The Kingdom of Sentinel

Arthago was a Redguard noble from the late Third Era. As the first child of King Camaron and Queen Akorithi, he was the Prince of Sentinel but ever since his birth, he was afflicted with a myriad of illnesses and bad health, and received little affection from his parents. Early in 3E 400, he disappeared from the public eye and faded away in obscurity. The citizens of the kingdom would refer to him as the "Scholar Prince".

HistoryEdit

Arthago was born sometime between 3E 382 and 3E 385 but had been dealing with poor health all his life, much to the dismay of his parents. Apothecaries and healers from all over western Tamriel came to Sentinel to help Arthago but could do nothing to cure him. Even though he could not become a strong warrior like his father hoped he could be, he found his calling in books, historical literature, and science. Doctors, herbalists, and priests would give Arthago constant attention. One of his closest friends, a Stendarran priest believed he could have been Sentinel's first scholar king.

Arthago was present when his sister, Aubk-i was born and for six years, they were the monarchy's only children until Greklith's birth in 3E 392. A year later, his youngest brother was ominously named Lhotun, which translates to "Second Son" in Yoku. Upon reflecting on his life years later, Arthago believed these were signs of his disinheritance at an unofficial capacity. Over the course of three years, he suffered from a serious fever but over time, he gradually recovered. On the 20th of Morning Star, 3E 400, Arthago was abducted by three men during his walk and taken far away to a dungeon, where they left him to die. Despite his attempts to wander the halls, he could not escape and three days later, wrote his last words on parchment. He hoped it would serve as a historical document rather as a means of vengeance.

With the Prince out of the public eye, many rumors were spread about his disappearance. Some would say he got sick and died while others would suggest that he was kidnapped by the Underking. In any case, Arthago at that time was the only prince that never received a public funeral.

In 3E 405, Prince Lhotun sends out a letter to an Agent of the Blades to inquire about their services. The Prince tasked them with tracking down Arthago and finding rumors regarding him. A few days later, they rendezvoused with an agent of the Underking, who pointed Arthago's whereabouts to a Sentilian prison within the kingdom's borders. Deep inside the dungeon, the adventurer found Arthago's death certificate and returned to Sentinel Palace with it, but it is unknown if they gave it to Lhotun or anyone else.

When Lhotun inherited the throne following the Warp in the West in 3E 417, he spent years tracking down the conspirators that took Arthago away. And although one died at the hands of the Selenu and another from the same plague that took Akorithi and Greklith, they managed to at least find Jomic in a nameless tavern somewhere in Sentinel city.

NotesEdit

• ^	In Daggerfall, the prince is given a random name but both the Daggerfall Chronicles and later the book, Night Falls on Sentinel give him a canonical name in the form of Arthago.

• ^	Arthago's death certificate claims he was fifteen years old when it was written in 3E 400 but Lhotun at the start of "the Missing Prince" quest will say he was ten or eleven years older than him, which would place his birthdate at most 3E 382.
