Alavelis is a village on the southernmost end of the Padomaic Crest and is located in the province of Morrowind, in the jurisdiction of the Great House Dres.[2][UOL 1] Alavelis is a sleepy town known mainly for its glass mine to the east of it,[2] though it eventually ran dry.[3] The settlement is overseen by a group of village elders.[4] When the Third Empire took over and constructed maps of the province, they gave the village an Imperalized name: Amber Forest.[5][6]
HistoryEdit
In 2E 582, the glass mine was purchased by the Telvanni master, Shelreni Baro[7] and news spread across the region for a new job opportunity.[8] Everyone in the village was put to work but when the Hidden Kindred, a daedric cult led by Kindred Rector Nyleth arrived into town under the guise of masons and laborers, people in Alavelis began to experience nightmares of building an arch, and then a statue. While the cultists of Vaermina commandeered the Green Glass Inn,[4][7] the Dreamcarver Clan of Dremora led by Kynreeve Ryl came to secure the town. The plan was to construct an inconspicuous portal to Apocrypha, the plane of Hermaeus Mora and infiltrate it.[7]
An inconsistency in the threads of fate was found in Alavelis and an agent of Hermaeus Mora, a watchling known as Scruut was sent to town. With the help of a warrior chosen by Hermaeus Mora themself, the two delved into the ruined town to uncover the conspiracy. Their search brought them to the portal deep in the Alavelis Mine and into Apocrypha, where they found Alavelisians dead and turned into Hushed. They eventually tracked the cultists and Dreamcarvers to the Tranquil Catalog, a stronghold that houses an index for everything in the realm. The warrior, Fate's Chosen was able to defeat the Kynreeve.[9]
During the Imperial Simulacrum in the late Third Era, the village of Amber Forest was an active settlement. It was ruled by Lord Casien and had a rivalry with Corkarth Run.[5] Amber Forest was neighbored by several settlements, including Mournhold to the west, Old Keep to the far west-southwest, Sailen Vulgate to the north-northeast, and Silnim Dale to the far southwest.[10]

NotesEdit
- In an early concept map of Morrowind, Amber Forest's name was changed to Alavelis. It was located in the central plain region and occupied by House Dres.[UOL 1]
