sound was still going on. Creepy! I am wondering if others have seen this (it seems to be a rare event, the correct but mostly uncontrollable things have to happen). This was on an Xbox. --Natpoor 14:00, 19 July 2007 (EDT)
- I have also seen this occur. It creeped me out! I found if I repeatedly opened and shut the door the body was stuck in, it would eventually get unstuck and the creepiness would end. I experienced this with NPCs and with rats. I have sometimes been able to move the bodies by "kicking" them out of the way.
Septims Drop
I found a new glitch where you can drop septims. When in your inventory to the top where it has the order tab and hit whatever you use to drop items. I need people to try this so we can find out how it works because when I did it I did it three times and each dropped something different(Torches, Lock picks, Septims in that order) I'm spreading this around as much as possible and encouraging people to test this out. Okay here's what I've found out. When I go the the icons and hit the Drop and Hold button (i might have been vague on that part) it drops a seemingly random item from my inventory ( It might have a pattern I just couldn't tell) When it did that I continued to drop stuff by holding it. When I proceed the Septims are the second to last thing to drop. The quest items being the last for it to try to drop. But once I pick it all back up it won't let me drop anything else, it only tries to get rid of the quest item. But if I save then post doing all the aforementioned actions, then load the save while still in game it lets me do it all over again. BTW this may be a 360 specific thing which is why I ask for people to try it.
Need help with Frostcrag problem
When I do the quest, and go to the gal at the Mystic Emporium- she doesnt offer me the chance to do upgrades? I did everything as outlined. I also completed the pirate cave one, maxing out the perks with that mod. Are we only allowed one per toon? Menaing, is it a choice between Vile, the cave or Frostcrag? HELP!
- Is yours on PC? With 360 I havn't had any problems with the official mods.(other than there being too few *L*) You did everything?
1:Entering the spire 2:Reading the book inside(you might be required to actually take it for some odd reason?) 3:The previous steps were done before talking to Aurelinwae 4:The wall slid away allowing access to the rest of the spire 5:She is inside Mystic Emporium and you are speaking to her during normal business hours 6:The journal has been keeping up with the quest events normally
Apart from that I can't imagine what went wrong except maybe the download got messed up somehow and has to be redone.
have you tried bartering with her?
°Frostcrag and vile lair are different than the thief’s den because you have to actually barter for the upgrades rather than have them in the dialog
Weight Glitch
Something weird I noticed about my character the other day. I wanted to try one of the roleplaying challenges, such as the farmer, nobility in Skingrad, or a city guard. I dropped all my items in various chests in my Skingrad house, except for the clothes and some mischelaneous items I felt I could use. Even though I had only 9 things in my inventory, the weight indicator was somewhere around 93/425. The items I had were an outfit, an apple and a bottle of Rosethorn Mead, shoes, a random book, a soul gem, and several silver plates. I removed these and achieved an 80/425. I have no idea where that 80 came from. I had some quest items, such as keys and the oghma infinium, but all had 0 weight. This 80 excess weight won't go anywhere. This glitch (if that is what it is) might have started a long time ago. I am a female Breton at level 28 now without any plugins and the bottom left numbers in the main menu say 1.0.228. I am guessing this is the patch or something. Can anyone please shed a little light on this?
- I had a similar problem and all i can say to help is look in the Active Effects tab and see if anything abnormal is affecting you, such as burden --Lavadragon 09:55, 29 August 2007 (EDT)
Guard Falling Apart Glitch
I play the xbox 360 version of Oblivion, So this may not work on the PC. Items Needed: Staff of Worms (required) Mage's Staff of paralysis (other paralysis affects should work as long as it is at least 3 seconds long)
First, you paralyze a legion horseman while he is on his horse, and he should fall off while still in the horse riding position. He shouldn't get back up, But his head and rear end still move. Choose resist arrest, An invisible ghost will attack you that you can't see or detect! You should either take random swings and shots, Or attack the body on the ground. The dead corpse will still be in the horse riding position. Then, reanimate him and paralyze him when he gets up. After he gets back up from the paralysis, paralyze him again, and his body will fall apart. His body will fall apart when he dies, And you can stretch it everywhere. If you reanimate him again while his body is stretched, all the parts stick back together.
IMPORTANT: It is recommended that you save before atempting this funny glitch, as killing him counts as murder.
I hope that this glitch brings you much joy, as it did to me:)!
I updated this glitch that i submitted earlier so it no longer has a first person view. Could someone please verify if this glitch works for them and let me know?-Mr. V 21:53, 14 August 2007
I have done a similar glitch on one of the guards in the Imperial university, I did paralyze them but they were not on a horse and I did not reanimate them. I think this glitch just works occasionally with guards that have been paralyzed before they are killed.
