Fleet Queen Taleria (also known as the Dreadsail Queen and Pirate Queen) was a Maormer leader of the Dreadsail pirates. She was a Sea Mage, known for her powerful magical abilities, particularly her control over the sea and her ability to conjure storms capable of sinking of numerous ships. She was believed to be the lynchpin holding the Dreadsail pirates together and one of the most powerful conjurers among her people. Taleria's fleet was known for its perfect coordination, and some suspected that Taleria was behind this, using her powerful magic to guide their ships over great distances.[1][2]
HistoryEdit
Little is known of Taleria's past. She was known for her pirate activities around the Systres archipelago, Summerset Isles, and the mainland Tamriel.[3] She was known for her fondness for the reef vipers. She had all the fleet's maces styled after her own scepter. She was known to require all her mages, especially Sea Mages to master a stave.[4]
At some point she dispatched her subordinates to obtain the lodestones from the Shipwright's Regret, an abandoned shipyard once used by the All Flags Navy. Although they suffered losses they were successful.[5][6][7]
She claimed Dreadsail Reef, a small islet on the far fringes of the Systres Archipelago as her own, turning it into her base of operation, despite its challenging environment of jagged, shallow reefs and fierce predators. Prior to her arrival, the islet was uninhabited.[1][8]
She had ambitions to take over the Systres, and utilized lodestones, Dwemer devices, and magical runes to further her goals. According to some those tools could aid her in the quest to become the uncontested ruler of the Systres.[9][10][11] She has split her fleet into small attack groups to hit as many shipping lanes as possible, ordering her subordinates to strike waterways all over the Systres in small, well-coordinated groups, commanded by her trusted allies wielding the lodestones.[1][10]
Her heinous actions drew the attention of the local nobility. At some point, in 2E 582 the navy of the House Dufort planned to engage the Dreadsail fleet with their flotilla and then take a vessel to Taleria's island base to find and subdue her before she could use her magic to destroy the navy's ships. With the aid of the Undaunted, the navy managed to reach her base in Dreadsail Reef and confront her and her fleet. During the confrontation, Taleria transformed into a coral monstrosity resembling an Air Atronach, but the navy managed to defeat her.[1][12][13] Upon her death she claimed that she would be reborn like a wave, though the validity of her statement is dubious.[14]
The Dreadsails continued their activities in Galen under command of Sealord Nalos, though the exact relation between her and him, and how he became the new leader is unknown.[15]
