Dragonhome is an ancient Nordic ruin located in the northwestern corner of the Karthald Hold that served as a base of the Dragon Cult in ancient times,[1] and in Second Era.[2] It was inhabited by the Draugr and well guarded by various traps.[3]
HistoryEdit
Ancient PastEdit
In the ancient times, the barrow known as Dragonhome was inhabited by the Dragon Cult.[1]
Second EraEdit
During the Second Era, it was rumored that a new group of cultists had taken over the area, although it was dismissed by some.[1][3] In 2E 582, a vigilante mage Heiruna came into contact with Dragon Cult revivalists, who believed that they can summon a Dragon and return the Dragon Cult to prominence.[4][5][6] She tracked them and found them in their hideout in Dragonhome.[7] She infiltrated the ancient ruin with intention to massacre the cultists,[7] but was defeated and turned into a doll.[4][8] She was eventually found by an adventurer who agreed to help her reclaim her human form and defeat the resurgent cult.[4] They performed a ritual that let her reclaim her original human form and fought the cultists.[2][4][9]
In the same year Coterie of Organized Scholars sought a research assistant. One of its scholars, Nezashul was doing research for a treatise on ancient Nord embalming practices, specifically how they might help to improve modern healing techniques. The scholarly organization requested the help of the contract worker to acquire samples of organs and tissues such as eyes,[10] brains,[11] and hearts[12] of the ancient Nord entombed in the Dragonhome barrow. The scholars believed that the ruin would be unspoiled due to the presence of Draugr who guard it against the intruders, but they were unaware of the resurfacing Dragon Cult who inhabited Dragonhome. Despite the presence of the cultists their contractor managed to retrieve the requested organs for the coterie.[13][14][15]
Shadow of Rahjin,[16] a lyre associated with the trickster god, Rajhin was once hidden in Dragonohme.[17] It was described as "Great creature's home, Westest of Western."[18] An adventurer found the lute and delivered it to the Bards College.[19]
