"Search the crypt for Ulbazar's sepulcher and you will hopefully find the Memory Stone."
I found a Knight of St. Pelin in the Crypt of the Exiles who died while on an important quest. She sought to recover a sacred Redguard artifact, the Memory Stone of Makela Leki, and return it to a Redguard scholar.

Quick WalkthroughEdit

  1. Read the Orders from a Knightly Order.
  2. Recover the memory stone.
  3. Deliver the stone to Madaima at Martyr's Crossing.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Inside the Crypt of the Exiles, a scroll with the name Orders from Knight-Commander Varaine is found next to a dead Breton knight, and can be read to accept the quest:

"Dame Frederique,
"I am sending you on a mission of the utmost importance. High King Emeric has requested we undertake this effort as a favor to King Fahara'jad of Sentinel, and he requests that it be handled quickly."
<Keep reading.>
"It seems a Redguard warrior named Ulbazar is believed to have died within the Crypt of Exiles. Ulbazar committed a blasphemous crime before fleeing from the Alik'r desert―he stole a precious Redguard artifact, the Memory Stone of Makela Leki."
<Read the rest of the orders.>
"Search the crypt for Ulbazar's sepulcher and you will hopefully find the Memory Stone. Bring the stone to a Redguard scholar named Madaima who will be waiting for you at Martyr's Crossing.
"May Saint Pelin be with you,
"Knight-Commander Varaine"
I'll recover the Memory Stone and deliver it, completing Dame Frederique's mission.

Deeper into the delve, Ulbazar's sepulcher can be found; as you go further, some notes may offer further insight to you on this manner, and how the crypt came to be in its current state. A note in the first hall sheds light on the who roams these halls in undeath and why. Another note sits outside a cell that houses an angry skeleton. This one hints at Ulbazar's cruelty. Closest to the sepulchur is a poem written by a dying Exile to detail the crypt's curse.

Ulbazar's sepulcher may be guarded by two generic exiled warriors; upon searching it you can obtain Makela Leki's Memory Stone. Once you have it, you can leave the Crypt of the Exiles and go to Madaima, who is at Martyr's Crossing, east of the delve.

When you get there, speak to her:

"Do not concern yourself with me. My wounds are only superficial.
There are many here in greater need of assistance than myself."
I have Makela Leki's Memory Stone.
"You do? I was told the Knights of St. Pelin might return it, but with the attack on the garrison, I had given up.
This is … beyond amazing. I know King Fahara'jad will be grateful. And you have my personal thanks, as well."

She will then reward you with the Exiles' Legacy and some gold.

NotesEdit

  • The text from the dialogue boxes that give the quest do not entirely match the book that is added to your library after reading it from your quest inventory.
    • You can find the original note on the road, next to a broad tree that is near Madaima, in Martyr's Crossing.

* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
