- Kill the Ash Titan.
- Kill Valkyn Skoria.
- Kill Valkyn Skoria after reading the Frigid Tome.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit
Speak to Glirion the Redbeard to get the details of this quest.
- What's the pledge today?
- "City of Ash. I'm embarrassed to say that a group of my fellow Undaunted helped an unwitting Bosmer open an Oblivion Gate there. Closing that portal—permanently—and defeating the Daedra within would be a feat worthy of an Undaunted."
- And if I can handle more than that?
- "I was going to challenge you to the test of the Frigid Tome, but I do not think you can handle it. You are welcome to prove me wrong."
- I pledge to explore City of Ash and return Undaunted.
Once you have accepted the quest, you can enter the City of Ash II dungeon either by accessing the dungeon through the Dungeon Finder, or heading to Greenshade and entering the dungeon there with a group. You have the choice of entering the normal dungeon or the veteran version, this choice will affect if you can achieve the optional step and your rewards.
When inside the dungeon, you will need to progress through the dungeon, slaying the following bosses, Horvantud the Fire Maw, Ash Titan and Valkyn Skoria. With the last boss, if you are in the veteran dungeon, you have the option of reading the Frigid Tome to activate hard mode before defeating the boss.
Once you have completed the task, you can return to Glirion the Redbeard at any of the Undaunted Enclaves, and speak with him to complete the quest:
- "You're here and still breathing. I assume the Oblivion Gate is shut?"
- The Oblivion Gate in City of Ash is shut.
- "Hearing tales of your success kindles the passion in my blood like few stories can. There are few even among the Undaunted who contest with Daedra and live to speak of it."
- Do you have passion enough to give me a reward? / Did I earn a reward?
Condition | Dialogue |
---|---|
Normal mode completed | "Yes, you did all right. Closed the portal, which was no simple task, and bulled your way through everything they threw at you. Quite Undaunted, if you ask me." |
Veteran mode completed | "Certainly. You've accomplished wonders today, Undaunted. Forcing the closure of an Oblivion Gate is a feat out of myth." |
Veteran Hard Mode completed | "Indeed, I must atone for doubting you. You took up the Frigid Tome and slew Valkyn Skoria without hesitation. The mark of true Undaunted. May this key and your cut help you forgive any offense my undeserved skepticism might have caused." |

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
