Thieves Guild Passive Skill LineEdit
The Thieves Guild skill line is exclusive to members of the Thieves Guild, and is comprised of six passive abilities that expand your thievery toolbox beyond your trusty lockpicks. You'll want these skills to aid in your pursuit of becoming an expert thief.
You first unlock the Thieves Guild skill line after completing the first part of the Thieves Guild quest, "Partners in Crime" and arriving in Abah's Landing. Alternately, if you attempt to open a Thieves Trove and have the Thieves Guild DLC game pack, you will also automatically unlock the passive skill line. While access to Thieves Guild is required to obtain and level the Thieves Guild skill line, you will still retain the skill line if you no longer have access to the DLC game pack. You simply won't be able to level the skill line until you regain access to the Thieves Guild DLC game pack.
Here is a brief summary of the Thieves Guild skill line passive abilities:
- Finders Keepers: Thieves Troves are special caches that are located all around Tamriel. They have a distinct blue glow around them. If you happen to spot a Thieves Trove, it's yours to keep if you can open it. You'll need this Thieves Guild passive to secure your prize!
- Swiftly Forgotten: Experienced thieves know the value of being inconspicuous. Swiftly Forgotten decreases your accrued bounty and heat after three seconds, making you a distant memory with those who would have you arrested.
- Haggling: The art of haggling is admired among members of the Thieves Guild. With this passive, your haggling skills grant you the ability to get up to 10% more for stolen items you sell to any fence. Haggling won't give you benefits for Laundering—fences have to make a living too, after all.
- Clemency: Every thief has at least one tale of giving town guards the slip. With Clemency, you can do just that. When used, a guard that was going to arrest you will have a turn of heart and won't take your money and stolen goods. Also, guards will not attempt to accost you for one minute after you use Clemency unless you commit other crimes. Clemency is usable once a day, so use it wisely!
- Timely Escape: "Thick as thieves" is more than just a saying, especially among members of the Thieves Guild. If you find yourself in a sticky situation, a fellow thief may come to your aid. With Timely Escape, there is a chance a "Footpad" may appear in any town with an Outlaws Refuge when you have heat and are in combat. Interacting with the Footpad will whisk you away to the safety of the nearest Outlaws Refuge.
- Veil of Shadows: Long shadows and dark alleys are a boon to any thief. With Veil of Shadows, witnesses and guards have their detection range decreased by 10%. With decreased detection range, witnesses are less likely to notice crimes and guards won't challenge you until they get closer. They can't catch what they don't see!
Larceny SystemEdit
Crime pays, especially for the Thieves Guild. As a member, you'll have access to plenty of lucrative opportunities. In Abah's Landing, there are three new repeatable activity types you can participate in—exclusive to Thieves Guild members, of course. You'll also encounter new ways to break the law as you do Thieves Guild quests, including vandalism, arson, and trespassing.
TIP BOARD
After you complete the "Partners in Crime" Thieves Guild quest, you'll have access to the Tip Board in the Abah's Landing Thieves Den. These larceny quests take you all around Tamriel and involve pickpocketing, unlocking safeboxes, gathering specific types of items for consignment requests, and more. While doing these quests, you'll have the option to steal additional items for better rewards.
You can take on only one larceny quest from the Tip Board at time, but there is no limit to how many times you can complete them in a day. You're only limited by your time and ambition! Kari, a Nord woman in the center of the Thieves Den, offers payouts for all jobs completed from the Tip Board. Rewards for completing larceny quests include gold, experience, Thieves Guild reputation, Bounty Edicts, and containers of valuable goods. Items from the latter can be sold or kept for the "Covetous Countess" quests.
HEIST BOARD
The Heist Board opens up after you've completed "The Long Game" Thieves Guild quest. Heists are a new type of repeatable quest that will push your thievery skills to the limit, testing your ability to sneak, avoid traps, lockpick, and snatch your prize right from under the enemy's nose.
Heists Board missions bring you to an instanced location where the heist takes place. You can go them alone, or bring friends and orchestrate a coordinated heist for the ultimate reward. You can acquire one heist quest per day, but you can share heist quests with friends. If you and a friend get different heist quests, you can share and go on additional heists!
