Kjenstag Ruins

Kjenstag Ruins is a small outdoor Nordic ruin east-northeast of Morthal.

WalkthroughEdit

It is a circular ruin with an arched entrance to the north. Inside there is a short central wall with an empty stone table in front and an adept-locked wooden chest behind. It is possible to climb to the top of the walls via the southeast where the structure has partially crumbled, or to the west by climbing a rock formation and jumping from there. However, apart from the view, there is nothing of interest up there. There are also no harvestable plants in the immediate vicinity.

Upon approaching the ruins at night between 8pm and 5am, an unnamed ghost will run from the entrance, leading you to an unmarked barrow just southeast of Hjaalmarch Stormcloak Camp. The barrow is being robbed by two bandits, one of which is carrying the Block skill book A Dance in Fire, v2. The barrow itself features a trapdoor covering a spiral staircase leading down to a sarcophagus containing a mummified draugr and three items of leveled loot: a weapon, a necklace, and a shield. As the ghost only appears once, it might be easy to miss.

NotesEdit

  • If you happen upon the unmarked barrow between 5am and 8pm and open the trapdoor before approaching Kjenstag Ruins, the ghost will not appear. The sarcophagus containing the mummified draugr and loot will be open when you return to the barrow.[verification needed]
  • If you kill the ghost before arriving at the unmarked barrow, you can get a complete set of Ancient Nord Armor from its ashes.
  • Down the hill from the ruin to the north, behind a rocky cliff face and between two dead trees, is an isolated wood chopping block.
  • Kjenstag Ruins also appears in ESO.
