Morrowind talk:Ald Sotha

"It is ironic that Ald Sotha is named so, considering it is the name of an ancient city, which was destroyed by Mehrunes Dagon, and was once the capital city of House Sotha." What exactly is ironic about this? It certainly seems fitting that the old capital of House Sotha should be named Ald Sotha, but ironic? I am also rather curious as to how we know this really was the old capital of House Sotha -- it certainly seems reasonable, and I'm no loremaster, but if there is a reference it would be nice to have it. Yes, like you said it is a in-game dialogue. When you ask the Archcanon Tholer Saryoni about the topic Four Corners one of his responses is the following:

The Second Corner of the House of Troubles is Mehrunes Dagon, the Daedra of Destruction who represents the trials the Dunmer face in the lands of Morrowind. At Ald Sotha, the daedric ruins northeast of Vivec City, Vivec rescued Sotha Sil, the only survivor of the minor House Sotha, from the armies of Mehrunes Dagon. Fight your way to the statue of Mehrunes Dagon and recite Vivec's "Four Corners of the House of Troubles."

I think the question is whether this ruin is actually from that capital city, or whether this shrine is only named after the city. If it is only named after the city, then it might be considered ironic. --Brf 18:34, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Ok, let's state some facts:

• This is certainly no coincidence. There is nothing coincidental about the fact that Sotha Sil was rescued here long ago and that it is now being named Ald Sotha.
• I may not be completely versed in the meaning of irony, but I don't see it here.
• There is no mention whatsoever that Ald Sotha was ever the capital of House Sotha. While it may have been Sotha Sil's place of residence, an estate in possession of the House Sotha or simply the place where he was rescued, it is never mentioned as the capital of House Sotha (please do correct me if I am wrong).

I suggest we drop all the speculation and only put in the article the information we know for sure are true. -- Kertaw48 19:43, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

The lore entry on House Sotha says it was Sotha Sil's birthplace, and the House's base. Looking in the CS however, I can't find where that info is taken from. Legoless 19:49, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
