The Awakening DarknessEdit
As you head towards Bradan in the Hroldan Ring with Arana she will start talking with him:
- Arana: "Bradan! What news of the Ghostsong clan?"
- Bradan: "Your sister led the clan to Lost Valley. I was about to join them. Who's the outsider?"
- Arana: "An ally against the Gray Host. I'll let them tell you themself."
He can be interacted with:
- "An outsider walking alongside the great and powerful Arana? That's not a sight I thought I'd see today. And she says you're an ally?
Tell me, outsider, why do you care what happens to the Reach?" - I'm trying to stop the Gray Host. We need to talk to Arana's sister.
- "An outsider come to fight outsiders? I wish you hadn't brought your war here in the first place!
Speaking with Nathari is going to be difficult, even if she would agree to such a meeting. She's taken the clan to Lost Valley Redoubt." - The Lost Valley?
- "That's just what the Reachfolk call it. It isn't actually lost. We know exactly where it is. It's a sacred place, from a darker time.
Nathari said the time had come to return to Lost Valley. Promised the clan a great revelation." - What kind of revelation?
- "I'm not sure, but I'm no witch. Some of our rituals aren't meant to be shared with outsiders. I'll tell you that much.
Still … if Arana says it's important for you to speak to her sister, I believe her. I'll vouch for you, outsider." - Tell me more about Lost Valley.
- "As I said, the place is sacred to us. The Nords built a great barrow there, but long before that, Lost Valley was a place dedicated to dark worship."
- Dark worship?
- "Not all Reachfolk practices involve blood and sacrifice, but many of our oldest traditions do. Lost Valley was a center for such activity, once upon a time.
Oh, don't worry. You're helping Arana. I won't offer your heart to Namira. Not today."
- Arana says you two used to be good friends.
- "Yes, we grew up together in the Ghostsong clan. I was furious when the clan banished her. I almost followed, but I couldn't. The clan needs my protection, especially now against the Gray Host."
He can be interacted again afterwards:
- "I had business here in Hroldan Ring, but now I need to get to Lost Valley. The rest of the Ghostsong clan will be waiting for me."
Once you venture towards the Lost Valley Redoubt and leave Arana and Bradan behind they will start talking with each other:
- Bradan: "I'm off to Lost Valley. If you want to find your sister, that's where she'll be."
- Arana: "Why Lost Valley, Nathari? What are you planning, my sister?"
- Arana: "Lost Valley Redoubt? A revelation? I don't know what Nathari is planning, but I don't like the sound of it.
We need to see what's going on in Lost Valley. I'll meet you there."
You can later find him captured in the Dark Descent, under Lost Valley Redoubt together with Largruff, Jolnengar, Ferratha and Mavlyn. After defeating Nathari you must speak with him:
- "I knew Nathari's ideas were folly, but this? With her own hand, she gave her kin to the darkness.
She would have killed us all if you and Arana hadn't arrived." - The real enemy is Lady Belain. She convinced Nathari to sacrifice your clan.
- "Nathari was a friend once, before she became obsessed with the old ways. If Lady Belain put her on that path, then I've got a score to settle with her.
And I'll fight to protect what's left of us, few though we may be." - Will you join Arana and help us defeat Lady Belain and the Gray Host?
- "Aye, we'll fight. There aren't many of us left, but most of us are werewolves. Lady Belain will regret the day she turned our own witches against the clan. That, I promise you. We'll make our way to Rebel's Retreat. I'll look for you and Arana there."
If you leave Arana and Bradan behind he will start to comfort her:
- Bradan: "This isn't your fault, Arana. Nathari could only see her own visions. Hear her own spirits."
- Bradan: "Nathari's madness was her own, Arana. We'll follow you."
If you talk to Bradan once more before leaving The Dark Descent:
- "We'll fight beside you. I'll gather the others and bring them to Rebel's Retreat."
Once you return to Rebel's Retreat you can find him beside Arana and his hunters. He is arguing with Hila.
- Hila: "This is what you bring us, Arana? Frightened pups?"
- Bradan: "Frightened pups? My hunters are the equal of then of yours! Care to see our claws and fangs?"
- Hila: "Save it for the Gray Host, skin-changer. Let's see what they can do on the training field."
He can be spoken with afterwards:
- "We'll show the Gray Host. We'll show everyone. The Ghostsong clan still has some fight left in it. Just point us at the prey and let us loose!"
After conversation with Arana he can be spoken with again:
- "The Gray Host won't stop until they drown the Reach in blood.
It's like the old Ghostsong prophecies. The end is coming soon."
A Feast of SoulsEdit
After returning to Markarth he can be found next to The Hunter's Repose. He is now wearing new set of armor and is in company of Witch-Rebel Hunters. He will greet you:
- Bradan: "Harrier, over here! The Gray Host assault has begun!."
