Bloodskal Barrow Word WallEdit
Alright, last night I made it all the way through this dungeon and up to the point where you pick up the black book. Before this you had to fight a boss. A dragon priest I believe. Behind him was a word wall, but it's unique from the others in the way it looks. When I walked up to it I heard the usual chanting, but there was no glowing word there for me to absorb. I tried slashing it with the BloodSkal blade, but that did nothing.
Is this word wall just there for looks? Or is this a glitch? Digerati (talk) 16:26, 15 December 2012 (GMT)
- I think the word wall you're referring to is actually in Raven Rock Mine, and it sounds like a glitch, because that one should definitely work. — ABCface◥ 17:57, 17 December 2012 (GMT)

- A little over 8 years late, but I found a solution from the Steam Forums Steam forums: While you're still far enough away to see the word glowing, try Whirlwind Sprinting into the wall, aimed at the word. If it doesn't work at first, try again, ensuring that you're just close enough to barely make it with two or three words of the shout. Rabbitflyer (talk) 03:44, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

- In the intervening time, that solution has already been added to the Bugs section of the Raven Rock Mine article. Thanks for sharing, though. Better to have the solution in multiple places than none at all! – Robin Hood (talk) 04:13, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

trappedEdit
I am in Bloodskal Barrow & have retrieved the Bloodskal sword. However, I am unable to get out of the area from which I acquired the sword. When I use a power attack the energy is released, but the red lines do not move & the door does not open. Am I doing something wrong? I play on a x-box 360. I have spent the better part of a game day attempting to get past the door & nothing persists in happening. Adam413 13:09, 10 October 2013 (GMT)Adam413
- I like the phrase "nothing persists in happening". Are you moving your character sideways while you power attack with the sword, causing the sword to slash sideways in-line with the horizontal red lines in the archway? It's a little bit tricky keeping yourself aimed at the red lines while stepping sideways and power-attacking, all at the same time. If you think you're doing it right, try saving, completely exiting the game, and reloading and trying again. If you are absolutely positive you're doing it right, and it still won't work, then you may be experiencing a bug. --Xyzzy Talk 14:20, 10 October 2013 (GMT)
Preemptive StrikeEdit
Gunmar (Dawnguard) sometimes assigns this destination for the corresponding radiant quest. Apparently even if you've never yet been to Solstheim, as occured to me in my most recent SSE playthrough on Xbox One. --SCarverOrne (talk) 03:02, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
- Any radiant quest can send you to Solstheim and any of its locations or inhabitants if they match the requirements for the quest. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 03:13, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

By the nine, who is this guy! — Unsigned comment by 76.64.247.90 (talk) at 14:26 on 4 January 2021
- Given the location of the note, Meryn may be a member of the gang of marauders who have taken up residence in the towers. -MolagBallet (talk) 18:27, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
