Detailed WalkthroughEdit
In the hills west of Menaan, you can find two Bretons, Corane Morianne and Francessa Morianne standing outside Olthan Ancestral Tomb. Francessa will direct you towards her husband, Corane, and speaking to him will reveal that he is seeking a guide through the ancestral tomb. They are nobles from High Rock, and their previous guide proved reluctant to show them inside such a complex. Corane will ask you to play the role. If you accept, enter the tomb.
On entering, you will find that the two have followed you. You can at this point simply leave the tomb again—they will pay you 100 gold simply for the privilege of having been inside (you may need to re-enter for the reward to trigger), although they won't be very enthusiastic about their experience. To earn greater rewards, you'll need to bypass the level 20 locked door at the end of the first section. Unlock the door, and enter. Corane will follow, and your journal will update. Once this has happened, speak to him. He'll note that he's pocketed an amulet as a souvenir.
You can pre-empt this light bit of theft by grabbing the Ancestral Amulet in this room before he reaches it, in which case he will only compliment you on how nice it looks. This will give you slightly more control over the events that follow.
Exit the room, and you will be greeted by an Ancestor Ghost, who is keen for the amulet's return. Refusing will prompt the ghost to attack, alongside Bonewalker allies. You'll need to fight and kill it, while ensuring that the two tourists don't die in the process. Assuming they both survive, they will be greatly excited. Exit the tomb. You will be attacked by a living relative of the Olthan family.
Alternatively, you can agree to the ghost's request, either giving back the amulet if you have it or by retrieving the amulet from Corane—by killing him, pickpocketing the jewel, or by persuading him to return it. You can accomplish the persuasion with either 70+ disposition or 60+ Speechcraft. Do not choose the dialogue option, The ghost wants the amulet back, or Corane will initiate combat.
On leaving the tomb, you will be greeted by a living relative of the ancestors interred within. Gilmaso Olthan—who is also the Bretons' previous guide. If you have (re)killed his ancestors, he will be incensed and attack, forcing you to kill him. You can then speak to Corane for a 1,000 gold reward. If you returned the amulet to his ancestor however, Gilmaso will thank you and grant you the Olthan Family Ring for keeping the peace. Assuming that Corane is also alive and gave the amulet back to you willingly, you can speak to him also for 500 gold in payment.
BugsEdit
- In some releases of the mod, the initial topic to begin the quest does not appear when speaking to Corane. To begin, use the following console command: AddTopic "guide through the ancestral tomb"
- While there is an Olthan Ancestral Tomb Key on a sarcophagus, next to a steel shield, it does not actually unlock the door in the tomb.
- Francessa Morianne does not always follow you into the tomb, although she has dialogue for the experience.
- If Corane dies to the bonewalkers, Francessa Morianne may join Gilmaso Olthan in attempting to kill you.
Quest StagesEdit
The following Journal ID and Index codes can be used with the Journal
console command to manually update the quest to a certain point.
