The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is a remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion that features the base game plus all ten of its original downloads. It was announced and released on April 22, 2025.
BackgroundEdit
Production first began in 2021.[2] As part of FTC v. Microsoft, internal Bethesda documents were inadvertently made public which confirmed that an Oblivion remaster was planned for release in 2022 prior to the acquisition of ZeniMax by Microsoft.[3] Rumors of a potential remaster or remake being worked on by Virtuos Games first appeared online in July 2023.[4]
On April 15, 2025, several in-game images, promotional art, and other materials were leaked from the Virtuos website, accessed through a WordPress upload repository.[1] These images display several recognizable locations such as the view of Vilverin from the Imperial City Prison Sewer, the bridge leading to Castle Skingrad, and the Imperial City seen from afar.[5] References to an Oblivion remaster were also found in the source code of the Bethesda.net homepage, which pointed to a then-unused URL for the game,[6] and several listings in various languages for the remaster were found online, hosted on Virtuos' website.[7]
ReleaseEdit
On April 21, the Bethesda accounts announced a live event for the remaster titled All will be revealed.... set to be held on April 22, 2025 at 11am EST. This stream officially revealed the remaster, which launched on the same day on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.[8][9]
