Ardanir will send you down into Arkthzand Cavern to rescue people from the Falmer at Ghostlight Grotto. Callan can be found cowering in their camp.
- "It cannot be! I prayed for salvation from this place, but I never expected it to happen."
- Run. Get out of here while you can. Head for the Great Lift.
- "Thank you, stranger. I long to see the sky again."
Once you return to Markarth, Callan can be found near Ardanir.
Before you turn in the quest, he will say:
- "I though the gods had cursed me to that fate. As if exile from my clan was not enough.
But then you came. I see it now. I have been given a second chance."
After turning in the quest:
- "Ardanir has offered us a place among … what did he call them? The Wayward Guardians.
Defenders of the Reach, he said. Yes. Perhaps in this way I can atone."
