the best they can do, and should doEdit

how about all of cyrodiil?!? with multiple disks possible on the ps3 and pc, almost impossible on the xbox360 though.... think of it, thousands of things to do Mikeyboy52 14:08, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

That would probably suck because a large randomized land would not be good. They should rather keep it the same size and have it more thorough Makrell

Who said it be randomized :P having larger land means more stories, more people. I see a lot of people complain about how all the dungeons are simallar. having a larger land means more diverse land means more ideas for diverse dungeons. having story lines for a good portion of the dungeons would be awesome to, like that first dungeon you see in oblivion, as soon as you finish the tutorial, its right in front of you. :D Mikeyboy52 13:55, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
The dev tim required for that is insane. They could do it with older games where not every single patch of grass was accessible and everything didnt need that amount of visual tweaks they do now. Take oblivion, where there are soo many cave you cant do something with all of them and the large portion end up being caves built from the same pieces that are used soley for random loot. --J.J.-Lopez 09:38, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

The BarrierEdit

Did anyone else notice that the barrier between Tamriel and Oblivion is still gone? The only reason Dagon's gates close is because he has been banished. Other princes could still invade. Whose to say Malacath or Molag Bal could invade. Hey, maybe that's how Sheogorath opened his portal to the isles. Thoughts? Weebum-Na 06:12, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Todd Howard addresses that question in this fan interview (question 13). --Timenn-<talk> 12:53, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

AkavirEdit

What about Akavir ? I mean the Nerevar is supposed to have gone on an expedition to there so...--TheAlbinoOrc 00:16, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

That was probably just a strategy to ensure that Morrowind players weren't wondering why the Nerevarine didn't just go to fix the problems in Cyrodiil. Besides, Akavir is supposed to be a secretive and mysterious place, and it's on a different continent than Tamriel, so there really wouldn't be much of anything related to the other Elder Scrolls games. Still, anything is possible. --Mptrj - - 01:33, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
That's possible but they do seem to have been piling up a lot of lore on Akavir for at least two games, and this could give them a chance to play around with the game mechanics especially magic (for more details on this see Report: Disaster at Ionith) so if there are any problems with them that have been complained about consistently by the majority of fans (for example being limited to the spell effects that come with the game) they could fix it and still keep their internal lore consistent. Then in the next game the PC from the previous one could return and teach what they learned in Akavir to the Empire.--TheAlbinoOrc 19:38, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
They sent the Nereverine to a far off distant land. It is a common story device to shift the focus to a new hero. Look at Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, the same thing happened, Reven (the first hero) was sent off to the far reachs of the galaxy never to be heard from again. It has no great significance on any of the plot.

Infernal CityEdit

In a recent search for any Elder Scrolls V news, I came across a site that claimed a release date for the Elder Scrolls V was contained in Infernal City. I can't confirm this myself, as I haven't got a copy of the book, so my question is: Is there any truth in this? --Kvaener 18:08, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

There's no release date in my copy. --GKtalk2me 22:16, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
There was talk about the book is a bridge to the next game. i cant remember if it was offical talk or just fan rumors. But the book is good, you should pick up a copy 14.00 at Barnes & Noble.--Toungennose 00:23, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
Theres an official statment somewhere or another that says its a "bridge book" Mikeyboy52 22:16, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Akavir has potention for new and exciting adventures. There is little lore on Akavir and would leave potential for tons of new lore!

A Direct SequelEdit

i know it was some time ago but Square broke tradition and produced a "sequel" in X-2 (all-be-it IMO a awful sequel to a poor game) Bethesda could make a sequel, not an ad on or a spin of a full fledged sequel. After all Cyrodil is in need of a new emperor, and large swaths of the country is in ruin could have a civil war, or invasion based story. feel free to quote and edit for grammar. JamesDC99 18:06, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

While this is possible I don't think it's very likely. If it's going to be a direct sequel then they need all the PCs to be the same and the same NPCs to be alive at the end of Oblivion (and it's quite obvious that pretty much every PC is different and you'll rarely find 2 games with the exactly same NPCs alive)

The only other way to make a direct sequel would be one where you have to have completed the Main Quest of Oblivion, and can only access the "sequel" once it's finished, but then it would just be another expansion. Nacht 09:31, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

an MMOEdit

just speculating that there is ZeniMax Online studios, an elder scrolls online.com domain name, could lead one to believe that there will be a online game. but at the moment Bethesda and by extension ZeniMax are in a legal battle with interplay about the Fallout MMO so we may not see anything until that's sorted. again feel free to discuss and edit for grammar. JamesDC99 18:27, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Info From BethesdaEdit

I found this article on Planet Elder Scrolls [1] Interesting that Bethesda isn't directly working on TES V. Armor Games is pretty good though, and I think they could/will do a good job. And yes, I saw that this was posted on April 1st, but I don't think they would joke about somthing like this. Also, shouldn't this be front-page worthy news? I was sort of suprised to see that there was no mention of this yet.

