Detailed WalkthroughEdit
Guard BarracksEdit
To start this quest go to the Whiterun Guard Barracks and read the dossier which is found on a shelf in the back room.
Embershard MineEdit
Head to Embershard Mine just southwest of Riverwood. Battle on through the numerous bandits (some noticeably wearing the armor) and make it to the final grand waterfall chamber. Here battle some more bandits including a Chief Bandit wearing the full set and the Orc woman Yakhtu gra-Orkulg. Loot her body to find Yakhtu's Journal. Read it to complete the quest.
Finally loot the Bandit Chief to acquire an enchanted full set. Upon leaving the mine you'll have several sets of Orcish Plate Armor including the enchanted one.
NotesEdit
- As detailed on the Embershard Mine page, the actual chief bandit in here is not actually designated a "Bandit Chief" by name, and appears to just a normal "Bandit", until you search his corpse and find out that he's carrying the good stuff.
- If the cave is already in a "Cleared" state when you enter it, and has not respawned normally, a few bandits including the chief will still be spawned. The chief will still drop his full enchanted set, but there is no guarantee of getting a full unenchanted set of Orcish Plate from the few bandits in the cave if it has not had time for a full respawn.
- As a result of the cave having a maximum level as well as a minimum, Yakhtu (min level 15, scales up with player) will be considerably tougher than the bandit chief she technically serves (max level 10).
- Yakhtu has a named key, which opens a locked chest of smithing supplies next to the table in the large room.

Notes
- Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game. - Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage ccBGSSSE054_Quest stage
, wherestage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest usingresetquest ccBGSSSE054_Quest
.
