Martin's DeathEdit
I encountered a bug when Martin died. As I was loading a game saved immediately after leaving the Elder Council chambers and before Martin was in combat and had a chance to die, I received a message immediately after loading saying that he had died. — Unsigned comment by 71.221.67.37 (talk) at 07:15 on 19 December 2009
- as did I, though it was solved by reloading. — Unsigned comment by 74.39.18.171 (talk) at 07:37 on 29 March 2010
Where's the messenger?Edit
Martin will walk into the room, close the door and then open it again...this means the messenger never comes along. I am patched up all the way and still this happens! does anyone know how to fix this? — Unsigned comment by 94.5.27.46 (talk) at 16:50 on 3 April 2010
Guards kill Bauraus and Jauffre?Edit
"Sometimes when you enter the city, all the guards will start attacking Baurus and Jauffre. Since they are both killable now, the guards will make short work of them"
Is this true? I suspect this is from Baurus and Jauffre accidentally hitting, or landing a killing blow, on another npc during the Defense of Bruma. Is this a proven bug? Or just a random mishap for one unfortunate player? Just wondering if it should be removed or not. HARVEYtheDAMNED 21:15, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
- Personally have never witnessed this, assume it to be possible however unlikely. Walbert 23:12, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

- I had the same problem with chancellor Ocato killing Baurus and Jauffre. They were reverse pickpocketed to have enchanted bound cuirass and sword. Could the cuirass lower Ocato's disposition. — Unsigned comment by 198.168.48.130 (talk) at 20:22 on 28 February 2011

- This happens to me EVERY TIME. I just got through sitting in front of the TV for FIVE HOURS doing the last part in the Temple District over and over, because as soon as the Martin's end-game speech ends, Ocato, Baurus, and Jauffre start going at it the moment they step foot in the temple. Guard won't come into room (360)Edit
Every time I bring Martin to talk to Ocato, Ocato gets as far as saying "as soon as...", then just stops. I know that a guard is supposed to run into the room, but he never shows up. I made sure to keep the door open. How can I fix this? — Unsigned comment by 68.109.205.2 (talk) at 23:43 on 13 June 2010
- The very same thing happens to me aswell, also on a 360. i Get martin into The palace and sit him right next to Ocato and then hes announcing that Martin is now king, and then the game just doesnt do what its supposed to do. The guard doesnt run in and im forced to stand there only able to press start and load my previous game(my autosave and Save are at the exact same part)as soon as i walk in the palace and martin is already standing next to ocato, ive tried restarting my xbox, moving to different places in Cyrodil, Taking others with me like a Knight of the Nine and Etc. i really hope someone can address this issue id very much hate having to start a new game just so i can get the very last achievment on the main quest line, aside from that all i have to do is the Shivering isles, i suppose ican go off and do that for a time but like i said starting a new game just for the ENDGAME achievment would be a little more than bothersome more like complete and utter BUllcrap. please get back to me on this - Thanks- IVIr Awes0me - — Unsigned comment by 98.87.47.177 (talk) at 13:56 on 17 May 2011
- I had the same issue and asked about it further down the page. I have seen at least two different ways this can occur. I found that by clearing the Xbox 360's hard drive cache, you can do the floating paintbrushes glitch to go through the roof of the Temple of the One, where you will find a 2-D door leading to the destroyed Temple of the One, where you can continue the quest as normal. However, other more knowledgeable users than me have said that can corrupt files, and therefore should not be attempted. I would seriously look into the problem before trying what I did. - Just to specify, it was the unpatching of the game that might mess up your files. Jumping into the Temple and all that won't have any major detrimental effects. --Legoless 02:08, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- Are you implying that there are some minor detrimental effects? Nerevar Moon-and-Star 11:18, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

- Well, some NPCs might go missing. See if you can find Jauffre or Baurus if they're still alive. If not, they probably got stuck in one of the "invasion cells". But it should be a pretty foolproof fix if you were already on the quest in the first place, so you needn't worry. --Legoless 11:31, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Moved notesEdit
- When you enter the Temple District have all the speed bonuses you can get, run towards Mehrunes Dagon, get the Journal Entry, run back to Martin talk to him, then rush to the Temple door (just run the gap between Mehrunes Dagon and Temple walls). When you enter the Temple no matter how far Martin is he will enter the Temple with you. So, you can end the final part without swinging a sword or casting a spell.
- The Staff of Worms and the Skull of Corruption do not work on Mehrunes Dagon, since Dagon is treated as a creature, not an NPC.
- Enemies will not enter the Temple, so once you've escorted Martin inside, you can safely leave him there and play around with Dagon or collect souls and alchemy ingredients from the respawning Daedra, and pop back into the Temple whenever you need to heal. You may have difficulty getting your equipment repaired, however. It won't be a problem if you have a lot of repair hammers or if you are a master of Armorer.
- Having a Convalescence spell can be useful: Martin isn't marked essential anymore, is in the Emperor's Robes, and is equipped with a weak weapon. You could also use or create other spells to help keep him alive such as a long Shield spell or Fortify Health.
- All the Oblivion Gates close permanently after this mission so if you still want access to Sigil Stones you may want to hold off completing it or collect all the Sigil Stones you want first. However, the gates can be made to reopen using console commands.
- All Imperial City residents will be cowering in their homes once the attack starts, making their services unavailable for the remainder of the quest.