Talked to him and assess the situation:
- "The Gray Host came out of nowhere. Hit the city like a giant's hammer. Vampires and werewolves, rending and killing anyone they could catch.
The ard's folk thought they were safe in Markarth. Only fools put their trust in walls." - Bradan, you need to know. Every Reachfolk that dies today feeds the Dark Heart.
- "Just like what Nathari did to my clan? The bastards!
Arana brought us here to help, but it may be too late. They aren't only marching toward the gates—they're coming at us from beneath the city!" - What do you mean, beneath the city?
- "Lady Belain unsealed the doors to Nchuand-Zel and let the Gray Host into the city. We arrived just in time to fend off the first wave. Can't make any promises about the next.
Go to Understone Keep. Tell Ard Caddach and Arana what you told me." - I'll go to Understone Keep.
- "Stay sharp and keep alert on your way to Understone Keep. The Gray Host could attack again at any moment."
- So Ard Caddach and Arana are working together now?
- "The vampire noble, your friend Verandis, he convinced Arana that we had to help defend Markarth. We marched when Gwendis gave us the word.
Besides, Arana and Caddach are both of the Reach. Reachfolk stick together against outsiders. We always have."
He can be found in the Understone Keep after returning from Blackreach:
- "The Gray Host broke and scattered to the four winds, harrier. You and Arana's doing, I suppose?
You can tell me all about it later. Caddach wants to hear your tale. He does seem to think he's in charge around here, after all."
After reporting to Ard Caddach but before talking with Count Verandis he can be talked to again:
- "And now Count Verandis has returned and wants to speak to you. I suppose I'll have to wait a little longer to find out what happened down there."
After talking to Count Verandis Ravenwatch he can be talked to again:
- "Talk to me, harrier. I want to know what happened to Arana and I want to know now."
- Arana died helping me defeat Lady Belain.
- "I knew it! When you came back alone, I felt that something terrible must have happened.
I never knew a witch so strong or so stubborn. I thought nothing could stand against Arana. And she was my friend. I should have been there for that fight." - What happens to the witch-rebels now?
- "Arana made peace with Caddach. In her honor, we'll hold to that agreement It's clear that Lady Belain was always our true enemy.
New clans will form, now that our quarrel with the ard is over. There's plenty of land nearby." - So Ard Caddach will be the king of the Reach?
- "Now don't get carried away. In case you haven't noticed, Reachfolk don't bend their knees lightly. We'll give our loyalty to the ard because we choose to, not because he demands it from us.
And we'll be watching him."
Second ChancesEdit
Inside Understone Keep, a very jovial Bradan will greet you:
- Bradan: "Look! Look! Can you believe it? The keep is alive again!"
- Bradan: "That's your doing, isn't it? The ard seems to think so. He'll want to see you. He's in his war room right now."
Just then, Lyris comes up behind you:
- Lyris Titanborn: "What's this about a war room?"
- Bradan: "Oh, you're here, too she-wo—ah, Titanborn. You come with me. I have a message for your ears alone."
- Lyris Titanborn: "Fine, but if this is Caddach's idea of a joke, you won't find it funny."
Speak to him:
- "Good to see you alive and well. It's good to see everyone alive and well! I don't know to what gods we should be giving our thanks, but I wager we all owe you a good portion."
- You can thank Verandis. He was able to restore their lives after we defeated Rada al-Saran.
- "We owe you for delivering Malacath's vengeance to that toothy bastard. Where is Count Verandis? I'd like to give him my proper thanks."
- Verandis stayed behind to save your people.
- "He what? I—I can't find my words. I don't know whether to mourn his loss or celebrate what he gave us.
You should tell the ard. He'll want to pay his own respects, I'm sure."
He can be found in the Announcement Hall afterwards alongside Jolnengar and Largruff. You can talk to him:
- "Well met, harrier. Too many people here for my liking, but I guess it's understandable We've seen some dark days of late. Good to see the sun come out again."
After the speeches you can speak to him again:
- "If you told me a season ago that the leader of Western Skyrim would share a dais with the Reach-King, I would've laughed in your face. But, here we are."
- What will you and the rebels do now?
- "Not much to rebel against now that Arana's made peace with the ard. We'll stay long enough to deal with any Gray Host lurking nearby, and then we'll be on our way.
Markarth's not the sort of place werewolves should linger in. Too many people." - And what of the Ghostsong clan? Will you return home?
- "The survivors asked me to be chieftain, but … it's time to let the Ghostsong clan go, and begin a new clan with a new name. Better to leave the dark old ways behind.
Thinking about the name Longfangs. Or Wolfrunners."
