There are two distinct Fortify Alteration effects: one from Alchemy-created potions and one granted by enchanting armor. Their effects are as follows.

In potions, Fortify Alteration increases the duration of Alteration magic.
The following alchemy ingredients can be used to create a potion of Fortify Alteration:

In enchantments, Fortify Alteration decreases the cost of Alteration spells, and the use cost of Alteration based enchantments.
The following items use this effect. You can learn how to enchant custom items with Fortify Alteration if you find one of the following items and disenchant it:
- All varieties of Armor, Helmets, and Rings of Alteration
- Includes the enchantments of Minor Alteration, of Major Alteration, of Extreme Alteration, of Eminent Alteration, and of Peerless Alteration.
- All varieties of Robes of Alteration