Most likely a prank, Amour Games is a flash games website, not a studio, plus Alinor is a single city in the Summerset Isles (the capital) it would be hard to pull off TES in a single city.120.16.194.159 10:57, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

It's unlikely, i would go with more solid info.Jean-Velejeanne 03:56, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
It's not - I made it up as an April Fool's prank. I didn't expect anyone to fall for it! princess_stomper 22:17, 28 July 2010
Forgive my skepticism but who exactly are you supposed to be?--TheAlbinoOrcany_questions? 21:26, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

A hint?Edit

At the end of Oblivion, the final cutscene (after Martin dies) has Martin telling you "When the next elder scrolls is written, you will be it's scribe. The future is up to you." Or something like that. Would this be a subtle hint on the TES V? I mean, it's too random just to toss in there. But, I have no idea what it could mean. Thoughts?--Arch-Mage MattTalk 00:26, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

I think that he's referring to your PC from TES IV not you in TES V.--TheAlbinoOrc 01:55, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
What? The console? That doesn't make a ton of sense, since you can play on X-Box 360... --Arch-Mage MattTalk 01:57, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
I think he means your player.--Corevette789 02:01, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Ohhhh. Buy why would it say that just the player will have total control and drop it?--Arch-Mage MattTalk 02:05, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I was referring to your player (PC = Player Character, NPC = Non-Player Character, it's a convenient and standard shorthand), but I think what they mean is that your PC will have an impact on history not that (s)he'll have total control over events. Or since he has a different point of view than someone playing the game he could have been saying that the events of the Oblivion Crisis are the contents of the next Elder Scroll, since to him it hasn't been written yet.--TheAlbinoOrc 02:49, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm, just had one of those ideas, linking games has been done quite a bit, perhaps TESV will have the ability to "link" with TESIV. So you can go somewhere else (after finishing the main questline or something) without losing items and experience in the other skills. Than again, this would mean that they arent looking to improve graphics at all (no complaints though, i use the ps3). Theres tons of ways to "link" games and id like to see them try it ;D Mikeyboy52 10:15, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
Very, very unlikely. The way TESIV defines its objects means that the next game would have to include every item from this one. And don't forget mods. No. That's not gonna happen. rpeh •TCE 14:38, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Nothing for a whileEdit

we may see nothing for a while, at least as far as announcing anything is concerned, due maby to bethesda's ongoing legal battle with interplay that doesn't look like it'll be ending any time soon, so they may be waiting to see weather or not the still fully own Fallout before committing any resources to making a game, as well as concentrating on placing all available resources (money), into decant legal counsel into keeping fallout instead of. (New Vegas doesn't count there not making it). because as much as TES is a huge franchise o don't think bethesda want to be known as a one brand company. JamesDC99 19:45, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Armor GamesEdit

(moved from the article)

The Elder Scrolls V: Alinor

On April 1st 2010,Bethesda has confirmed that the new Elder Scrolls will be devolved by Armor Games. It is unknown if this is real or an April Fools joke.

I moved this because there's no source and Bethesda certainly haven't announced this on their blog. If you have a source for this, please add it. rpeh •TCE 01:34, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Armor (i think it was actually armour) games is flashbased gaming website, so unless bathesda is looking at running a flash-based mmo its unlikely. If they released a browser based mmorpg it would probably be java-based as flash is easily hacked. Mikeyboy52 08:07, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
First of all... they said this on April 1st(April Fools day), Armor Games is a flash game company not a 3d game company, we haven't heard any further confirmation from Armor Games on the topic, Alinor is a single city in Valenwood(I think in Valenwood... maybe some other place), Bethesda wouldn't openly tell us what the name of the game is, I don't think Bethesda has confirmed this any more. — Unsigned comment by 98.132.201.238 (talk) on 11 June 2009
Alinor is in Summurset 96.246.229.240 22:15, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Yes. Topic over. The story was a joke. rpeh •TCE 22:44, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Possibilities.Edit

Right so.

A friend came up to me and said something about TES V: Alinor. I thought, "Huh?" He said it was announced in London. Whatever. I thought it was true. But upon reading some talk and websites, it was a joke. However, another friend told me this.

My friend had some crazy program from who knows where that told him things that will be released. If anyone plays Halo 3, he told me about "crazy new forge editor", sure enough 8 months later they released a new Forge Map called Sandbox. Not exactly a perfect description, but he knew about it before everyone else.

Anyways, like 7 months ago (I never told anyone what he told me.), he told me about TES V. His direct quote was, "Possibly online, every region is available. Oh yeah, it's like 200 years into the future."

