Quest-Related EventsEdit
After entering into the portal to Arcwind Point to pursue Thallik Wormfather. You will find the captain at the entrance to the barrow. She will be the sole survivor of a battle between Pact soldiers and Worm Cultists. The door to the barrow is protected by a necromantic ward which requires a living sacrifice to dispel it:
- "Thank Kyne! King Jorunn said you'd be coming, but I was beginning to have doubts.
We thought we had Thallik Wormfather cornered, but these damn cultists put up a fierce fight. My soldiers were all killed … I am the only one left." - Where did Thallik Wormfather go?
- "He's down below. He's got Wuuthrad down there too. I worry about what he might be planning.
I cannot get through the door though. It is bound by some horrid necromantic ward." - Is there any way to break the ward?
- "It requires a living sacrifice. Someone has to touch that gem over there in the ritual circle. They will die, but then the door can be opened.
One of the cultist members did it to open the door for Wormfather." - There must be another way.
She will consider sacrificing herself as there's no more time however you could consider sacrificing a Reachman prisoner to open the door:
- "No. There is no time. The door must be opened and you must go after Wormfather.
I'll make the sacrifice. It's the right thing to do. It'll ensure my place in Sovngarde at least." - Couldn't we sacrifice an enemy instead?
- "Hm. As dark as that may be, I can't say that I'd feel guilty. You know, back up near the portal, I think there was a Reachman in a cage. Perhaps he crossed the cult.
I suppose you could bring him here and trick him into touching the gem …?" - I'm not going to trick someone into killing themselves. [Captain Hrosta dies.]
- "I understand. He may be a Reachman, but we're not monsters. I'm ashamed I considered it.
Get him out of here. I'll open the door for you." - Thank you for your bravery. / Thank you for your bravery, Captain. Open the door.
- "Yes. That's it then, isn't it? Best get on with it.
It's a good end. Tell the others my story, would you? Tell them I died well. For the Pact and the Skald-King!"- I will.
- "I understand. He may be a Reachman, but we're not monsters. I'm ashamed I considered it.
- Good idea. I'll be back with him soon.
- "All right, but be quick.
Whatever Thallik Wormfather is doing down there, we need to get in there and stop him, and fast!"
- "All right, but be quick.
If you choose to sacrifice a Reachman prisoner but haven't escorted him yet:
- "What are you standing around for? I'm not proud of what we've decided to do, but we might as well get it over with."
If you choose to reconsider sacrificing Lesuin and return back to the captain without him. She will accept her fate to sacrifice herself:
- "I see. There really is no other way, is there?"
- Thank you for your bravery, Captain. Open the door. (Continues next step in quest)
If you chose to lie to Lesuin but have a change of heart, you may approach Captain Hrosta to deliberate his fate.
- "I'm not proud of what we've decided to do, but we might as well get it over with."
- I can't trick this man into killing himself. [Captain Hrosta dies.]
- "I understand. He may be a Reachman, but we're not monsters. I'm ashamed I considered it.
Get him out of here. I'll open the door for you." - Thank you for your bravery.
- "Yes. That's it then, isn't it? Best get on with it.
It's a good end. Tell the others my story, would you? Tell them I died well. For the Pact and the Skald-King!"
She will then sacrifice herself.
- Captain Hrosta: "Kyne, give me strength."
- Captain Hrosta: "Agh. Aaaaaaaagh!"
If you decide to sacrifice Lesuin instead, she will be shaken by the sight of the event. Speaking to her just as Lesuin is about to touch the crystal:
- "I can't watch."
Speaking to her after Lesuin is sacrificed:
- "I … don't think I'll ever forget those screams. I hope he gets back to his family, some day.
Go on. Go get that bastard Wormfather. I can get back to the portal on my own."
