Shardborn
"I remember our realm—Mirrormoor! Ithelia's servants awaken!"
—Torvesard[1]

The Shardborn are a clan of Dremora in service to Ithelia, the Prince of Paths. In battle they don armor of fractured glass, molded with creatia by the clan's master glass-smiths.[2] The Shardborn are native to the realm of Mirrormoor, a plane of Oblivion that was shattered and forgotten in the Merethic Era when Hermaeus Mora imprisoned Ithelia and wiped all memory of her from existence.[3][4]

The Shardborn re-emerged from obscurity in 2E 582 when Torvesard succeeded in restoring his memory of Ithelia and her realm of Mirrormoor. This knowledge allowed him to awaken the servants of Ithelia, with the Shardborn counted among them.[1] The Shardborn invaded the Mythos of Apocrypha in response to his call.[5] They subsequently aided the champions of Mirrormoor in invading Tamriel, summoned from Oblivion by ancient Mirrormoor mosaics dotted throughout the West Weald.[6] They were led by scions of Ithelia such as Torvesard and Shardmarshal Vargas, who were imbued with a desire to restore the memory of their forgotten Prince.[7]

Following Torvesard's defeat by the Vestige, his essence was consigned to nothingness by Ithelia, destroying him and thereby releasing him from service.[7] Ithelia was subsequently banished to the Many Paths, allowing Hermaeus Mora to once again wipe all memory of her existence.[8] Torvesard and the Shardborn were remembered only as rogue Dremora.[9]
