The Anuad is a popular elven religious text detailing the creation of the Aurbis according to Ayleid faith.[1][2][3] While many other early elven writings didn't survive the purges of the Alessian Order, the Anuad was able to survive into modern times by virtue of its popularity and proliferation.[3] A guide published by the Third Empire during the reign Tiber Septim described the content of the Anuad as "beautiful heresies".[3]
There exists a widely published simplified version of the Anuad, interchangeably known as "The Annotated Anuad", "The Anuad Paraphrased", or "A Children's Anuad".[1] Due to how easy the text is to understand, it was one of the books used in an Imperial literacy campaign on Vvardenfell, distributed with the aid of House Hlaalu and the Mages Guild in 3E 427.[4]
The concept of Nir, the feminine source of creation who the goddess Mara is sometimes associated with, is said to originate from the Anuad.[5][1] The full version of the Anuad makes reference to "brilliant students" of the titanic Ehlnofey, who some have speculated are the Dwemer.[6]
