Abnur Tharn and Khamira ride up on a burning Khajiiti settlement clearly suffering from a dragon attack. The nameless Breton hero awakens from under the rubble, now a necromancer. The Breton hero faces the dragon in combat, introducing the audience to one of the player necromancer's class abilities: the Bone Goliath Transformation. Ultimately, the Hero's strength alone is not enough to beat the dragon down: he is swiftly joined by Khamira and the elder Tharn, though the odds are still not quite in their favor.

Soon enough, Sai Sahan rolls in with the newly reformed Dragonguard, bringing with them a dragonhorn and ballistae with bolts large enough to pierce a dragon's armored hide. The Dragonguard's contribution is enough to turn the tide, and the dragon is brought down by a well-timed bolt shot to the breast.

They find themselves in a village ravaged by a harrowstorm: corpses are strewn about, a gray reliquary lies empty, and a few expended stone husks sit before an Icereach witch's ritual circle. After being hit, the Nord hero closes his eyes and focuses, hitting the one of the invisible assailants when next it strikes and giving Lyris the chance to stomp it into the ground. The trailer begins with Lyris Titanborn and the nameless Nord hero from the original trailers throwing a torch into a chasm to see how deep it is before climbing down with a small contingent of soldiers. They find themselves in Blackreach, just outside Greymoor Keep. A nearby door opens into the Stone Husk Gallery, where at first, the soldiers are merely unnerved by the occasional blue glow emanating from the structures. Their caution is justified when famished werewolves begin emerging from the stone husks. Lyris and the nameless Nord hero fight them off as the soldiers push the door at the far end of the room open. After some struggle, the door yields and the two rush in, barricading it with Lyris' axe to keep the canine horde off them. They look ahead to see the last of the soldiers being suffocated by a vampire lord down the hall. More Gray Host vampires creep out from the shadows, and the Ashen Lord awakens the rest of the stone husks in the gallery behind him before engaging the protagonists.

The cinematic starts with the banners belonging to the major factions of the Three Banners War being burned. On the streets, the Ascendant Order is doing battle with Systrean guards. Up on top the central castle, a green blast opens up a hole in the walls and launches the Ascendant Lord back. Out emerges the High Elf Hero, Breton Hero, and Nord Hero to confront him.

Outnumbered, the Ascendant Lord focuses on disabling his opponents and keeping them on one side. He knocks the Elf down, nearly overpowers the Breton off the roof, and knocks the Nord back. During the conflict, he deflects the Elf's magical blast and sends her flying, after he gets disarmed, he breaks the Nord's axe and manages to beat all three down. In a final push, the Elf attempts to restrain her enemy, but he breaks out of the magical chains. The Nord stabs the Ascendant Lord with his own sword, but he pulls it out and he remained determined to go on. Finally, the Breton slashes at his legs, and the Elf pulls down a stone structure directly above him, causing the Ascendant Lord to crash into the floor below. After the fight, Mount Firesong erupts in the distance The camera pans back to the presumed dead Ascendant Lord, who curls his hand into a fist.
