Emil Pagliarulo is the Studio Design Director at Bethesda Game Studios, with credits on The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Starfield.
Pagliarulo was a fan of The Elder Scrolls from the start, having played Arena, Daggerfall, and Redguard in the 1990s when they came out. He used to write articles and conduct interviews for Avault, one of which was for Redguard, before he then moved on to work at Eidos Interactive on the Thief series. After being seduced by seductive emails from Todd Howard about vibrant forests, Pagliarulo chose to join Bethesda Game Studios.

- Bloodmoon — Pagliarulo helped develop many of the side quests, including the encounter with Uncle Sweetshare.[2][3]
- Oblivion — Pagliarulo authored the game's sneaking mechanics, the Dark Brotherhood questline and lore, as well as the Arena questline.[4][2][5]
- Knights of the Nine — Pagliarulo wrote additional conversations.[6]
- Shivering Isles — Pagliarulo provided voice acting for the male Dark Seducers.
- Skyrim — Pagliarulo was a senior designer and writer for Skyrim, providing additional design support for the high level setting, factions, and cities featured in the game.[7] He authored the lyrics used in the game's main theme music, and a great deal of the Dragon Language and shout mechanics.[8][9][10] Additionally, the Dovahkiin's shout in the game's trailer was voice acted by Pagliarulo.[10] He designed the Dark Brotherhood questline, made design contributions to the Main Quest, and designed the Blood on the Ice side quest.[7][8][9] The lockpicking minigame was also his design, a holdover from Fallout 3.[9] Pagliarulo also wrote the guard dialogue for the game, including the: "I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee..." line.[9]
- Dawnguard — While Pagliarulo did not contribute to the add-on, he suggested the idea of the Prophecy of the Sun, with the earth forever becoming entombed in darkness.[11]
- Dark Brotherhood — Pagliarulo provided feedback to the creators of the Dark Brotherhood DLC, informing them where they got certain things wrong and how the fiction the Dark Brotherhood should be designed.[2]
- Skyrim Very Special Edition — Pagliarulo wrote the dialogue for the game.[2]