Messenger MissingEdit
I was doing the Light the Dragonfires quest, and died several times. Instead of continuing on, I lead Martin to the Elder Council Chambers, then left. I did a lot of quests and leveled up a few times, then returned to do the storyline. Upon entering, I recieved the quest update stating that Martin was lead to the Palace, then went into cutscene mode to witness his coronation. The doors were kept open, however the messenger never arrived, forcing me to load a previous save. What went wrong here? 64.121.112.180 20:09, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Emmm, how about leaving IC while doing a cell-changing quest? ;) --SerCenKing Talk 15:59, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- I left and did a lot of quests in lots of places, including A Brush With Death, then returned and tried again, but I still got stuck in cutscene mode. Any more suggestions? (Also, could you define cell-changing?) 64.121.112.180 21:33, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- What I mean is that by leaving at a focal moment in a very complex quest which actually changes some of the cells in the Imperial City (new Palace and Temple Districts full of Daedra are added) you've screwed it up beyond repair. I doubt there is any fix that will work. --SerCenKing Talk 13:57, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- If I un-patch my game, then do the floating paintbrushes glitch to get in the Temple of the One, will I still get the quest updates and be able to finish the quest? 64.121.112.180 19:37, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- I highley doubt it, like SerCen said, you may have damaged the cells beyond repair. You will have to start from scratch. --Manic 19:41, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, if you get inside the destroyed Temple of the One it might work. But unpatching your game is a bad idea; it might result in file corruption. I don't think it's the cells that are the problem anyway. Probably the scripting for the coronation scene got messed up. --Legoless 20:48, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- I unpatched my game before you replied, actually, and proceeded to do the glitch to go through the roof of the Temple of the One and enter the destroyed Imperial City. Upon exiting the quest Temple of the One, I found all of the rubble, oblivion gates, and other such things, but the sky was normal color. All of the normal daedra were there, along with the Imperial Palace guards that are spawned during Light the Dragonfires. Upon seeing the doors to the Palace District, I recieved a quest update that the city is under siege, followed by the sky turning red and Martin spawning where I was. The only difference from the normal quest was the fact that Dagon had not appeared. I proceeded to re-enter the Temple of the One and wait a few hours, until Martin found me in the Temple. He told me to get him to the temple, I got two quest updates because I was already at the Temple, then I went over to Martin to trigger the final cutscene. Quest completed? Yes. Achievement Unlocked? Yes. Game-breaking glitch? None apparent. Recieved next quest? Yes. Will I ever repeat that mistake? NO. Nerevar Moon-and-Star 01:35, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

(←) Thanks for the help guys, I really do appreciate it. You guys helped me get out of a really bad glitch. By the way, I think I sounded a little rude the way I wrote that last comment, sorry about that. Final Scene BugEdit
I'm not sure what causes this, which is why I'm mentioning it here and not putting it on the article, but I have encountered a bug that seems to stop Stage 45 from activating. Martin reaches the location inside the temple, but only says "Come on! We need to get to the Dragonfires before it's too late!", and so the final scene never starts. I've reloaded an old save right back to Cloud Ruler Temple at the beginning of the quest, Stage 5, (my oldest save) and it still happens. (I'm on Xbox 360, so I have no Console to advance the quest with.) --Enodoc 19:17, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Try waiting or hiting and yielding Martin. Also do not talk to Martin in the temple
- wait for him to come to you.79.97.40.245 19:40, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
-
- The issue was that it was him initiating the conversation with me, and even so, he would still only say that. I also tried yielding and everything else I could think of. However, when I tried yesterday, I didn't do anything different to what I'd been trying before, and it worked... so I no longer have the problem, but I don't know how it got fixed either. --Enodoc 17:12, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Canon question.Edit
Since Martin doesn't actually light the fires, doesn't this leave Tamriel, and Nirn as a whole, open to Daedric invasion? Just wondering. Apollo Quinn 16:43, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
- No because he beat the leader and thus the gates closed with him when he was cast into oblivion. Ziguildmaster 16:46, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

