Detailed WalkthroughEdit
Illene Teloth asks you to deal with a tense situation at Vys-Assanud, a monastery dedicated to St Aralor. Heresy is suspected at the monastery, and Ordinators of War are camped outside, ready to purify the area. Illene wishes you to evaluate whether the monks are truly guilty, and give the go-ahead to the Ordinators if so. Travel to Vys-Assanud, by exiting Almas Thirr on its west side, and then heading north past three Hlaalu lookout towers until you reach the high, rocky island on which the monastery is located.
On reaching the monastery, put on the Mantle of the Inquisitor given to you by Illene. The Ordinators will not otherwise heed you. After doing so, speak to them, and they will ask you to talk to the priestess in charge - Galvenu Telesi. To do so, you will need to proceed into Vys-Assanud. The route takes you through a recently caved-in mine.
The MineEdit
A decent amount of gold and an emerald are present on the top platform on the north side of the first chamber. On circumventing that chamber, you will arrive at a T-junction.
- Right takes you towards a flame atronach. The chest in the same chamber has a good amount of gold.
- Left takes you to the monastery interior.
The MonasteryEdit
The priestess, Galvenu Telesi is on the top floor, next to the shrine. Introducing yourself as an inquisitor (while wearing the mantle) will have her invite you to look around, to clear the monastery's name.
- Checking the shrine shows that it has been defiled.
- Two slaves, on either side of the top floor, speak of 'terrible things'.
- A Dremora named Vyssar can be found on the floor below, and notes that the monastery is pledged to Mehrunes Dagon.
Return to Galvenu Telesi. While she will attempt to explain away the slaves and shrine, the Dremora is a little damning. Challenging her on it will have her confess to her heresy, but she will allow you to leave without a fight. Return to the Ordinators at this point, and order them to either purge the monastery, or let it be. If you order the monastery purged, you will need to join the fray to ensure that all heretics inside are dead, before returning to Illene - you will be rewarded with scrolls, and permanent possession of the Mantle if your rank is Adept or higher. If you order the monastery left alone, returning to Illene will complete the quest, but no reward will be given.
After the PurgeEdit
- The Dremora drops a reasonably valuable Great Mace of Hellfire.
- The slaves can be released at this point. The key is on Galvenu's corpse.
- A copy of the controversial tome On the Importance of Heresy can be found on the top floor.
