The Battle of Dragontooth[1]:8 was a major battle during the Camoran Usurper's Invasion in 3E 253. It was one of the first battles the Camoran Usurper started in Hammerfell, after invading western Colovia in Cyrodiil. The Redguard cities, Rihad and Taneth combined to defend their land,[2] but their defeat led to the Usurper conquering southern Hammerfell.[1]:8
After sacking Kvatch in Cyrodiil, the Camoran Usurper moved north across the border to invade Hammerfell. Rumors of the Usurper's arrival reached the province and nearby villagers believed that Rihad and Taneth would easily defeat him. Ultimately, both cities were destroyed.[2] Their armies were absorbed into the Usurper's greater forces, as they continued their march north into the Iliac Bay. At that time, his Nightmare Host took over Dwynnen ahead of his invasion. Only for them to be defeated by Othrok in the Battle of Wightmoor.[3][4]
Historically, the Forebears and Crowns of Hammerfell had always been at odds with each other. Because of this, the Crowns of Elinhir did not help the Forebears in the Battle of Dragontooth, nor stop the Usurper's northward march. Vice versa, Rihad and Taneth did not assist the eastern Crown cities during the War of the Bend'r-mahk, preferring to watch from afar as the Nords took over.[5]
NotesEdit
- What Dragontooth could refer to is unknown, however, unused resource data from Daggerfall includes the Dragontooth Mountains, which is similarly named to Dragon's Teeth Mountains of eastern Hammerfell.
