Quest-Related EventsEdit
When you approach him, he can be heard saying:
- Sergeant Stegine: "If the dreugh attack again, we're all dead."
If you take the quest directly from him:
- "The blasted dreugh are everywhere, and these citizens are brave, but they're no soldiers.
Can you help, stranger? It's desperate." - You say citizens and dreugh are fighting each other?
- "What else can they do? They have to defend their families.
Somehow, there are dreugh eggs scattered around the neighborhood. That seems to be what the creatures are after." - Why hasn't Wayrest sent soldiers to deal with this?
- "Dreughside is part of Baron Sorick's fief, but he refuses to send any soldiers. It's crazy.
We have to stop this before any more citizens get themselves killed. It would help if we got these eggs out of Dreughside and back to the pools." - I'll do what I can.
- "Mara bless you for helping these people. They don't have anyone else to turn to.
Just don't get yourself killed, all right?" - Anything else I can do?
- "Check on Adiel Charnis. Her house is just north of here. She told me dreugh took her husband.
I need to stay here to keep an eye on the defense, but I'd appreciate it if you could help her out."
If you continue the quest by being sent to talk to him:
- "The damned dreugh are everywhere, and these citizens have lost their minds!
They're attacking dreugh bare-handed. I've saved as many as I can, but that last dreugh wounded me. Help!" - That doesn't make any sense.
- "You're telling me! It was a slaughter, on both sides.
The sergeant said there were dreugh eggs among the houses, and the dreugh must have come after them. I don't know." - Why hasn't Wayrest sent soldiers to deal with this?
- "The slums are on Lord Sorick's land, but he refuses to send more soldiers. He acts like he's enjoying the slaughter!
We must stop this before all the peasants get themselves killed. You can help by taking eggs from the slums back to the pools." - I'll do what I can you end this invasion.
Stegine can be found on the road once the dreugh eggs have been returned.
- "The dreugh are thinning out, retreating.
Did you succeed?" - I returned the dreugh eggs to their nests.
- "Mara willing, that will calm the blasted things down.
Of course, there's still the matter of who brought the dreugh eggs here in the first place."
Once the quest is completed, Stegine can be asked further questions.
- "Dreughside's returning to normal. We'll cordon off the dreugh and let the guards sort things out.
Guess your work here's done." - You look like you have something on your mind, Sergeant. What is it?
- "It's Baron Sorick, the lord of this district. There's all this trouble with the dreugh, but he just blithely watches from the top floor of Arbogasque's house, apparently enjoying it.
I don't like it. The whole situation smells wrong."