- The shattering of the Amulet of Kings permanently sealed the liminal barrier, preventing any future invasion of Mundus from Oblivion. --Legoless 17:09, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

will it be normal again?Edit
i was wandering will the imperial city still be all ashy or will it be rebuilt?— Unsigned comment by 99.68.109.46 (talk) at 06:17 on 15 October 2011

BountiesEdit
When i started this last quest, i know i had a bounty of 200000+ (the guards wouldn't leave me alone so i killed them XD) i finished talking to Chancellor Ocoto, then expected having to deal with the guards, but they didnt bug me. i went to check my bounty and it was reset to 0! if anyone else could confirm this and possibly add to 'Bugs' section, that would be great. 24.111.208.66 19:35, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Jauffre fighting Chancellor Ocato?!?Edit
After Martin had destroyed Mehrunes Dagon in the final scene I waited until the morning, Chancellor Ocato came in and was fighting Jauffre and he killed him. When I talked to him it was just normal- I couldn't ask him about it and all he did was offer me the imperial dragon armour. Why did this happen? — Unsigned comment by 2.100.125.247 (talk) at 20:29 on 2 February 2012
- It's almost certainly a one-off issue...perhaps Jauffre got in Ocato's way or vice versa during some other battle. I'd just reload from before that occurred and try again. – Robin Hood↝talk 23:43, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Nobody Talks About Anything Else?Edit
I accidentally had the glitch where I was wearing the Gray Fox Cowl and its effects were permanently bound to my person. Since my last save was HOURS back, I kept playing this way. Now that I beat the main quest, everyone only talks about my beating Dagon. Was all record of my past quests removed, or do they normally only talk about the defeat of Dagon when you do it? To test it myself would take hours to do, and my game seems to enjoy crashing a lot anyway, so much more time there as well. 99.52.200.110 18:08, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- Dialogue related to defeating Dagon has a high priority, meaning NPCs will talk about it a lot. Nothing to worry about, it's not a glitch. —Legoless 10:49, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
Game crashes when Martin/Akatosh turns to stoneEdit
I honestly have no idea how this happens, but I have been able to play through the entire questline, including SI and KOTN. For some reason, however, when I watch the final immobile cutscene in which Martin and Dagon duke it out, the game crashes just as Dagon's banished and Martin should turn to stone. I've been able to skip to the bink epilogue video, but when I re-enter, the scene starts playing, only I can now move. The temple and Imperial City reverted to their appearances as per the beginning of the game, and there's no sign of Martin (apart from conversation topics). As far as I can tell, the game's entirely playable, but it doesn't seem to register that I've beaten the main quest. The only way to start Imperial Dragon armor is via setstage, and it's downright disappointing. Any ideas? — Unsigned comment by Davemon1 (talk • contribs) at 13:53 on 30 August 2013
Glitch when using glitchEdit
I performed the floating paint brush glitch to enter the door to the quest through the roof of the Temple of the One, but ran into an issue. I never returned the amulet of kings to Jauffre, so Martin is stuck in Kvatch while I'm stuck in the Temple District when he should be at the temple to initiate the ending cutscene. I've tried waiting for several days, but he never appeared. Is there a known fix to this? I don't have a previous save to reload. If there isn't a fix, my save file is now dead. (Playing on 360)— Unsigned comment by 173.64.90.59 (talk) at 02:03 on 8 January 2015
- If I'm reading this correctly and remember my own in-game experiences, there isn't anything wrong: Martin shouldn't come if you haven't progressed this far in the questline. Entering the Temple with the floating paint brushes only shows the Temple as it would during this quest, it doesn't skip the entire story line. Does this make sense? •WoahBro►talk 02:09, 8 January 2015 (GMT)
- Oh. That makes sense. I guess it won't take too long to emulate my character. I just have to redo the arena and DB, as well as a few sidequests. RIP Kaavasha I... Thanks for informing me.— Unsigned comment by 173.64.90.59 (talk) at 02:37 on 8 January 2015
- Actually, for me the use of the brush glitch worked just fine, I am level 17 but never really started the quest (OK gave the amulet to Jauffre but Martin still in Kvatch); I went out of the temple, triggered the "Dagon is here" line, went back in, waited for 24h, Martin arrived, and eventually SEAN BEAN DIED. However, when I get out of the ruined Temple of the One back to the City, it reverts to the unruined city with an intact Temple, but with Ocato my best friend and people talking of how I saved the world. Going back in does not retransform the Temple in a ruin. Going to Kvatch still under siege with the main gate, I could not find Martin in the chapel. Did not try the Breaking the siege of Kvatch quest after "completing" the main quest for the moment... 86.211.249.116 23:53, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