All heist quests have a bonus objective—accomplish your goal within a given timeframe in order to receive a bonus reward. Being spotted will reduce the amount of time you have to accomplish your goal. If you do fail to return in time, you can still complete your quest but you lose the reward bonus. Heists are randomized, so treasure location and enemy type won't always be the same. We like to keep you on your toes.
After completing a heist, speak to Fa'ren-dar for your payout. The male Khajiit can be found in the Abah's Landing Thieves Den, by the secret exit. For successfully completing a heist, you can earn gold, experience, Thieves Guild reputation, and containers of valuable goods that can be sold or kept for the "Covetous Countess" quests. If you complete the heist quest bonus, you'll receive a random item from one of the new Thieves Guild item sets, and a large amount of Thieves Guild reputation
REACQUISITION BOARD
Completing the "Partners in Crime" Thieves Guild quest also grants you access to the Reacquisition Board, just outside the Abah's Landing Thieves Den. Reacquisition quests task you with recovering valuable items from specific targets around Hew's Bane. Some are in the overworld, while others will send you into the depths of Bahraha's Gloom or Shark's Teeth Grotto—the two new Thieves Guild delves.
You can accept and complete one reacquisition quest per day. Which quest is available to you is random. Spencer Rye, a Breton man, manages payouts for all completed Reacquisition jobs. He starts out in Thieves Den, then relocates to just outside the den by the Reacquisition Board. Rewards for completing Reacquisition Board jobs include gold, experience, and Thieves Guild reputation.
TRESPASSING
Some Abah's Landing citizens don't mind the occasional home invasion, but those who do and spot you will report you for trespassing the moment you step foot over the threshold. With Thieves Guild, certain locations are off-limits to adventurers. Being seen loitering in these locations is grounds for trespassing, a criminal act. If caught trespassing, your heat and bounty will increase. Practice discretion when breaking and entering!
HIDDEN TREASURE & RARE STEALABLE ITEMS
Those with a keen eye may find hidden treasures secreted away in Abah's Landing. No one is really sure who put them there, but seeking them out can be a profitable pastime. You may also occasionally come across highly valuable stealable items, indicated by their gold item status. These may be of interest to members of the Thieves Guild.
BOUNTY EDICTS
Being a member of the Thieves Guild has a great many benefits—Bounty Edicts are one of them. Is your bounty getting a little too high for comfort? No problem. Simply use a Bounty Edict, and wave goodbye to a portion of your accrued bounty (or all of it, if you're lucky.)
You can obtain Bounty Edicts as rewards for successfully completing heists, larceny quests, and Thieves Guild quests. Sometimes they even appear in Thieves Troves—now that's paying it forward.
MementosEdit
Mementos are special trinkets with a unique clickable effect which you can obtain in a variety of ways while playing the game. Gone are the days of these items taking up room in your inventory and bank. Now Mementos have their own dedicated category in the Collections menu.
Mementos are easy to use. Simply navigate to the Mementos category in the Collections menu, find the Memento you wish to use, and press your interaction key or button. You can also add Mementos to your quickslot menu. Open your inventory and navigate to your Collectibles tab in your inventory. Next, open your quickslot menu and add the Memento you want. Now you can conveniently activate your favorite Mementos any time you please.
If you destroyed any Mementos you previously acquired, they will retroactively appear back in your Mementos menu—you don't have to obtain them again. If you're looking to complete your Mementos collection, check the tip on each item within the Mementos menu for a helpful hint about how and where to obtain them.
AssistantsEdit
The Thieves Guild DLC game pack introduces Assistants, special characters that provide a specific service when summoned. Some Assistants are usable only by the person that summoned them, while others are usable by anyone in the area. Some of the Assistant types you'll find in ESO are bankers, merchants, and fences.
Some Assistants are obtained by completing in-game objectives, and others are available for purchase in the Crown Store under the Upgrades category.
Assistants are conveniently usable just about anywhere, with one exception—you cannot summon Assistants while in Cyrodiil. Once summoned, they will remain by your side even when you're engaged in battle. Just don't ask them to engage in combat. They're assistants, after all, not personal bodyguards.