Wierd annoying arrow glitch. How do I fix?
Im playing on the 360 and for some reason when I notch an arrow and then draw it it will start hovering in the undrawn position while my hand is in the drawn position. Now this would be harmless, except for the fact that the arrow when shot turns 90 degrees to the left then travels a random distance (ive seen between 1 foot and completely off the screen) then turns in the direction your facing and goes. This makes hitting things impossible. Any idea how to fix it as it is ruining my archer :/
Also none of the permanent bound item cheats work for me, are they pc only?
Wow that is happening to me =[ I want fix now =S
I've had the arrow glitch happen before. It happened when I was using a mud crab for target practice. After it was dead and I moved away from the area the glitch went away. I haven't had it happen for a while though. (360 version.)
Most people probably don't encounter it as most people seem to focus on swords hammers and magic =p --71.255.108.168 01:30, 24 August 2007 (EDT)
Potion disappearing glitch
I have the latest patch (1.1.511) and Shivering Isles installed. My alchemy skill is greater than 75%, but under 100, and I'm level 17 - in case any of that matters.
I created several multi-effect potions, for example a potion of damage health, damage magicka and damage fatigue. It worked fine, created the potion and so forth. I then saved the game and exited. When I loaded the game, all the multi-effect potions had disappeared. I never tried to use the potions, never got the chance to before they disappeared and I can't recreate them now, since I no longer have the needed ingredients. I experimented with an earlier saved game, just created one potion and then saved, sure enough it was gone when I re-loaded.
I haven't seen this error anywhere else, don't know if its just a weird glitch in my version, or it just hasn't come up for other people because they don't use multi-effect potions. Also note that I do have some multi-effect potions that did not get deleted, but all of these were of the positive/negative variety (example: Potion of feather combined with a 1 pt damage health), nothing that was positive/positive or negative/negative survived.
- The latest patch is actually version 1.2.0416. Sounds like you've got the reference bug. Your potions are likely lost forever, but download and install the latest patch, just to be sure, and see if the glitch replicates itself. --Saruuk 06:34, 1 August 2007 (EDT)
theives guild master heist
I have finally made it to te master heist and im so excited when i go to the blind monk and then wait in the chair to wait for the book she goes up to get it but never comes down and if i go up the stairs they all try to kill me.
duplication problem
If i repair armor or a weapon, i cant duplicate it anymore, unless i take the same a copy of the armor and duplicate it. The armor/weapon i repaired does not stack with another of the item. ex. I duplicated 3 akaviri katanas, damaged 1, repaired it, and instea of having a stack of 3 katanas, i had a stack of 2 ones that i could duplicate, and one that i couldnt. Could someone please explain why this is happening? — Unsigned comment by 66.169.32.103 (talk)
Strange Creature Summoning.
If I go into an Oblivion gate, when something, icluding myself, summons a creature, the red swirl I normally see is a black cylinder instead.-Mr. V 08:33, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
- I use Oldblivion and I get the same problem on my PC. Almost all the magic effects turn into black geometry (not just in the Planes of Oblivion, though). Summons are black cylinders, killing MD agents results in a black sphere, killing various creatures with enchanted weapons spawns black rings, etc etc. I think it might just be a graphical error, perhaps because the original visual effects were too difficult to render. Perhaps you're over-clocking your machine? (I just used all the wrong words in those last two sentences, didn't I? I'm such a technology noob...) --Marshmello 19:21, 30 August 2007 (EDT)
- I've had this happen on the 360 version of Oblivion. It was weird to look at, but didn't really affect much else.
- If this occurs on your PC chances are you are either:
- Using a PC with too little RAM
- Running too many programs at once (thus minimizing RAM space)
- Using a PC with a low quality graphics card
The above problems may also be the cause if your game takes a while to load or lags quite a bit. --Lavadragon 13:51, 31 August 2007 (EDT)

wierd note thingy
--Awsomo4000 15:53, 19 August 2007 (EDT)When I went into the bravil mages guild i got mad and killed some people in the guild and on delphine Jend's body I found a green square in her inventory called ring so i took it and when i tried to drop it it said could not read disc every time and i would like to know if its just my game.
Proposed reformatting
I was thinking that it might be a good idea to create a new section in the glitches. Moving all the glitches that have been fixed by patches here to separate them from the ones that are still usable.--Most Honored Listener 21:16, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
PS3 controller glitch...
