Lakeside Retreat is a lakeside cottage overrun by bandits, located northeast of The Beast's Maw and southwest of Rock Creek Camp.
The cottage was once the home of an Imperial and Khajiit couple, but has since been taken over by a group of bandits. As explained in a note on one of the shelves, the local bandits believed the cat to be a moon sugar addict, and have assaulted and ransacked the place looking for a stash of the precious substance.
Behind the main building is a vegetable garden, with potato, cabbage, carro and radish plants. In front is a long pier jutting out into the lake, guarded by a bandit, and hosting four fish barrels. One of them contains three bowls of moon sugar, proving the bandits' assumptions to be correct. In the nearby waters you will find clams and slaughterfish egg nests, while to the side of the cottage is a tanning rack and a wood chopping block.
Inside you will find two more bandits, as well as the remains of the unfortunate previous owners. The one-room cottage is mostly trashed, but there is still a serviceable bed, a shrine to Kynareth, two silver goblets, some food, a bottle of brandy and a number of books, including a copy each of Cheeses of Tamriel, Dwemer History and Culture, The Lusty Argonian Maid, v1 and The Lusty Argonian Maid, v3.