Now that sounds like a load, but I somewhat believe him. I honestly think that Bethesda could design Skyrim, Hammerfell, Elsywr (Sp?) Blackmarsh, and that other country by Leyawin.

Seriously, if you think about it they already have the biggest region made. They would, of course, have to redo Morrowind, but they have that already. Skyrim wouldn't be too hard, since it's probably mountains of snow. Blackmarsh would be just plain annoying since it's just that kind of place.

In short: I believe my friend on this "all regions thing". Not so much online multiplayer. And I think Bethesda could easily advance the game 200 years and have a perfect storyline to go with it.

And even if that's beyond the truth, we can still dream, right? Who wouldn't want to see Cyrodil in 200 years? Maybe things have been built up or burned down.

He's not exactly a hundred percent true source, but he predicted Nazi Zombies, Sandbox, and some other features before E3 could. — Unsigned comment by 75.34.23.158 (talk) at 16:22 on 21 July 2010

Well I'm pretty skeptical on this one. But all regions would be nice - and quite possible if they use multiple game disks. It would also let them do something like Dragon Age: Origins and have you start off in a different region depending on the race you choose. You'd make your character and then be prompted to insert the disk for that region. So if you chose an Argonian you'd start in Blackmarsh, or if you choose to be a Bosmer (Wood Elf) you start off in Valenwood. Also what does your friend say about the time-line? (I'm skeptical but I'm not against getting more information so that when it does come out I can see if this was accurate or not).--TheAlbinoOrcany_questions? 18:57, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
The "200 years in the future" suggestion has been on the article for some time, after it was accidentally leaked by Waterstones. It's still not clear whether this was real information leaked accidentally or a mistake. rpeh •TCE 08:05, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Looks like he wasn't that far off with the 200 years in the future 112.201.104.218 06:18, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

No MMOEdit

I don't know if this is stated anywhere -- but quoting from here, "To be clear, Todd [Howard] and his team do not make MMOs, for any franchise, at all". Also, "We have another division – ZeniMax Online Studios – which is lead by Matt Firor, and they are working on an MMO." So... no MMO, if the game is going to still be designed by Todd Howard and his "Team". --Arch-Mage Matt Did I Do That? 00:26, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Posted August 17th, 2009... and all that post says is that Todd Howard isn't doing an MMO. Look back through the News posts for more up to date info. rpeh •TCE 00:29, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Ah. I should've checked the date. But I assumed that Todd Howard would still do it, since he did the last couple games. --Arch-Mage Matt Did I Do That? 00:34, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

RumorEdit

(moved from the article)

Also there is a rumour according to N4G that "Elder Scrolls V is definitely in production, Says Sony" The article can be found here: http://n4g.com/news/602202/rumour-elder-scrolls-v-definitely-in-production-says-sony. The article claims that a Sony employee asked Bethesda about whether a new Elder Scrolls would be coming out, after Bethesda contacted him he said "Yeah - Bethesda contacted us a while ago to tell us it was on the way, but we don't know when or what it's about" However this is only a rumour and not 100% confirmation, but the information from the article is said to come from an "incredibly reliable source of ours - cliché, yes, but we can assure you all prior information he's given us has been correct."

(also moved)

According to this article [2]it seems that Zenimax Online Studios is making an MMO. If you go on the Zenimax job listing here link: [3] you can see on the left hand side that its written that "ZeniMax Online Studios, a division of ZeniMax Media, is a premier developer and worldwide publisher of online games currently working on an unannounced Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) title from its headquarters in Hunt Valley, Maryland." The Game Informer article says that Bethesda Game Studios is unlikely to be working with Zenimax Online on the MMO. IF this is true then Bethesda Game Studios led by Todd Howard would be working on their own game which could be The Elder Scrolls V or a new IP.

Moved because something a little more solid than somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody is required for this kind of announcement. rpeh •TCE 17:52, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
I've moved a second one as well. Robin Hoodtalk 12:15, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

More possible evidence of Skyrim locationEdit

In that news article supposedly from a Bethesda insider with official documents (and not denied nor confirmed by Bethesda) the next game would also strongly involve the Blades. I thought since Cloud Ruler temple, their main stronghold, is right on the borer of Cyrodill and Skyrim that it might suggest that it will be set there and have it on the Southern border of the map.

