This cuirass is one of the greatest artifacts any collector or hero could own. It is constructed of real dragon bone and was enchanted by the first Imperial Battlemage, Zurin Arctus, in the early years of the Third Era. It is a truly exquisite piece of work and many have sought to possess it. The properties of the Cuirass allow the wearer to completely resist fire, and to damage an enemy with a blast of fire. Little is known about the involvement of Zurin Arctus with the enchantment of the Cuirass, but an old tale speaks of a debt that he owed to a traveling warrior. Like the warrior, the Dragonbone Mail never stays put for long. —Yagrum Bagarn, Tamrielic Lore
The Dragonbone Cuirass is a Legendary Cuirass created by Imperial Battlemage Zurin Arctus, fashioned entirely from dragonbone. The cuirass grants immunity to fire, and is tied with the Lord's Mail for the highest armor rating in the game. It is found within the Mudan Grotto (southwest of Ebonheart), in the Central Vault, in a locked Dwemer closet.
NotesEdit
- With the Tribunal expansion, this artifact can be sold to Torasa Aram in the Museum of Artifacts for 30,000 gold.
- The artifact is also known as the Dragonbone Mail, and appears as such in the Alternative Armors - Dragon Plate Creation for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
- The creator of the artifact, Zurin Arctus, is actually not the first Imperial Battlemage. He is better described as the first Imperial Battlemage under Tiber Septim.
- Contrary to the in-game description, the armor does not grant the wearer any Fire Damage abilities.
