Online talk:Emotes
SplitEdit
I see a split proposal was put here over two years ago. Do we want to get a bot to create all of these as their own articles? The Rim of the Sky (talk) 22:34, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
- The proposal was put, which should have led to the person explaining their reasoning here. And then a discussion. Which never happened.
- So no, we shouldn't split it. Tbh, we should remove the split tag if no discussion is going to happen.
- Edit: To elaborate, I'm unsure what the concern is, since there are many other, much larger pages that still load fine. I don't see the stuff here as loading slowly (which was the edit comment rational for splitting the article). Jeancey (talk) 22:59, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

- My proposal is not to delete the list from this page, but to move some of the info to separate pages. The table is currently massive, with some emotes having as many as six images. I can't think of any similar example on the wiki. I've restored the split tag to allow for discussion of this change. —Legoless (talk) 09:49, 16 June 2022 (UTC)

- I think we can keep the list and possibly have separate pages, like we do for Mounts for example. There's some points to consider:
- The Collectible emotes in my opinion should 100% be split into their own pages. They have prices, names, icons etc.
- GIFs for emotes should be made. This is what we do for Blades:Emotes, and rn its alright there since that game has 12 emotes as opposed to the 100 eso has. The "stills" we have are still beneficial so we shouldn't get rid of them, but as emotes are "moving" animations, GIFs should be prioritized

- I know this discussion is a little dated, but as I've been adding collectibles from Crown Crates it keeps coming to my attention that the emotes are the only rewards without their own pages. In addition, there's nowhere to connect the corresponding promotional images from the Crown Store with the individual emotes in the current setup. The Collectible Emotes page is also pretty long and difficult to navigate (even with the alphabetized sections).

- I agree about splitting them into their own pages and adding GIFs to those pages but keeping the current page with the static images too and just linking from there to the individual pages. In addition, would it be possible to add categories like with mounts or costumes to make it easier to find certain types of emotes such as dances or instruments? The categories from the game (ceremonial, cheers and jeers, emotion, entertainment, etc.) could be used for this. Although, I'm not sure they are the best way to divide up the emotes as some categories are a lot fuller than others.
