Riglametha (in the Banthan dialect of Yoku for "grateful-offering")[1] is a holiday held on the 12th of Hearthfire[1][2] and observed across the province of Hammerfell,[3] but has much more significance in the Barony of Lainlyn. It is generally a festival of the graces, which the gods have bestowed upon Lainlyn for centuries. As is tradition, performances are held to depict great moments in Lainlyn's history.[1]
One of the most popular stories is Ghraewaj, which translates into Yoku as either "The Crows Who Were Punished" or "The Crows Who Punish". It is about a coven of daedric worshippers led by the temptress, Noctyr-a, who wreaked havoc in Lainlyn by seducing the Baron of Lainlyn. The baroness tricked Noctyr-a into wearing a white robe that transformed her into a giant black bird. No longer under her spell, the Baron had the bird cooked into an enormous roast. When the coven ate the bird, they also transformed, but into half-bird creatures called harpies. This is the purported origin of the harpy, who are common across the Iliac Bay, but especially in Lainlyn. The story has changed over the years, but its prevalence in Lainlyn has remained all the same.[1]
