Setting Tamriel

Project Tamriel (commonly abbreviated as PT) is a collection of collaborative fan-based modding projects working together to create all of Tamriel's provinces in Morrowind's engine, except for the Morrowind mainland and Black Marsh, which are being worked on by Tamriel Rebuilt. Like with Tamriel Rebuilt, these provinces are primarily being designed based on the lore found in the Elder Scrolls games predating Oblivion, with the Pocket Guide to the Empire, 1st Edition being the project's main source of inspiration; this decision was primarily made to preserve the vision and atmosphere of TES lore as it existed during Morrowind's release[nb1]. The provinces are also being designed to match the scale of Morrowind's game world (roughly twice as large as later titles) so that they can fit seamlessly with the original game.

Two major mods within Project Tamriel are currently publicly available, Skyrim: Home of the Nords and Project Cyrodiil. Additionally, Project Hammerfell and High Rock 427 are in active development and are expected to see releases in the near future.

Both the Tribunal and Bloodmoon official expansions are required to play these mods, as is the asset library Tamriel Data.

Released Projects

Internal Projects

  • Project Hammerfell — A project in early development stages to create Hammerfell, starting in Rihad
  • High Rock 427 (HR427) — A project in early development stages to create High Rock, starting with the easternmost Dragonfields region
  • Elsweyr: Paradise Sugar — Dummy project for preliminary discussion and planning of Elsweyr
    • The current name of the Elsweyr project references Paradise Sugar, a canceled sequel to Redguard. A previous project named Project Outreach existed with the same goal, but was abandoned at some point in the past.
  • Project Valenwood — Dummy project for preliminary discussion and planning of Valenwood
  • Summerset — Dummy project for preliminary discussion and planning of Summerset Isles

The Gridmap portrayed here shows all Project Tamriel, Tamriel Rebuilt, and Padomaic Isles landmasses, as well as theoretical areas for Yokuda (west), Pyandonea (south), and Akavir (east).

Note: The overall Gridmap is infrequently updated due to its extreme size and the difficulty of syncing updates from the individual provinces. Refer to the province maps for the most recent design decisions.