This glitch is odd because unlike most of the other reported glitches, it has nothing to do with the gameplay itself. I was just playing and I went to save the game and after I clicked the "save" option in the pause menu I noticed I couldn't move anything. I thought my game froze, but it didn't. My PS3 controller was fully charged, but I figured maybe something was wrong with it, so I plugged it in and after I did I suddenly could move again.
I didn't save and I tested out my controller worked just fine. I then tried to save again, and THE SAME THING happened. - After I clicked "save" I could not move into a save file. So then I unplugged my controller and clicked the PS button and I could move to the save files again. I didn't save and I checked if the same thing happened when I go into "load" and sure enough, it did. I ended up turning it off because I figured I didn't want to save with this glitch in effect. After I turned my game back on and it went to the point of telling me the usual: "This game implements an autosave feature, do not turn off system while the light is blinking, could cause data to be lost, blah blah". And I tried to click "OK" but my controller once again wouldn't work until I plugged it back in.
Basically, I'm experience some sort of glitch that my controller becomes "dead" during any save or load point. The only way I can get it to work is to alert the PS3 of it again, by either plugging it in or unplugging it and pressing the "PS" button. Other than that my game is fine, and my controller works perfectly during gameplay. However, having to plug it in everytime I wish to save can get very annoying. Does anybody know what the Hell the problem is? And furthermore, what I can do to remedy this? Really stupid glitch, by the way, but at least it's not a game-breaking one... --162.83.227.120 17:01, 21 August 2007 (EDT)
already confronted the king using cheats
hi. I killed the king of worms (using cheats to get into echo cave e.g. unlock) before the quest confront the king now when i came to kill him he isnt there and i cannot complete the quest if anyone know a code to skipping that 1 quest please write back. Thanks for reading..[[Oblivion:|Oblivion:]]
- That is an example of how consoles mess up games. Fortunately for you, there is a few console commands. If you are not on a PC, you will probably have to start an older save, before you killed him. Anyways, here are the codes to set the journal. Try the first one, and if that doesn't work, the second one.
MG18KingofWorms 30 MG18KingofWorms 100
- The first one sets the journal to "I have killed Mannimarco" The second one sets to "Raminus Polus thanked me for putting an end to the king of worms, and has recognized me as Arch-Mage of the Mages' Guild. Hope that helps. --Vesna 5:00, 1 July 2007

funny glitch....need the shivering isles
you need: >staff of sheogorath >shadowmere >this best works with the minotaurs of the grove.
1.get the mintaurs to attack you and shadow mere will attack them 2.use the staff of sheogorath to freeze everything 3.as everything is frozen ,go up to mount her 4.what seems to happen is that your character does a wierd thing......he starts [or his torso] starts to spin up and down....wierd, it is quite funny
someone try this and tell me if it works because i havnt tried doing it with anything else ....so enjoy and comment this article---Adoringfanslayer 05:41, 3 September 2007 (EDT)

Scroll Dupe Cheat messes up
Sometimes when I'm using the scroll dupe cheat and i beging to get into the thousands i often drop negative amounts of the items I'm tring to dupe. Just thought it might serve as a heads up this occured on my 360 tho i don't know if it's the same on PC. Anyone know why it happens? --Lavadragon 16:47, 29 August 2007 (EDT)
The enchantment glitch.
I would edit this myself, but as I cannot edit apparently (it just says view source), I'll just post it here.
The "Using this glitch with Invisibility, Chameleon, Light, Night-Eye, and Detect Life enchantments is not recommended." line needs to have the word 'Invisibility' removed, as there are no invisibility enchantments that I know of. -- 72.155.214.37 19:21, 30 August 2007 (EDT)
Imperial City Glitch
I've been playing oblivion for over 300 hours now (Morrowind even more) and for some reason it stopped letting me get go to the Imperial City. When I fast travel, it freezes halfway. When I get within 300ft. it freezes suddenly. I have the Xbox 360 version and have SI, but not KOTN. I've downloaded all the patches the game prompted me to download too. I've tried tons of things, but it still won't work. It's the same for all my profiles and characters too. If I have a save IN the Imperial City it will load, but will still freeze when I try to leave the city. Any ideas? — Unsigned comment by Sir Aussie48 (talk • contribs)
Sudden Death!
I've encountered a weird glitch and have found no mention of it anywhere else. After clearing the cache to fix my "approaching city problem", I've seen this twice. I don't know what causes it but for some reason when I kill something and then mount and ride my horse I suddenly drop dead. No warning. No posion apples. No monsters or bandits nearby. No Dive Rock or even a small bump in the ground. I never had this happen before clearing the cache........now what?
UPDATE: Turns out I was wearing the Gloves of Midnight and hadn't noticed. Sorry for wasting your time.

