So what are you in for?Edit
Before throwing you into Cidhna Mine, the guards were careful enough to remove all of your equipment, leaving weapon-based characters at a distinct disadvantage. If you chat to your fellow inmates, however, you will learn that Grisvar the Unlucky has a spare weapon, and might be willing to let you have it.
If you want to get ahead, get a shivEdit
Grisvar admits to having an extra shiv but isn't keen to part with it. He is something of a Skooma addict, and has heard that Duach has got a bottle of the good stuff. Grisvar claims to be "shaking just thinking about it", and wants you to obtain the bottle for him.
Distilled PleasureEdit
Grisvar isn't as discerning as his request makes him seem, and will accept any bottle of Skooma. Several of the mine's inmates possess bottles of Skooma but Duach is often to be found on his own, making it easier to pick his pockets or kill him quietly. You can also try to pass a Speech check with Duach or beat him in a brawl to make him hand over his bottle. However you obtain the Skooma, take it back to Grisvar.
Forlorn hopeEdit
The Skooma is warmly received, and Grisvar gladly hands over his spare shiv. He asks you to promise you won't ever use it on him - and it's perhaps just as well that no option to accept the promise is offered.

- The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 40, 50, 200.
- Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game. - Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage FreeformCidhnaMineA stage
, wherestage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest usingresetquest FreeformCidhnaMineA
