Yasammidan (or Yasammidin) is a Daedric ruin located on an island at the far northeastern tip of Vvardenfell, east of Ald Velothi.

The ruins were once an ancient site of Daedric worship dedicated to the Prince of Destruction, Mehrunes Dagon. Like many of the Daedric ruins of Vvardenfell, they were sealed off by the Ordinators of the Tribunal Temple to prevent worship of the Daedra Lords.[1]

HistoryEdit

Second EraEdit

The Reformer's laboratory

During the Interregnum of the Second Era, the abandoned ruins were crawling with Air Atronachs and Clannfear who would attack all interlopers.[2] Nevertheless, the Urshilaku Tribe made efforts to recover relics of historical importance from the rubble at Yasammidan circa 2E 582, passing them into the care of their Wise Woman at the tribe's camp in Ald'ruhn.[3]

Around this time, a Telvanni mage named Sondivel Ulres set up a secret laboratory within the ruin's interior. Better known as "the Reformer", Sondivel's experimentation focused on the use of soul magic to manipulate a subject's memories and will, allowing him to bend a slave's will to his control without breaking their individuality. He achieved this through the use of a metal alloy called tyranite calx, and conducted experiments here on unwilling victims.[4][5] However, the laboratory was ransacked circa 2E 582 when one of his former slaves, Sharp-as-Night, uncovered its location through the use of Warden magic.[6] Sharp subsequently tracked Sondivel to Deshaan and killed him.[7]

Third EraEdit

As the threat from Dagoth Ur began to grow in the late Third Era, the Ordinators were no longer able to guard isolated Daedric ruins.[1] As a result, Yasammidan began to be occupied by hostile Daedric cultists.[8]

Circa 3E 427, the Nerevarine received a vision from Mehrunes Dagon at his shrine within Yasammidan. Dagon tasked the Nerevarine with recovering Mehrunes' Razor from Alas Ancestral Tomb, where it lay disused and rusted by the corpse of Varner Hleras. When the Razor was returned to the shrine, Dagon imbued it with his power and returned it to its former glory.[9]

Several artifacts of Sanguine were also liberated from the ruins by the Morag Tong around this time.[10]