Duplicate Items Using Scrolls
Well i use to always duplicate my sufferton to get money. I downloaded a few mods from 360 market place and it said there was a new update for oblivion, so i downloaded it. After that the only thing ive been able to duplictate are silver bows. Nothing else will duplicate, any suggestions? 70.62.174.194 16:37, 7 September 2007 (EDT)
Borders Glitch
Not shure if anyone has found this, so im claiming im the first one, but if you are right next to a border any you paralyse yourself, you will (somtimes) go flying around and stretching and stuff, but most oftenly just go inside the ground, and once the spell runs out your body just zooms back to the spot you cast the spell. very entertaining! :D
shadowmere glitch
go to the imperal bridge while rdine shadowmere make him stand on the side then knock him off the bridge by knoking him out she will fall then stop about a metre above the water not sure if this has happend to anyone else or if my 360 is messed up.
Redoing Mehrunes Razor
Is there anyway I can redo the Mehrunes Razor quest? I lost the dagger when I deleted the downloaded content and then redownloaded it(on 360) in order to solve my problem where it wouldn't load ANY of the downloads. I figured out it was a XBLive problem later on, but now I no longer have Mehrunes Razor.
- You should receive the quest update again as soon as you load the Plug in. Removing the plug in removes all quest specific content, including items and journal entries. If you reload the plug in, you should receive the quest as per usual when loading a game subsequently. --Saruuk 18:41, 14 September 2007 (EDT)
Atronach Bodies Don't Dissapear From Frostcrag Spire
Anyone else have the problem in Frostcrag Spire where the bodies won't dissapear? I was creating Atronaches from the Altar in the Spire, and using defeating them in order to raise my levels. However, after I defeat them, unlike other situations, the bodies of the Atronaches don't dissapear, and remain on the floor. I have a stack of various Atronaches that have been there for lord knows how long, and I can't seem to get rid of them. Is there ANY way to get rid of them? If someone could try and replicate this glitch, to see if it is a widespread case, or just a problem with my game, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have encountered the same problem, and I still have the rocks laying outside of Frostcrag. Sadly, I dont think you can fix this, but try making the bodies into something cool. For instance, stick the headpiece for the bodies on the table, or just pile up the rocks in the corner and hit them with a spell for fun!-Mr. V 20:37, 17 September 2007 (EDT)
Possible Glitch: Normal NPC's walking in Daedra Armor?
I'm not sure, but I don't think it's normal for NPC's to wear Daedra armor is it? Don't they usually freak out and THEN wear it and attack? These NPC's are just talking, normal, NPC's. I could be wrong, but I thought I'd post it anyway. In my game, I think the NPC is in one of the Inn's near the Imperial City (either N. of city or outside city gates...I think)
Help! Display Error at Altars of Enchanting/Spellmaking
Hi, can anyone offer any ideas on fixing a display error at the Altar of Enchanting? After I add an item and a soul gem and select an effect, the screen that pops up doesn't show the adjuster bar, it just shows a fluorescent pink "5" in the upper left corner. If I click "OK", the effect is set to the miniumum level (eg Shield 10%). On the Altar of Spellmaking, the weird pink "5" is still there, but the slider bars still appear and seem functional. I've recently added some mods for the first time, so I assume one of them is the culprit, but even if I disable all of them the bug is still there. Does anyone know how I can manually reset the display to its default condition, or edit it using the console to make it operative again??? Thanks so much --Arigem 03:48, 16 September 2007 (EDT)
- Wait--am I an idiot? Enchanting armor/clothing doesn't come with the slider option? All enchantment levels are fixed? I tried enchanting a weapon and got functional sliders to appear. Of course, the weird pink "5" is still there, but that's not a critical problem. Well, guess I'll make do with 10% shield enchantment unless someone sets me straight... display is still whacked though...--Arigem 23:58, 17 September 2007 (EDT)
Question about the frostcrag glitch
Well, I was just wondering if there is any way to do the frostcrag spire glitch without losing all of my items. If there is please explain how. I have so many items in frostcrag that the game slows down when I open the chest.--66.191.171.90 14:15, 19 September 2007 (EDT)
- Moving all of your items out of Frostcrag Spire and into storage into a standard house would work. Otherwise, no, it's not possible to do the glitch without losing items stored in Frostcrag Spire. It's also not possible to do it without losing items you obtained from the mod. You are deleting all information about Frostcrag Spire from your game, so it's not too realistic to expect that items won't disappear. Also, it is a glitch: it is not a feature that is supposed to be used and therefore it wasn't exactly designed to be problem-free. --NepheleTalk 02:50, 20 September 2007 (EDT)
