Detailed WalkthroughEdit
This quest can be started after Crustacean Extermination has been completed by talking to Viriya:
- Know of anyone in need of fishing work around Skyrim?
- "Of course. It's all in this note."
She will hand you the bounty, read it and you will learn of a monsterous horker known as Fangtusk, which has been terrorizing fishermen north of Hollyfrost Farm.
You need to obtain an arctic grayling and then head northeast of Yngol Barrow to a rock by water that has two skeletons lying next to it, place the arctic grayling on the rock and Fangtusk will emerge from the icy water.
Once you have killed Fangtusk, inspect his body and you will find vampire dust, vampire gloves, and a Vampiric Ring, suggesting Fangtusk ate a vampire.
Take this ring to the steward of Windhelm and speak to them:
- Fangtusk has been slain.
- "It's really dead, then? It may be dead now, but... where did it come from?"
- An enchanted ring in Fangtusk's gut seems to have been the source of its power.
- "You've done well."
- Travellers should be safe now. At least, safe from giant vampire horkers.
- "Thank you. Here, this is for you."
- Alright, I've held up my end of the bargain. Time to pay up.
- "Thank you. Here, this is for you."
You will then be rewarded 200 gold.

Notes
- Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game. - Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