Akaviri in TES V?Edit

Given the dragon presence in the trailer for Skyrim, perhaps we're seeing the start of a new Akaviri invasion? Or perhaps the Ka Po' Tun attempt to become dragons might serve as the catalyst for a reawakening of actual dragons. Either way, I'd like to see some Akaviri influence next November. --coldacid (talk) 06:21, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

It's possible, but can we keep speculation to the forums rather than the wiki please? rpeh •TCE 10:19, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
It really isn't speculation that Akavir will play at least some contribution in this game, since the Akaviri banner is displayed notably in the trailer and on the ES website. Avagoth 15:15, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
I don't care if there's a big banner saying "BTW, Akavir is in this game, LOL!" - the wiki isn't the place to discuss it. rpeh •TCE 15:19, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, just thought that fact might be worth mentioning in the article, but I guess not. Avagoth 15:35, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

SkyrimEdit

Don't you think this page should be changed to, y'know, confirm that the game is set in Skyrim, with dragons and a civil war and whatnot? 71.205.116.179 03:49, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

The page already says "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will take place in Skyrim", and that's all we know. Dragons aren't necessarily in the game, and I don't know where the civil war thing comes from. rpeh •TCE 08:07, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

"When the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood." Sounds like a civil war to me. King of Killing 17:20, 14 December 2010 (UTC)King of Killing

PlatformsEdit

Bethesda Softworks have a press release confirming that TES V will be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and Games for Windows. Here's the address: http://bethsoft.com/eng/news/pressrelease_121310.html Would it be worth mentioning on the page at this time? (I would do it myself, but I wasn't sure and would probably end up messing up the page.) --Kvaener 18:50, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

ElevensEdit

Would the odd number of elevens associated with this announcement be in any way notable? It could be simply a memorable date, but the fact that it also was announced eleven months before hand seems odd to me. I might just be crazy, though. — Unsigned comment by 199.235.123.239 (talk) on 15 december 2010

The consensus is that it is just a memorable date. --Brf 16:25, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Level scalingEdit

http://attackofthefanboy.com/news/elder-scrolls-skyrim-level-scaling-detailed/ Also, it appears that the game is indeed set 200 years after Oblivion. --86.153.178.0 13:35, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

New Section?Edit

Shouldn't this page be renamed and given its own section? I think we have enough information for it to get its own section. I mean, even the Wikipedia article is more extensive and thorough then ours. Ni! 03:25, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

I agree. It's probably the right time to create the Skyrim section and fill it with the details we know so far (which are mostly gameplay related). See this discussion for some more info on the matter.--Tovenam 17:15, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Elder Scrolls VIEdit

I'm interested if there's going to be an Elder Scrolls Six, and if there is, i'd hope it would take place in Elsweyr. I'm interested in a kajiit storyline. 74.138.183.168 01:28, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Skyrim just came out. It took over 4 years to even hear an announcement about TES:V give it some time. Also I wouldnt mind seeing Black Marsh. But Blavk Marsh and Elsweyr are the only Tamrielian regions to not be featured in a game. Elsweyr and Black Marsh have both been visited in the novels but not a game.--Toungennose 07:20, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
Personally, I would be interested in a game set in the Isles with the Thalmor as the primary government and the Empire off to the side. It would be an interesting change of pace. Eric SnowmaneTalkEmailContributions 07:44, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
On the bright side, we've most likely only got 3 years to go before the next great single-player entry in the series is released. Perhaps only a year before that, Bethesda will start showing teaser trailers (& hopefully NOT spoil nearly as much about the game as they have before Skyrim came out).
I'm wondering what Engine (or heavily customized/modified Engine variant) they'll be using for TES VI. There are quite a few features I'd like to see the team add in the game (assuming Bethesda is indeed devoting one of their teams to working on TES VI right now, as we speak). WintersetAltmer (talk) 13:28, 6 October 2013 (GMT)
While this is surely an important topic, we just can't discuss it right now as it would consist solely of speculation at the moment. This conversation shouldn't of been allowed in the first place. If you still want to discuss this, I would recommend you use our forums and the topic set for this. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 14:19, 6 October 2013 (GMT)

Some ImprovementEdit

We should model this section a little better, as it is practically a bad-looking stub.

A good reference would be Bulbagarden's page (see: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Future_generation) on future generations of the Pokemon franchise, whose patterns of release work similarly to TES'.

Of course, this comes with the challenges of both keeping this section neutral to certain to potential butthurt in the Talk page and making it non-speculatory in nature. 76.19.187.6 18:28, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

I'm not a fan of speculation, but I can see your point. If we really wanted to add anymore content to this page, it would be simple enough to identify common trends throughout the series. As an example, you'll most likely be a prisoner, the game will likely primarily be set in one province (the province also likely serving as the games sub-title), you'll get an option to customize your character, there will be a starter dungeon that you must escape, etc. etc.. It's not hard to identify common trends in the games (though, it's much harder to do so then it is for the Pokemon franchise, which hasn't changed its basic style since it started). However, besides these common trends, there really wouldn't be much else to say (if I had to stretch this out, I'd mention the Daedra most likely returning, some book series reappearing, that kind of thing).
However, before we could add any of that, we'd have to entirely change how we've handled this page so far. While I'm not opposed to doing this, it will likely result in this page being a constant target once more for pure speculation. Before this goes any further, I'd need to hear what anyone else thinks. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:00, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
