Detailed WalkthroughEdit

DutiesEdit

This is the first quest offered by Ajira at the Guild of Mages in Balmora when you join the Mages Guild. Chat with Ajira about duties, and she'll request that you help her. In order for Ajira to become a Journeyman in the Guild, she must study some local mushrooms. In particular, she needs four different samples -- one each of Luminous Russula, Violet Coprinus, Bungler's Bane, and Hypha Facia, all commonly available on the Bitter Coast. The best place, she says, is southwest of Balmora. You can further ask her about each type of mushroom and she will happily describe what they look like.

Name Image Description Item ID
Luminous Russula   A short, smelly, toadstool which is brown on top. ingred_russula_01
Violet Coprinus   Long stem toadstools that glow blue at night. ingred_coprinus_01
Bungler's Bane   Grows on trees and looks like brown shelves. ingred_bc_bungler's_bane
Hypha Facia   Looks like Bungler's Bane and grows on trees. ingred_bc_hypha_facia

Gathering the Tasty "Truffles"Edit

Indeed, just wander around the swamps across the hills southwest of Balmora and you can collect samples of the four mushrooms very quickly. Once you collect all four samples, return to Ajira.

Another alternative is to take the Silt Strider to Seyda Neen and collect the mushrooms in that area: two of them, Bungler's Bane and Hypha Facia can be found on the tree outside of the Census and Excise office. The other two seem to only be a stone's throw away from the town. If you've completed the quest Death of a Taxman, you'll find the remaining two mushrooms in the vicinity of the corpse of Processus Vitellius. If you like to be prepared, you could also collect these mushrooms from Seyda Neen before you head to Balmora.

If you don't feel like traveling around the countryside in search of mushrooms, you can stop by the Temple in Balmora to buy Bungler's Bane and Hypha Facia from Dralval Andrano, and you can travel to Caldera Guild of Mages using the guild guide to buy Luminous Russula and Violet Coprinus from Ernand Thierry.

Pleasing the KhajiitEdit

Return to Ajira after your hunting-and-gathering trip, and she'll reward you with four Cheap Restore Health Potions, a 10 point increase in disposition toward you, and a potential increase in ranking in the Mages Guild.

10 Ajira asked me to bring her samples of four types of Mushrooms: Luminous Russula, Violet Coprinus, Bungler's Bane, and Hypha Facia. They may be found in the swamps of the Bitter Coast. I can get there by following the river Odai south of Balmora until I see a wooden bridge. After I pass the bridge I should look for a way over the hills to the west.
100 Finishes quest  Ajira thanked me for bringing her the mushroom samples.
