The Tundra Plain or Tundra Plains, also known as the Whiterun Tundra,[1] is an ecological region that takes up a majority of Whiterun Hold along with small parts of Falkreath Hold, Hjaalmarch, the Reach, and the Pale, in the province of Skyrim. It is a vast plain with few trees, mostly flat but occasionally broken up by hills and outcrops. The Plain is dotted with a number of odd barrows and Giant camps, while the center is dominated by Fort Greymoor.[2]

GeographyEdit

The western section is the Tundra Plateau, a rocky area nearing the Reach, where Fort Sungard is situated. The central and largest section is the Western Plains, which include Rorikstead and the foothills around Fort Greymoor.[3] The eastern section is the White River Valley, and the northwest section bounded by the Karth and Hjaal rivers is the Hjaalmarch Hills.[2] A lone mountain is found in the center of the otherwise empty terrain, and stands as the only mountain in the region.[2]

It encompasses much of west-central Whiterun, bordered by the Brittleshin Hills and Pine Forest to the south,[2] the Karth River Forest and Sundered Hills across the west, the Drajkmyr Marsh, Skyborn Range, and Giants' Gap in the north, and finally, the White River running through the mountains of Throat of the World and Shearpoint that lead towards Frostwater Tundra to the east.
