WelcomeEdit
Hello Nikofeelan! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:
- Policies and Guidelines: UESPWiki standards and expectations
- Quick Editing Guide: a quick guide to wiki markup
- Getting Started: how you can help
When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our Patrollers really appreciate it!).
Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox and don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors if you need any help. Have fun! --Wolok gro-Barok 12:22, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
He does not offer any servicesEdit
Hey there! While we appreciate your help on the NPC pages, you should know that the sentences "he is not involved in any quests" and "he does not offer any services" should no longer be added to the pages. Please see the guidelines for the ONPCRP for more info - and what you can do to help out. --Krusty 18:22, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
Hieronymus Lex's FactionsEdit
Hi there! I've checked the Construction Set for anything that suggests that Hieronymus Lex joins the Anvil factions, but I can't find anything and have therefore undone the related edits. If you can provide evidence to justify your edits, please post on the article's talk page or leave a detailed edit summary. Thanks! –Eshetalk 00:43, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know if Lex gets added to those factions, but since that's mentioned on his page it's probably true. However, we have guidelines for listing factions. Right now one of them is that we only list factions on an NPC's page when that particular NPC starts the game in that faction. Since Lex supposedly gets added to those factions upon completion of Taking Care of Lex, we don't list them. The same goes for all the tables on the faction's pages. Hieronymus Lex shouldn't not be in the table. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 21:30, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
NPCs SummariesEdit
Hey! I see that you've been doing some edits to certain NPCs summaries. While it is not something bad, the info that you are posting is wrong, since they're not values taken from the game, they're taken from the CS, so those values are the correct ones (even though if they are ironic).--MC• S'drassa •T2M 01:54, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
- Look, for the NPC pages we use the Construction Set as a bible. It is far simpler that way, as there's no arguing over factions and such. In the Construction Set, things are written in stone. Now, if you disagree, you're welcome to start a policy discussion about it on the Community Portal, but further attempts to change NPC pages without changing the guidelines could be seen as vandalism, and the appropriate action will be taken to stop such vandalism.--Ratwar 02:31, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
WarningEdit
Look, I gave you an unofficial warning about editing NPC templates outside of the guidelines. You have continued to do so, despite being linked to a place where it would be acceptable to attempt to change the guidelines. You have made no attempt to discuss the situation besides pointless edit wars. Therefore, I am giving you an official warning, since your behavior qualifies as vandalism. If you continue to abuse your editing privileges, this account will be blocked from editing. —Ratwar 02:50, 9 January 2010 (UTC) |
Please stop adding the info back again. I know you are assuming good faith but if Ratwar has reverted your recent edits it must be for a good reason. If you continue behaving like this you will probably get blocked for ignoring the warnings that have been given to you, so please stop adding the same info back. --MC• S'drassa •T2M 03:41, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
BlockingEdit
This IP address has been blocked from editing UESPWiki for two days due to edit warring on the Hieronymus Lex page. If you wish to appeal the block, you may make your request on your talk page, which you can still edit even while being blocked. —Ratwar 04:23, 9 January 2010 (UTC) |
BlockingEdit
I don't understand why I've been blocked. I've done nothing wrong. I've just been trying to help out. The editing on the Hieronymus Lex page was only an effort to try to help. I am not trying to vandalize at all. I eventually have given up and made a message that no future members will add the Anvil factions. I don't think it's vandalizing at all. I think this is all a big misunderstanding.Nikofeelan 04:32, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
- You need to read some of the links you were given above. In particular, you don't seem to have read this page about what happens after your edit is saved. You made an edit to Arkved's page on November 27, which was reverted with the edit summary "original values taken from the construction set were correct". You made the same edit on 16 December and again it was reverted, this time with the comment "They are values, not actual aggresiveness, and are taken from the construction set". You made the same edit on 9 January, which was reverted yet again. Even after several people posted advice on your talk page you continued to add incorrect material without asking why it kept getting removed. As the first link I provided says, "If you would like to understand why your edit was changed there are several possible courses of action", but re-adding the same information is not one of them.
- The values we use for factions, aggression, responsibility and everything else are taken directly from the game files using the Construction Set. They aren't matters of opinion. In this edit you mention that you've looked at Amusei's page where a faction that he joins later in the game is listed. Yes, it is. But it's listed with information about when he joins the faction, something that could have served as a hint. Incidentally, I double-checked Adamus Phillida and he is definitely in the Leyawiin faction right from the start.
- The details we take from the CS are often not what might be expected and can be confusing for people who don't know exactly what they are for. Perhaps in the future it would be better if you tried to improve other areas of the site instead? –rpeh •T•C•E• 07:21, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Edit SummariesEdit
Hey there! I just wanted to ask if you could try to leave more edit summaries on your edits, to explain the changes you have made to a particular page when editing. It's really helpful to other users. Thanks so much! ABCface◥ 13:07, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Editing pages multiple timesEdit
Hey, can I ask you to use the Show Preview function a bit more often? Lately you've been making multiple edits to pages within very short amounts of time, and the extra edits look like little things that could be fixed by using Show Preview, and it would be nice if you could confine it to just one edit. RedirectsEdit
Hey Nikofeelan. I’ve noticed all the redirects you’ve been adding to NPC pages, and I think they are a bit unneeded. 90% of the NPCs in Skyrim has an alternate name; Elisif the Fair is called Elisif, true – but an awful lot of NPCs has a short name (just look through cslist) and it’s definitely something that should be discussed on the Community Portal before adding them. Also, if people spell names wrong, it really their problem - we can't really make redirects like this - because we can't predict every spelling error people can come up with. --Krusty 19:05, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
