Magistrix Vox and the enslaved souls
The time to confront Vox has arrived—but it seems that to defeat her, I need to die by her hammer. The Blessing of Veloth should protect me, but can I return from the dead?

Quick WalkthroughEdit

  1. Talk to Vox.
  2. (Choice) Hear Vox out or have none of it (either way you die).
  3. Talk to the three trapped souls, and free them.
  4. Defeat The Keeper
  5. Have the spirits on the locks at the same time to unlock them
  6. (Choice) Either condemn Meram Vox or be kind to him.
  7. Destroy the soul wells and face Vox.
  8. Talk to Almalexia.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Now that you understand Vox, you are ready to face her. You will have to die, but Saint Veloth's blessing will keep you connected to Tamriel while you free the souls Vox trapped.

Enter Vox's Hollow and talk to Vox. She is surrounded by four Enslaved Spirits. She offers to make you her ally, an offer you can reject or accept. Either option will provoke her into striking you with Veloth's Judgment.

You awaken in the spirit version of Vox's Hollow. Meram Vox is there in spirit form. He doesn't remember anything but the spirit realm. The spirits are held in place by something called the Keeper.

Meram Vox and his companions

Freeing Ordinator Da'ravis and Priest MalvariEdit

You need to free his two companions, Ordinator Da'ravis and Priest Malvari. They are standing on both sides of Meram Vox, and have been bound to this realm by a being called the Keeper. Malvari says a puzzle keeps her trapped in the spirit realm. On the eastern dais, two keys need to be in place on two locks at the same time. You need to hit the orbs so they both line up on the sigils that lie on either side of the dais.
You can persuade Da'ravis for advice on how to defeat the Keeper if you have the Persuasion Perk from the Mages Guild skill line. The Keeper heals himself with the blue flames around the western dais. If you destroy them, the Keeper will not be able to heal himself.

Freeing Meram VoxEdit

Meram Vox asks you to set him free. The Keeper's master wanted Meram to decide to be free when his memories returned. You can choose to tell him he was "an innocent caught in a power struggle" or "a fanatic devoted Daedric princes." If you tell him he was an innocent, you can then choose to tell him to forget what happened or that he killed innocent people. He will still join you if you tell him he killed innocents. He opens the portal to the Reservoir of Souls.

You destroy the three soul wells, which are emitting a blue glow. After you do so, you will be able to defeat Vox who appears in the east end of the room. As she dies a bright light fills the room. It is Almalexia. She returns Veloth's Judgment to the temple and gives you a reward.

Completing this quest gives you the achievement Vox Slayer. A portal behind you will return you to Mournhold.

* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
