- Defeat Flame-Herald Bahsei after raising the challenge banner in Veteran Rockgrove.
Slay the Messenger is awarded for defeating Flame-Herald Bahsei in Veteran Rockgrove after raising the challenge banner, making the battle more difficult by the following:
- The enemies will be generally stronger.
- Creeping Eye portals: in the center appears a Creeping Eye, which has a circular area around it and 90° wide "cone of view" spanning to the edge of arena. After a short charge-up, both areas become active and send anyone caught in them to the "shadow" side of the arena. The direction that the eye "looks" initially, matches the directon Bahsei is facing at that moment. The eye will be turning clockwise or counter-clockwise (chosen randomly every time), very slowly at first, accelerating over time, effectively setting the time limit for this mechanic.
- This mechanic is on timer, take care and plan dealing with Bahsei's summons accordingly.
- Soul Crusher: Important! - portal requires exactly three players to be in it to complete. Presence of more than three players causes it to kill everyone inside after a short delay (however, you may still get away with it if the portal is closed during that delay). Triggering Soul Crusher doesn't wipe the rest of the group and may still be recovered.
- Bitter Marrow: players in portal take slowly increasing ticks of damage.
- Necrotic Essence: each player is chased by a slow AoE (lower Bahsei's health is, faster they move)[verification needed — seems so?], that explodes and kills the player on contact.
- There are numerous wraiths (more of them spawn in later stages of battle)[verification needed — seems so?], that die easily but reflect damage / deal damage back when hit[verification needed — not sure which exactly], so constant heal or other way of mitigating the damage is required. They all need to be killed to proceed, and will keep slowly spawning until that.
- Once there are no more wraiths left, chasing AoEs disappear, and three synergy spots are revealed. Players need to stand on each of them, aim at the portal and use Creeping Eye synergy to channel a beam of energy, which lasts for about 10 seconds (can also be interrupted by moving or blocking) and additionally heals the player to counteract portal's damage over time. While all three are synergizing, one similar point of synergy appears on the main arena, and using Creeping eye synergy there finally closes the portal.
- Malignant Marrow: lasting debuff that is placed on players in portal when it closes. Prevents entering another portal for (?) time, is removed on death.
- Faster meteor spawns[verification needed — seems so?]
