Myrkwasa is a region in northwestern Hammerfell, in the greater Iliac Bay region of northwest Tamriel. It is divided by the arid, desert region further into the mainland and the tropical wet-dry climate of the coast,[1] where a sparse grassland laden most of the province's shore.[2]
HistoryEdit
When the Fiefdom of Myrkwasa was founded is unknown, but the region's name is associated with the coastal desert region in Sentinel's vicinity.[3] The polity is mainly populated by the Redguards of Hammerfell but hosts other races and subcultures, such as the barbarians and giants who live in sizeable strongholds. Harpy nests can also be found in Myrkwasa.[4] The region is also the home of the Selenu clan of vampires, the major bloodline in the region and the Tide Witches, a witches coven based in central Myrkwasa, near Rhanotejur.[5]
By 3E 405, the Fiefdom of Myrkwasa was ruled by an unnamed Lord and its patron deity was Kynareth, who is represented through the Temple of Kynareth. The region had only two cities, the capital of the same name and Zagiladax; much closer to the coast. Myrkwasa was neighbored by several regions, namely the unconquered Alik'r Desert to the south, Kairou to the west, Pothago to the northwest, and Sentinel to the northeast.[1]
In 3E 417, Myrkwasa was conquered by the Kingdom of Sentinel after the Warp in the West changed the Iliac Bay region over a couple of days. At the time, it was ruled by the Regent Queen, Akorithi. Since then, all of northern Hammerfell had fallen into the kingdom's control.[6]
Known RulersEdit
City of MyrkwasaEdit
Myrkwasa is the walled, capital city of the eponymous fiefdom. It is located inland, in the center of the region.[5]
