Inscribe a rune of cosmic fire on the earth, which takes 2 seconds to arm and lasts for 20 seconds. When triggered, the rune blasts all enemies in the target area for 6352 Flame Damage, knocks them into the air, and stuns them for 3 seconds. - Scalding Rune: Inscribe a rune of cosmic fire on the earth, which takes 2 seconds to arm and lasts for 20 seconds. When triggered, the rune blasts all enemies in the target area for 6352 Flame Damage and an additional [7607 / 7682 / 7749 / 7852] Flame Damage over 22 seconds.
Fire Rune creates a rune trap on the ground which deals Fire Damage to an enemy when they touch it. The Volcanic Rune morph will also knock up and stun most enemies, while the Scalding Rune morph adds a damage over time effect.
NotesEdit
- Only one Fire Rune may be active at a time. Casting a second one before the first has been triggered or expires will cause it to disappear.
- It is possible to affect multiple enemies at once with this spell if there are multiple enemies near each other when it arms. Casting the spell does not count as an attack, and will not cause enemies to attack you until after the trap has been triggered.
Patch NotesEdit
- Scalding Rune: Fixed an issue where the damage-over-time from this ability would stack multiple times on the same enemy. We also fixed an issue where there were multiple copies of the FX playing after this ability was cast.
- Might of the Guild: Fixed an issue with this passive where, when combined with using the ability Scalding Rune repeatedly, you could place many Runes down at one time.
- Shadow Cloak: This ability is no longer removed by the following ticking damage abilities.

- Fixed an issue where the explosion effects for this ability weren't playing when the ability triggered.
- Scalding Rune: The damage-over-time effect for this ability no longer stacks.
- Fixed an issue where this ability would play the explosion graphical effect over and over if an enemy got within range of the trap while behind a wall.
- Volcanic Rune: This ability no longer creates multiple projectiles when cast back to back.
- Updated the visual effects for Fire Run and both morphs.
- Volcanic Rune: Fixed an issue where this ability could push targets to areas where they get stuck.
- Fixed an issue where several damage over time effects were not allowing multiple casters to apply their own stack. For example, previously if two player characters cast Scalding Rune at the same target, only one of those effects would apply damage over time to the target. This is now corrected for the following abilities:
- Cripple
- Trap Beast
- Scalding Rune
- Poison Arrow
- Burning elemental status effect
- Poisoned elemental status effect
- Increased the initial damage done by this ability and its morphs by approximately 11%.
- Scalding Rune: Increased the damage of the Damage over Time component of this morph by an additional 33%.
- This ability and its morphs are now hidden to enemy player characters.
- Volcanic Rune: Fixed an issue where your character could slide on the ground after being knocked by this ability.
- Increased the damage of this ability and its morphs by 25% for the initial hit, and reduced the base cost to 3240 from 4050.
- Scaling Rune: Increased the Damage over Time of this morph by approximately 115% per tick.
- Volcanic Rune: This morph no longer increases the duration of the stun as the ability ranks up, but instead reduces the cost of the ability, down to 2970 at Rank IV.
- Scalding Rune:
- Reduced the damage per tick of this morph by approximately 36%.
- Fixed an issue where this ability and its morphs' screen shake would multiply based on the amount of targets hit, causing your camera to violently shake.
- This ability and its morph's traps now last for 15 seconds after their delay, rather than 30 seconds.
- Fixed an issue where the explosion from this ability and its morphs couldn't be seen by enemies.
- Scalding Rune (morph):
- Increased the duration of this morph's damage over time to 22 seconds, up from 12 seconds.
- Reduced the damage per tick by approximately 12%
