Detailed WalkthroughEdit
To the north of the Windridge Warehouse, you'll come across a "Weather-Beaten Trunk":
- <This old container has preserved the tattered remnants of a knight's garb, along with a journal and a crude map leading to a series of caves.>
- I wonder what's in this journal?
- <This writing is illegible, save for the last entry.>
"Eight forgive us! To stop The Three, we were forced to bury Sir Edain in the cave along with our enemies. We were following orders, but that made the task no less difficult." - I should check out these caves.
Travel to Windridge Cave where you'll find Sir Edain's Spirit waiting at the entrance. He tells you about the awakened spirits of The Three—Arie, Emory, and Gilbert—who need to be laid to rest.
- "These caves have been quiet for so long, but the winds have returned and our spirits with them.
You walk among the living, yet you speak to the dead. Will you help return us to rest?" - I can try. Why are you here, spirit?
- "I came here on a sacred mission—to slay the notorious bandits known as The Three.
I ventured into these depths leaving my fellow knights behind with orders to collapse the cave if I did not return.
This cave became my tomb." - So your mission failed?
- "Perhaps, but by sealing the cave, my fellow knights succeeded where I did not. The Three starved here in the darkness.
But now the cave is reopened and their spirits again threaten the land.
You must put their spirits to rest." - I'll do as you ask.
The knight will give you Sir Edain's Sword and you will have the opportunity to ask him several questions. He explains that, although the sword is too rusted to be used as a weapon, its enchantment is still intact and can be used to capture The Three's souls. He can also tell you more about The Three and their former lives as bandits.
Windridge Cave is a small cave occupied by hostile spectral archers, brigands, and rogues. Each member of The Three has a "Rocky Tomb" that needs to be activated to summon their spirit. Arie's tomb is located in the southeast corner of the cave, Emory's can be found in the northeast corner, and Gilbert's is in the northwest corner. Once you have defeated each of them, their souls will be trapped in Sir Edain's Sword.
Head down the middle passage until you arrive at a lava fissure. After you throw the sword into the fissure, it melts in the lava, and the souls of The Three appear. They cry foul before dissipating. Sir Edain's Spirit will reappear and thank you for destroying The Three and fulfilling his vow.
- "I sense a darkness lifted from the fiery depths.
Tell me, have you done the deed?" - It's done. The souls of The Three are destroyed.
- "I can feel the serenity flowing through my spirit already. By destroying their spirits with my blade, you have fulfilled my vow and released me from this plane. Thank you.
I'll return you to the surface now. Go with honor … and my gratitude."
Quest StagesEdit
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
